It's far more worrisome that the UK determined it could grant an arrest warrant for any Israeli on their soil for more or less any reason under the aegis of simply being Israeli. What is happening here is that the UK is slowly but surely implementing special Jewish citizenship laws which sets aside a special category for any person, typically a Jew who has served in the IDF as having extremely limited civil rights in the UK. Any Israeli can be charged as a warcriminal and rounded up accordingly. This should make one pause. Because the idiot smiling Machover is not the problem. The idea that we are once again seeing the leading edge of a new and improved Nuremburg Racial Laws is the real problem. Certainly when or if things like this are implemented it's usually the Machovers of the world who are the first one's up the chimney - so there's no problem there. But it will be horribly late for the rest of us.

Guilt and shame, exaggerated sense of entitlement, etc etc. I read somewhere that Machover's family were "forced" to leave Israel after their opposition to the acquisition of territories after the Six Days War. They must be tender weeds indeed - many Israelis disagreed publicly with Israel's policies, including Amos Oz, and remained in Israel and are free to voice their opinions. Their lot is vastly better than that of Palestinians who dare to criticise the Palestinian Authority.

Being a British Subject, I strongly object to the talkback written by Linda Rivera. There are people in Britain who are anti-semitic but they are in the MINORITY. I am neither for Israel nor am I against but what I am against is the fact that those (British)who choose to side with Palestine and accept that child suicide bombers are due to the desperation of the people of Palestine. What mother would allow her child to be used in such a fashion? Which leads me to your article, I am ashamed that Machover reared his ugly head and simply on the basis that a child was denied help. People tend to forget that todays children are our future. The facs of the matter are simple: international law says that everyone of us is accountable in any jurisdiction which is party to the Geneva conventions. The facts were put before a UK court and there was sufficient evidence for an arrest warrant to be issued. The IDF is not above the law, whatever it might wish to think. I see one person saying that Israel should withdraw her ambassador. I for one would welcome this provided he's not allowed to return. In the meantime, the military attache who committed a crime under UK law by boarding the plane and thereby perverted the course of justice whould be expelled immediately.
