1. if those zionists are victims like they claim ,then why are
aa ,   aa   (08.17.05)
they being kicked out by there own IDF. you cannot have it both ways , or this is your land and no one whatsoever should kick you out , or its a stolen land that should be givin back to it original owners , in a way i do not blame those extream zionists , because they where deceived by there own government in the first place , just like they are now being decieved in the west bank and east jerusalem and the golan hights and more and more , if someone would offer me a peice of land and a home practicly free , i wouldnt turn the offer down . A FREE ADVICE TO ALL OF YOU SETLERS . turn down any offers in a land that does not belong to you or face a terrible end like the end of the gaza settlers .
2. To 1
The land is disputed THE PALESTINIAN NATIONAL CHARTER (1964) Article 24: This Organization does not exercise any territorial sovereignty over the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the Gaza Strip or in the Himmah Area. Its activities will be on the national popular level in the liberational, organizational, political and financial fields. The entire reason they are getting kicked out is years of propaganda and appeasement.
3. evacuation
Patti ,   Meitar, Israel   (08.17.05)
I am unmoved by tears of the Gaza residents. By their very presence all these years they have caused a great deal of suffering to the Palestinians, and have taken a grossly unfair slice of the national economic pie. It's true that they were encouraged by successive governments to live there, but in my eyes, this does not relieve them of responsibility for the evils they have caused.
4. The land WAS disputed
Jens Lyn ,   Copenhagen   (08.17.05)
#2, this not 1964 anymore. More breaking news soon !
5. The worst day of the State of Israel!!!!!
Daniel ,   Jerusalem   (08.17.05)
I am ashamed to be an Israeli. I am fed up with our culture of corruption and "looking the other way." Hundreds of families are being uprooted from there homes and 26 bet knesets are to be destroyed, visions we have not seen since the holocaust. Most of the country is asleep, either blinded by the hatred of the religious or more interested in the next soccer match. This Sunday we remembered our holy temple that was destroyed because of baseless hatred. Have we learnt anything in two thousand years!!!! I don't blame you innocent reader. This state has been feeding you lies and robbing you of your heritage from Hertzl to Sharon. Our history started with Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov. It is no wonder that we are so lost and everyone is so fed up. I beg you, Wake up and let us remember where we came from so we can know where me should be going!!!
6. Tragic happenings
GABOR ,   Budapest, Hungary   (08.17.05)
I hope after all these horrible scenes and private tragedies Israel is going to freeze further withrawels. Palestinian leaders already announced fightings in order to "get back" al the territories which they think "belonged to them": from the sea to the river. After Gaza there won't be PEACE in the region, I'm sure. Unfortunately, all the sucrefices made by Israeli society are vain. Giving up anything is NOT THE RIGHT SOLUTION at least not under well-known circumstances. Palestinians must show they are able to govern Gaza in peace without terrorists. Israel gave a positive sign for the world, and now we are curious to see what Palestinians can offer for peace. If nothing than world comunity should NOT GRANT STATEHOOD for them and EU must freeze financial supports!
7. Now Gaza, tomorrow Jerusalem?
GABOR ,   Budapest, Hungary   (08.17.05)
To all the Palestinians reading this: STOP ASKING TOO MUCH! The World won't support exagerated demands! Jerusalem is the FIRST holy place of Judaism, the second one of Christianism, and only the THIRD holy place of Islam!. You are in minority there but you are numerous in the East, in your real country called JORDAN! Trans-Jordan has been given to you, so your goals are already completed! LONG LIVE THE PALESTINIAN STATE FROM the JORDAN river to the IRAQI BORDER! We are on your side:-)
8. Gaza is not disputed land
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.17.05)
Gaza is not disputed land. It is part of Biblical Israel which G-d gave to the Jews. The expulsion of Jews from any part of the Land of Israel is truely evil. It is a breach of basic human rights and is against international law. The suffering of Palestinians was not due to the settlers. The settlers settled on undeveloped and uninhabited sand dunes. The Palestinians brought about their own suffering by refusing to live peacefully with the Jews.
9. #5 . We came from Israel.
Eli Vardi ,   Israel   (08.17.05)
You asked where we came from. We have to concentrate our efforts on developing Israel and that includes the Negev. If we had invested all the money spent on Gaza setlements in developing the Negev, which is empty, we would have a flourishing area from Beer Sheva until Tel Aviv. It's an amazing beautiful part of the country. Incidentally, any reference, or comparison to the Holocaust is in bad taste and slanders the memory of the 6 million lost.
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (08.17.05)
Kfar Darom was PURCHASED- DECADES BEFORE Israel was esablished. NONE of the communities are built on Arab-owned land. And of course, the Arabs gave up all sovereign claims 41 years ago- as you can see from the PLO's own Charter on their own web site: "THE PALESTINIAN NATIONAL CHARTER" (Al-Mithaq Al-Kawmee Al-Philisteeni), Adopted in 1964 by the 1st Palestinian Conference Article 24: This Organization does not exercise any territorial sovereignty over the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the Gaza Strip or in the Himmah Area. In short, Arabs want to steal what isn't theirs.
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.17.05)
THIS IS HOW THE WORLD SUPER POWERS and Israeli leaders reward over 27,000 terror attacks against Israel's Jews in the last five years, and thousands of Jews maimed and murdered. The rewards for attacking and murdering Jews are very great - Jewish land and assets that NEVER belonged to Arabs. Stop the evil Jew hate.
12. Eli Vardi
Daniel   (08.17.05)
Thank you, you are a fine example of the new Israeli, void of Jewdiasm, lost in a dream of secular zionism, and blinded by the media. A few more like you and all is lost. Wake up! Youve been asleap your whole life!!!
