1. Add some moderation to your moderateness
Raykie ,   Israel   (09.03.05)
Even a moderate has to realise that some things are undoable. Hanania doesn't apparently identify with either camp. If he has driven through the streets of present day Jerusalem can he tell me how people will do their shopping, get home from work or go to the hospital without crossing borders? All this apart from the headaches of the PA establishing a separate power, telephone, water grid etc. The city is inextricably a single unit from what I can see.
2. RAY HANANIA lech lishon ! ur article is irrelevant !
(09.03.05)
We israelis made concessions enough and to return in the 1967 borders is simply a suicide . This land is our land not the arab ones ! U stupid Leftists with always all the same ''ideas'' that u repeat all the time..We already have seen the results !
3. A so-called moderate
Arik   (09.03.05)
The end of Arab crimes is not an issue to be negociated but a pre-requisite to any negociation. The real deal is no more land for peace but peace for peace. The real deal is now Arab concessions for Arab concessions. Arabs lost 7 agression wars, they must pay a high price for their ruthless agressions. If they really want peace, they must accept that: no return to pre-1967 armistice lines, no "right" of return, not a single square inch of Jerusalem and only of Judea and Sam. No free lunch for Arabs, they were offered by Barak what Hanania asks, they refused and started a vicious and criminal war, they have to pay a high price for this.

You are a cancer for Israel. You fill in your mouth with "this land is ours" and so on...and "my people" Peace with egipt and jordan was achieved thru concessions...but at that time probably some other airheads like you were saying the same you do. In this life, it's not enough to be right my friend, you also need the moral authority to do what you preach, and people like you simply doesn't have it....Stupid leftists? uy uy uy, it's the same thing that people wearing svastikas and fascists icons shout to leftists in europe...so now u see with which people u can compare to...honestly, i prefer being a stupid leftist than a fascist. Have a nice day. אהבה ושלום לישראל

