1. Nobel Prize for ethnically cleansing Jews? NEVER!
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (08.22.05)
This just shows that Eisav soneh et Yaakov.
2. WHAT?!!
Talya ,   California, USA   (08.22.05)
I cannot understand how anyone could possibly suggest a Nobel prize for Sharon. Its just unthinkable!!! How could you give a peace prize to someone who took out Jews from their homeland? To cover up political scandal? Italy, wake up!
3. they gave arafat nobel prize for killin jews
nadav ,   israel   (08.22.05)
so why not giver one for sharon? That is the their argument
4. whatever
Howard ,   Pacific Coast, USA   (08.22.05)
Sharon wasn't, and isn't, thinking about Nobel Prizes. He is thinking about what is necessary for Israel to survive as a Jewish, democratic state for the next 10 generations and more. But in any case, Sharon will be the "bad cop" over the coming months. The people wanting to give him a medal now will be cursing his name by the end of the year. The whole ethnic cleansing claim is silly and a waste of good page on the page. The whole celebrate-Sharon thing is a waste of time unless it can be used to change the battlefield and cut off Hamas and Islamic Jihad from their paymasters.
5. noble prize
rami ,   ramalla   (08.22.05)
now i know why it is unilateral ,,,,,yes to have the prize alone ...not shring abass . it is a point or a look to the results of the disengagment
6. Sharon Nobel Prize
solly Kopman ,   Petach ikva Israel   (08.22.05)
You have to be kidding.
7. lol, war criminals for the nobel peace prize?
edward ,   las vegas   (08.22.05)
whos next, the bigger murderers like bush and bin laden? this is hilarious, maybe we should nominate the sudanese government. how on earth could someone even think that a war criminal from the 80s and a mass murderer as a prime minister could be nominated for peace? hes one of the worlds most notorious violent breeders. hilarious.
8. Best thing Sharon has done.
USA   (08.22.05)
Personally, i think his decision to pull out of Gaza was the best thing his has done in his life. That I know about. I know he has a bad reputation for the Lebanon massacre in 1982 and many other things he allowed the IDF to do in Palestine over the years. So yes, if this would encourage more even handed actions , and self instropection, that benefits ALL people, not just jews, and he is learning from his past mistakes and brutal actions, I say he should be nominated.
9. Awards
Allan Leibler ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.22.05)
All these letters of endorsement from various national leaders show that the Israeli Foreign Ministry has been very busy begging for letters of support for Sharon in order to shore up his sagging domestic situation.
10. Very appropriate
Ariel ,   Jerusalem   (08.22.05)
It is appropriate indeed to grant NP to Sharon, joining thus far the gallery of "heroes" like Arafat, Rabin and Peres. Too bad Emperor Titus is long dead to have it too.
11. Will he receive this at the Casino?
(08.22.05)
12. If a nobody like Vanunu is candidate, why not Sharon?
Tahl ,   Israel   (08.22.05)
He certainly has done a lot to promote peace in the middle east, at a huge expense for him politically and to the state of Israel morally. Compare this to the maggot Vanunu whose only contribution was to smear Israel's name at every opportunity (with the good help of his antisemetic friends in the Sunday Times), and undermine her military strength. And this maggot was nominated too for a Nobel peace prize! Of course, now all the Arab and other leftist fruitcakes would protest that Sharon is a "murderer", and all the rightists would protest that he transferred Jews from their homes... I hope that despite all of these people, this initiative would gain momentum. Sharon definitely deserves it. This would be very beneficial for Israel on the diplomatic level. After Sharon's name was unjustly tarnished because of the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps, a Nobel peace prize would help offset the bad rep, and finally all his accusers' mouths will be shut.
13. To #7, we were talking about Sharon, not about Araffat
(08.22.05)
we know the life record of Araffat (good riddance), we have no need in you to remind us. I agree that the funny thing is that he received a peace prize.
14. JEW-HATING EUROPEANS DELIGHTED JEWS CLEANSED FROM JEWISH LAN
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.22.05)
Ever Jew-hater on earth is ecstatic the jihad against Israel's Jews is about to be greatly empowered with an Islamist terror state. In their rabid Jew-hate they ignore that the Hamas - Hezbollah - Al-Qaida global terror state will be a threat to the entire world.
15. Sharon -doesnt deserve Noble
(08.23.05)
Even though the GAZA RETREAT is AWESOME- He has committed too many war crimes to deserve the Peace prize.
16. I admire Sharon!
Oleg ,   Paris, France   (08.23.05)
I have always admired Ariel Sharon and the Gaza wihdrawal is just another thing you can admire him for.
17. Noble Prize for Sharon
Augustine   (08.24.05)
The dignity of the Nobel prize should not be reduced by giving Sharon the Nobel Prize. At this rate somebody will suggest nobel prize for Osama Bin Laden. In the first place Isrel should not have settled Jews in Occupied territory and giving back occupied land is the legal and moral thing to do. The catch here is that Gazans are not allowed any movement outside Gaza by air, land or sea, which cripple any economic activity they can do. Jobless and Hopless people will be easy target for terrorists
18. #17
Jane ,   New York, New York   (08.26.05)
It's meant nothing since Arafat got it.