13. No Empathy
Sara ,   Israel   (08.17.05)
the law is the law and can be disputed in courts or on governement levels; the settlers were given time to make arrangements, there is absolutely no one but themselves to blame for the situation to are now in; they choose to act the way they do and they should also take responsability for it, to blame anybody else for their predicament now is cowardness and hypocritical (was to be expected anyway). Are we also feeling sorry for other lawbreakers? Or are certain laws only for certain people and is punishment depending on who your are (or who you claim to be?)
14. And how will this be commemorated?
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (08.17.05)
I'm sure the Romans showed greater compassion as they set about destroying Masada. The shame of this scene is unbearable. Siccing young Israelis onto young Israelis.
15. #12 Wrong ! Actually I'm religious Zionist
Eli Vardi ,   Israel   (08.17.05)
But in the old way. In the way that the Mafdal used to be before the radicals took control and gave control to the Rabbis. I respect Rabbi's as the authority in my religiuous life but not the political life. Politics corrupt even the Rabbi's. I believe in bringing new immigrants to Israel, to build the country. I'm not as racist as you, because I know that even if we have secular Jews here, they are still Jews. I have enough confidence in my people and family to feel comfortable amongst non-Jews, be they Christian, Muslims or Bahaa. I do not believe that Israel has to turn itself into a 19th century religious ghetto to protect its' identity. We know who we are. I believe in a pluralistic Jewish state where all our citizens have equal rights and can live together with mutual respect. You can call me a dreamer, and I don't think that primitives like your radical mobsters can understand it, but it can happen, and I hope and pray that my kids will live to see it. Maybe then Israel can truly be a light among the Nations again.
16. To respondent 2
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (08.17.05)
They're not impressed by laws. Or haven't you noticed?
17. Don't Forget
Jacqueline ,   Dallas, TX, USA   (08.17.05)
I keep an article in my office about the homicide bombing in Beer-Sheba last year right before school started. The article was about those who died in the attack. The one that stood out to me was a three year old little boy named Aviel Atash who was killed and on the day he was supposed to start kindergarten he had a funeral instead. His mother couldn't even attend the funeral because of her injuries. How terrible that was. Why do so many Israeli's take it so lightly that the terrorists have won? The people of Beer-Sheba felt that they would be spared from the attacks. Why would they? The terrorists want the entire region. The attacks will get worse not better. Today the people in the settlements are being evicted...Tomorrow Beer-Sheba? It's possible. Stand your ground Israel, don't back down.
18. Yishai; the land has always belonged to the Jews!
Daisy ,   USA   (08.17.05)
The Arabs are land thieves who have, through murder and colonization in the Middle East, taking what isn't theirs.
19. clashes ,tears #15
Fors clavigera ,   centre,Israel   (08.17.05)
You can not be a secular Christian, you can not be a secular Moslem, you can not be a secular Jew, a secular Israeli but NOT a secular Jew. How do you separate your Judaism from every day life.? For instance the Parasha this last Shabbat gave the G-D given borders of Israel (including Gaza) ,but for you on weekdays it no longer applies. These are the borders the secular Ben-Gurion gave as the borders of a future Jewish state. They put the Land of Israel movement to shame. ""From the beginning, Zionists advocated a "Jewish State" not just in Palestine, but also in Jordan, southern Lebanon, and the Golan Heights as well. In 1918 Ben-Gurion described the future "Jewish state's" frontiers in details as follows: "to the north, the Litani river [in southern Lebanon], to the northeast, the Wadi 'Owja, twenty miles south of Damascus; the southern border will be mobile and pushed into Sinai at least up to Wadi al-'Arish; and to the east, the Syrian Desert, including the furthest edge of Transjordan" .. He seems to have to believed in G-D's promises more than the religious zionist you claim to be.
20. Devoping the negev # 9
Fors clavigera ,   centre.Israel   (08.17.05)
For your information the Negev once was assumed to start at Beer-Tuvia, now assumed to start at Kiryat Gat, southwards NOT northwards to Tel-Aviv. For your information ,the coastal strip from Beer-Tuvia ,going north is already over developed..And the Negev extends far south of Beer Sheva, or do you think that the Negev south of Beer Sheva should be given to an Arab state for the sake of continuity? And what has Tel Aviv got to do with developing the Negev?
21. Unto your own people
melinda lehan ,   enid,ok ,america   (08.18.05)
Remember when Ahab listened to that evil harlot Jezebel and took Na'both's land from him after taking his life by lies and deceit he also took. his inheritance from G-d Naboth would not SELL his inheritance from G-d .Remember G-d sent Elisha to speak to him of what he'd done and the punishment for it. Remember the dogs would lick his blood and the dogs would eat Jezebel, The Lord Almighty knows and sees what is done these past few days. Woh be it unto thee to steal a mans inheritance to please men. and woh be it unto those who would sell their inheritance for a bowl of lentils like it is nothing as did Esau.
22. Dear Daniel don't be ashamed !!!
JOYCE MSOKERI ,   BRITAIN   (08.18.05)
Don't be ashamed to be an Israeli because El-Shaddai loves Israel. Put together almighty and His agape love. Surely He (El-Shaddai) is on the case. Not everyone is fed up. Trust me!!! the world's eye is not blind to all these happenings. People are supporting Israel with earnest prayers. Just let go and let God almighty deal with the situation.I love you Daniel don't loose hope. There is God in heaven. I am not a Jew but daily I am in deep tears to Adonai for him to be on the case.
23. #15 Can't we just all get along ha ha
Carol ,   USA   (08.23.05)
What kind of fairy tale do you live in? Islam followers want Jew and Christian dead - period! They want Israel gone and world domination. Arabs don't want peace, they want Israel gone. Now they will have Gaza for a new terror camp, and there will be more terror than ever. I pray for Israel.
