1. Action needed, no more words
Rachel BenDavid ,   Peduel   (07.24.05)
OK, Arik, how about actually doing something to the terrorists now - we've had enough empty words.
2. pullout uber alles
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (07.24.05)
This time I believe Sharon. If he really thinks terrorism is hindering the evac, he'll fight it. It's already proven a thousand times over that the mere murder and maiming of Israeli citizens is not considered, by him or the rest of our govt., as something particularly requiring a reaction. But if he starts to see that his evac is endangered, he'll hit back hard. Other than, we're on our own. Keep your eyes peeled, get a good life insurance policy. Normally, the minute Israeli leaders start threatening reactions to terror, you know you're really in trouble because the talk is generally a substitute for action. This time, though, Sharon means it. After all, it was the pullout that saved him from Edna Arbel, and since then it's been his uber alles.
3. Silly Sharon!
Issac Mateh ,   Gaza   (07.24.05)
Once more Israel never takes lesson, what else can Sharon do? Obviously nothing...closure, bombing and checkpoints...is there more? I don't think so...unless Israel uses nuclear warheads.
4. whats important
shelly ,   Israel   (07.24.05)
Whats imortant to Sharon is keeping Omri out of jail and removing people from thier homes. Everything else just doesn't rate.
5. Why should we believe him now?
Oreet ,   Israel   (07.24.05)
For months we have heard all the empty promises -- Sharon told the army to do whatever is necessary to get rid of terrorists, Sharon told the army that they can act freely against those firing mortars and missiles at Gush Katif, Sharon promises that he will do everything necessary to protect Israeli citizens. Get real -- Sharon cares only about himself and his sons -- he is full of hot air and says whatever pops into his head and whatever he thinks will serve HIS interests today -- tomorrow he will be singing a different song. So he will do anything and everything to continue the banishment of Jews from their homes - and the Arabs will keep bombing and shooting and Sharon will make empty promises - and nothing changes.
6. # 3
Uzziel   (07.24.05)
Come on, don t be so curious. As one thing is for granted: the arabs will continue with the terrorism... Just wait and see. It is always the arab side who lacks of imagination, originality and sense of innovation. Always the same scheme: suicide (child and women) terrorists, rockets, gunshots, and keeping always "Israil" guilty of "okupeishon".
7. Sharon has become a Beilin clone
Dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (07.24.05)
Sharon will stop the terrorists by........ Expelling the Jews.
8. Sharon's"action"
Allan Leibler ,   Jerusalem   (07.24.05)
Sharon is fast losing all credibility. It seems to be okay to kill Israeli's before the evacuation, but not during. Sharon says "no nore pullouts planned". Deputy PM Peres calls for division of Jerusalem and evacuation of Hebron. Rice demands that we rearm the PA. Mofaz initiates the handover of ammunition. Deputy PM Olmert also calls for dismemberment of Jerusalem. Sharon says that no govt minister has done so.. The circus has now begun, but the tragedy of it all will become apparent in about 6 months when the new wave of terror sponsored by the PA ( but it will deny any involvement, just like Arafat) begins. Sharon's 15.000 troops were victorious in the furious battle against 20.000 men women and children. Gideon Levy will write a memorial poem about this massive military victory. God save us from retired generals who want to go down in history as peacermakers. As General Macarthur put it, they should just lie down and fade aweay.
9. We are not scared- Until you leave our land and towns
Kamal ,   Haifa   (07.24.05)
However terror is wrong.....and we need to fight the army not the civilians and children.
10. Sharon needs permission
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.25.05)
We've heard the empty word too many times . Sharon dosn't even know what the word harsh means. He is only a wet noodle and can do nothing without permission from his master George, in Washington.
11. To #9 Kamal-Thank you...but
Andy ,   Israel   (07.25.05)
Thank you for recognising the difference between legitimate freedom fighting and terror. How about telling Ken Livingstone, the mayor of London? I agree, "with friends like him, who needs enemies?" you must be saying. By the way, as a member of the only Arab community in the whole of the Middle East to enjoy democratic freedom, the right to demonstrate against the government, with the highest literacy rates apart from Lebanon, with the best free healthcare system probably in the world, with women's rights more developed than anywhere else in the region, religious pluralism, and with the highest GDP/capita in the Middle East, do you really want to give all that up to go and live under Hamas. Good luck, mate. Rather you than me.
12. a matter
child ,   gaza   (07.25.05)
oh terrorests you are telling us do not eat the piece nor cutting the laofe and eat to be full . oh sharon you want to fight terror by more terror . all will be rounding in an empty circle .this is the matter
13. Talk vs. Action
Matthias ,   Switzerland   (07.25.05)
Well, Sharon is just talking tough but not acting according to it. Who wonders that noone is taking his words seriously??
14. BEFORE 1948, JEWS WERE THE ONES WHO WERE THE PALESTINIANS!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.25.05)
There NEVER was an Arab country of Palestine. Jerusalem was NEVER the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. JERUSALEM IS MENTIONED OVER 800 TIMES IN THE BIBLE, not once in the Koran. Arabs FIRST took the name “Palestinians” in 1967. Arafat was the FIRST leader of this NEW PEOPLE. Before 1948, Jews were known as the Palestinians! The Jewish newspaper, the Jerusalem Post was called the Palestinian Post. After the Jews miraculously transformed desert and swamps into rich, agricultural land (for which Jews are world famous!) Arabs came in large numbers from Arab countries for jobs from the Jews. The fact that the overwhelming majority of Arabs resided only briefly in Palestine is attested to by the special UN decree: that any Arab who had resided in Palestine FOR ONLY TWO YEARS BEFORE 1948, and then left, would be considered a refugee and so would his descendants!!! On March 31, 1977, Dutch newspaper Trouw published an interview with PLO executive committee member Zahir Muhsein: “The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism. For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.” MAJOR GOAL OF GLOBAL JIHAD: THE DESTRUCTION OF THE WORLD'S ONLY JEWISH STATE AND ITS REPLACEMENT WITH AN ISLAMIC ONE.
