Sorry to hear about Bat Galim. I lived on Aliyah St. with a wonderful family while I studied HU. I heard that it became a windsurfing spot. I remember soldiers in a camp back in 1962 along the street. Seeking Eliezer Katz who was an electrician in that area. I read about him in Hadassah Magazine recently. Tzipporah Ehrlich and I have reunited through a message where her son Oz, contacted me. We would love to contact him if possible.

My name is Itzhak and I agree very much with Gili Sofer's well written article about Bat Galim. I too feel a great sadness about its neglect over a very long period. I served in the Israeli Navy and started my service at the Navy Base in Bat Galim and even then it looked neglected and as if it was waiting for somebody to love it again. I have been living in the UK for a while, but always tried to visit the area when ever I visited Israel and even had the pleasure of eating at the fish restaurant by the crumbling "Casino" but I was always baffled about the reason for the neglect of this charming neighborhood. Yet the City Council of Haifa spent a fortune on the German Colony but not on the area of Bat Galim which could also do with some TLC to turn it into a great seaside place once again. However, with the right investment and people who care!!!! it could be a lovely place to live and have fun.