6. Ray, the jews dont want to be moderate
(09.04.05)
looks like from these talkbacks, they want it ALL. according to these recent jew immigrants from Brooklyn and Russia,-- they OWN PALESTINE,-- though the old arab ladies in east jerusalem and the west bank and gaza, have been living in the same humble house ( well the ones not bulldozed by the IDF) since they were born which their great great great great grandfathers built. I would send many of these racist zionists letters to US congress. Condi, would never stand for it.
7. to #6: send this one to Condi
Arik   (09.04.05)
My family lived in Algeria for 2000 years and was ethnically cleansed by Arabs. Hypocrits like you never sent letters to the US Congress to support my family.
8. So one evil deserves another?
Naim Hassan ,   New York   (09.04.05)
So Arik's logic is that one crime deserves creating another? Arik was mistreated in Algeria -- (only Jews are allowed to make outrageous claims they lived there for 2000 years) -- so he feels it's okay to violate the rights of Palestinians, who had nothing to do with his "abuse." My suggestion, you can go back to Algeria any time you want. In fact, let all the Jews go back to their homes inA rab countries and let the Palestinians return to their country. My guess is that people like Arik always love to blame everyone else for their own troubles. It makes stealing someone else's land that muche easier.
9. Need a dictionnary?
yoe   (09.04.05)
What's the point of this article? I have already a dictionnary to explain the word "moderate", it's not necessary to say it all that long. If claiming to be moderate means to stand above all the people and claim that I'm the only one to be right.... Then, I prefer to be classified as an extremist. It's so easy to say that others are extremists, and then it's so normal to claim others have no credibility. Extremists have to be banned, because any dialog is simply impossible...?? Completely agree with Arik # 3 and 7. Also about Jews from Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and the list could be even longer.
10. naim; "Palestinians" are Arabs who belong in Arabia!
Daisy ,   USA   (09.04.05)
There has never been a "Palestinian" country or people. In fact Jews have always lived in Israel and when more Jews arrived in Israel from Europe in the 1880's very few Arabs lived in the area. http://www.sullivan-county.com/id3/palestine.htm
11. Arab great great grandfathers lived in Arab not Israel!
Daisy ,   USA   (09.04.05)
Very few Arabs lived in Israel at the early part of the 19th century. LIARS! http://www.sullivan-county.com/id3/palestine.htm
12. This article and some of the replies are pathetic
Z. Duckdwort ,   Topeka Kansas   (09.04.05)
I would imagine that Ray Hanania, in his attempt to be politically correct, decided to compare Israelis to Palestinians in their extremism. The problem is that his article becomes nonsense and poor journalism. First, his requirements of the Palestinians are insufficient. Besides ending their armed resistance (in violation of the Oslo agreements), the PA has to not only condemn suicide bombings in Englis and Arabic, they must make a concerted effort to stop this plague. I also question his statement of the legal right of return. Remember. the Arabs left after Israel was invaded by Arab armies. If the Arabs had accepted the partition plan of the UN, there would have been no refugee problem. Hanania's "moderate" demands on Israel were already offered to the Palestinians by Barak and Pres. Clinton and responded to by Arafat's terror war. Interestingly how some of the responders voiced their hatred and extremism. Also interesting was Hanania's arrogant nonsense about Hebrew and Arabic.
13. *8* So ridiculous! READ IT NAIM!!!
paris   (09.04.05)
1/The jews are not allowed to get back to arab countries and haven't received anything till then!!( this is your first lie) i am also a victim ;my family fled too but I think most of the jews will never go back to arab countries !! why? they stink so much, even if we are paid Iwill never go back there! they can keep my house! They can do whatever they want! I think the jews just want to be compensated but the arabs know that israel has been transformed into a wealthy state so they are claiming houses that were already destroyed and replaced by much modern one for a vast majoity of them. 800,000 jews from arab states have been expelled and 600,000 arabs from Israel have been expelled, forced to flee by fear. An agreement could be concluded for an exchange. 2/ This land was not stolen according to the UN (Your 2nd lie). By international laws, this land (from the sea to the jordan river) belongs to the jews and the palestinians. It has to be separated into two distinct states, peace negociations will resume in order to create a permanent border. 3/ The arabs refused first and violated the right of israel to exist (your 3rd lie!) Naim, you probably are not that ignorant and I will ask you just one question ... WHO DECLARED THE WAR IN 1948?... (i hope you won't tell another lie!! your fourth one... in 10 lines ...) 4/ You have also forgotten to mention that the ARABS ARE VIOLATING the rights of palestinians even today!( lebanon, koweit, jordan and so on...) They are granted very small rights. I think Israel is maybe the only state of the middle east to have granted rights to the arabs, the same the jews and others have been granted... sad but true! 5/ PLEASE STOP SPREADING LIES BECAUSE THEY CAUSE SO MANY WARS AND KILL SO MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE! Well, it's man like you that are slowing the peace process between the two people.
14. Pathetic
Jordi Gomis ,   Barcelona, Catalunya   (09.04.05)
it's very sad to see how all of you can be discussing about facts back to even 5000 years ago...very very sad, it doesn't lead anywhere, absolutely anywhere. Jews should start looking to the future more than to the past, and arabs...well guys, have a look around, what ways you use to claim things...blood, blood and more blood. While israel welcomed all jews expelled from arab countries, what have the arab contries done for their 'palestinian brothers'? Citizenship? help (not in form of weapons)? nothing...they've been using palestinians as weapon. Muslims should start learning that violence will not bring them anything....not in israel, london, madrid or new york...the only thing you get remaining silent with the attrocities your religious leaders commit is getting non muslims away from you, being scared from you...raise your voices against those who are cheating you guys, the same way the west stands agaist disgusting things like the iraq war (the paranoias from a stupid president put all of us in danger). you all talk about god's promises, fighting in name of god, etc... christians, jews and muslims...guys, if this is what god has to offer us, he can go and get lost. And finally, for daisy.....did ever a country like the USA existed? denying the right of palestinians to have a state is denying the right of the USA to exist...when did USA's nationalism show up? 1000b.c??? no...it came after a bunch of auropeans moved to america, killed everyone around and after that, a nationalistic feeling grew in there...soooooo...what u have to say ms daisy? peace and love for israel
15. jordi; "Palestinians" have never existed!
Daisy ,   USA   (09.05.05)
The Arabs invented the term in the 1970's to steal Jewish land. There has never been a "Palestinian" country or people. These Arabs can go back to their Arab homelands where they came from. Read the link below idiot. http://www.sullivan-copunty.com/id3/palestine.htm

Arik   (09.06.05)
My family was not mistreated in Algeria, my family suffered the loss of 3 wonderful persons ruthlessly murdered by Arab terrorists. A friend of my family went back home and found his wife and his two children hung to a butcher hook. Nice mistreatments don't you think so. You tell me that only Jews claims they were living in Algeria 2000 years ago. We never told that, before Arab conquest of Algeria, the Jews and the Christians were living very peacefully in this country. As a matter of fact, the resistance against the Muslim invasion was led by a Jewish queen ruling an army of Jews and Christians. You claim that I violate the rights of the Fakestinians, you know what, I don't give a damn about these so-called rights. These Arabs must choose, either living peacefully either going back to their motherland.
19. A True Sense of Proportion
Shimon Z. Klein ,   Bat Chefer, Israel   (09.07.05)
Ray, I could not agree with you more. Your assessment is correct and if only more people on both sides of the great divide would come to your conclusions, peace would be attainable. Both sides have their extremists which in no small measure are responsible for the deadlock which shows no sign of abating. You are a true voice of moderation and sanity.

