1. Good idea
Stuart ,   NYC   (08.09.05)
Why not have NASA send a Palestinian and an Israeli into space? That would be a great gesture for peace.
2. McAullife is lebanese??
(08.10.05)
I'm a MacAtini! What kind of a Mac are you laddie? I'm a MacHabibi (we play our bagpipes upside down, but we do it better than the Irish - and we dont drink wiskey, thats not kosher)
3. Space and the Middle East
Farouk ,   Jerusalem   (08.10.05)
In our conflict it is an argument about; whose space is it? One party says we were the first in space the other says but we landed on the moon first. There are those on both sides who are fighting and are radicalizing their societies with blind hate who are considered for the time being the true astronauts. And there are us; you me and all other people who believe that the space is big enough and it has to do with how we can build our future in partnership. We are for the time being considered space cadets. What needs to be done Ray is put the true astronauts is a spaceship and bring them back to earth where reality is.

5. Why not?
Iskandar ,   Jerusalem   (08.11.05)
Why not Palestinian and Israeli astronauts into space for hope for peace? It is a very good idea. Why can't Palestinians and Israelis do something together? We talk peace but, are we doing enough for peace?
6. McAullife
Dov ,   Montreal, Canada   (08.12.05)
I was curious, so I did a Google search. Christa McAuliffe's mother was of Maronite origin. (Many Maronites do not classify themselves as "Arabs"; I do not know if Christa McAuliffe's mother would have, but that is another issue.) Ilan Ramon is not a very good parallel, since he was a Jewish-Israeli astronaut and not a Jewish-American one. A better parallel is Judith Resnick. I believe she was the second Jewish astronaut to go into space (after Boris Volynov, the Soviet cosmonaut). She perished with Christa McAuliffe aboard the Challenger.

What is your point? A space race?
8. HANANIA AND PERES IN SPACE? GREAT IDEA!

9. to #8: At least you can spell this time
(08.13.05)
Hard to spell with all that hatred pent up inside you?
10. Farouk - my point
Dov ,   Montreal, Canada   (08.13.05)
No Farouk not some kind of "space race", whatever that means! Merely curiosity as to astronauts. I am sorry not to offer the political points you seem to be seeking. But I have always found space exploration exciting, simply.

I am seeking nothing, thanks for the info.
12. Ilan Ramon, Resnick and McAullifiyya????
(08.14.05)
A few things Hananaia missed: Wasn't Ramon one of the Israeli terrorists who used his fighter jets to attack another nations unprovoked? Resnick was an American Jew and not an Israeli? McAullife may be hailed as an Arab but she never acknowledged it publicly.