I agree with you on every word you said! being moderate is not an easy choice but needs a lot of patience, self-confidence and courage...as long as you and many brave guys, in both sides will continue their noble battle, be sure that peace will prevail on day...May Allah bless Israel and Palestine. arab4israel@yahoo.com Texas, USA

I'd like you to join me on stage when I perform my Palestinian-Jewish comedy act. You have a great sense of humor, ingenuity and sense of satire. It's what Palestinians and Israelis need if we are going to find our way out of this mess. I wish there were more people like you, and also some of the great good people who have shared their positive thoughts here. Ray Hanania

daniel ,   amsterdam   (09.09.05)
First of all, what you say makes sence theoretically. It certainly is heartwarming to read this comming from a Palestinian. Especially when you debate European lefties who support the destruction of the Jewish state. But anyway, can concessions work? It goes like this.... Once the Palestinians really renounce terrorism, we will be willing to make concessions. But renouncing terrorism doesn't mean not commiting any suicide attacks for three weeks, or saying nice things in English and bloodcurling things in Arabic. Israel was so eager for peace it accepted this during the 90ies. Peace was more important than anything else, right? Wrong I don't think Jews would be willing to compromise on what is their most central focus point of their religion -Jerusalem- after going through the deceit of the Oslo peace process. I recently reread the letters Yasser Arafat send to Rabin promising never to use violence ever again. There has to be some accountability over that. Somehow Palestinians have to demonstrate that their word can be trusted. And not just Palestinians. We must know that peace is not a temporary situation that exists as long as Israel is too strong for any Arab army to defeat. Peace must be...ehm...well, the willingness to let each other be. And I don't think that's gonna happen because Palestinians have their own gripes and right or wrong, that's what they believe. Remember Rabin coming back from Washington after shaking hands with Arafat? What did he say: This will not lead to a Palestinian state. And what did Sharon say: There must be a Palestinian state. This is not the result of terrorism? Of course it is. So why stop there? So...dunno...I think we're gonna be stuck for a while in this situation untill something happends. Either democracy is going to take hold in Irak and change the region, or Islamic fundamentalism will take over and do the same.
26. wrong daniel
Duv   (09.10.05)
Not all palestinians are that way. The leadership is some good some bad, but we have the same in Israel too. We all have to work with what we have. But we can try lay down our guns for a second and talk with moderate palestinians like Ray It doesnt mean he has to agree with us all the time and we have to agree with him all the time We all have different beliefs and ideas about how things should or should not be The important point is this: talking is a lot less painfull than violence. The most you could get is a moderate headache. Should all the suicide bombings and shootings from the palestinian side cease? Yes, but to expect it to go away totally is being a little naive. So while we hunt the bad apples we can talk with good people like Ray. He's a good man. Dont pay attention to what daisy shmaisy from america says. And there are many like him. Not all arabs are bad either. I know many beduins, theyre nice people
27. Hi Duv
daniel ,   amsterdam   (09.12.05)
I have no problem with Ray and that's my problem. His arguments are essentially Israeli or western (if you want.) It's the ability to know you are right without insisting you get the full 100%. It's like zionists who believe Jews have a right to live in the land of Israel but do not need to live in every part of it. We are already that far, we reached that stage. We already are willing to compromise. The problem is that the Palestinians, backed by leftist intellectuals feel absolutely no need to make any consession whatsoever.
28. Racism
Judith Levy ,   Holon   (11.27.08)
I am really shocked that you say Palestinians must accept Israel as a Jewish state. Democratic states are ones that are states for all it's citizens, not giving more rights to one group of people than another. I do not believe it is moderate position to say Israel should be accepted as a Jewish state. What not just a state. Do you think Israel should prevent Arab or Druze or Christian leaders of political parties inside the Knesset from ever attaining a majority lest they damage the Jewish character of the state. I wonder what Barak Obama would think of that.
