1. Moroccan Israelis
NYC Girl   (09.30.05)
A lot of people may not be aware of the fact that, prior to the influx of Russians to Israel, Morrocans made up the largest ethnic group there.

5. To Moshe #4
YOEL ,   Switzerland   (10.02.05)
I'm so sorry if you don't know anything about morrocan jews, even if this community is quite widely spread in Israel: Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beer Sheva, Ashdod, Netanya, Haifa, Dimona etc.... We have a lot of Rabbis well-known around the world, and even two of them were rencently head of the Israeli rabanout (Ovadia Yossef, Shlomo Amar). Please tell them they're not Jewish! YES, we have strong ties with the muslim community, and I'm very proud about it. I grew-up there, learnt a lot about tolerance, and we always lived together in peace and harmony. You could learn lots of things from us if you wish once to live in a peaceful Israel; even if I know palestinians are not yet ready for that. Finally, I need to add something which was not in the article: we , Jews for Morocco are all grateful to the actual king's grandfather, the so-called Mohammed V. During world war II, Morrocco was under french occupation, and Nazis wanted also to eradicate morrocan jews. That king (Z"L) decided to fight Nazis, while he had only horses and rifles. He was a hero, and he proved to consider us as equal citizens: no difference between us, the best proof against racism. And That's why are not part of the victims from Shoa ! Your remark reminds me another one from an american tourist who thought we have no electricity and use to ride camels or horses. Ignorance and clichés... This was a message from an uneducated arab Ph-D living abroad. It sounds like saying swiss people grow-up cows for milk and chocolate, live in mountains.... It's only a trap for tourists who want to take pictures while staying in their buses...
6. moshe
marc   (10.02.05)
Moshe Morrocan jews are the descebdanbts of sepharadim from Spain. It should not really matter we are all jews anyway. I am white and Ashkenzi, and for me a Jew is a Jew is a Jew. Yemenite, Ethiopian, Kurdi, Bukhara, etc. I would consider it death to marry a white goy, than marry a jew of a different ethnicity or race, because they are our people-aren't we one!?
7. Moshe
Rachel ,   Toronto   (10.02.05)
Moishik is a racist, an ignoramus, a provocateur and a Khazar to boot. Why? For the following reasons: 1. Genetic research links Moroccan Jews to the ancient Israelites 2. Arabic people come in all shades from syrian blond to sudanese black just like jews 3. 60% of people in Algeria and 50% in Morocco are berbers not even arabs and are fighting to be recognized as distinct people. They are upset if you call them arabs because arabs are invaders and they are the natives 4. The old generation of moroccan jews spoke a dialect which is a mishmash of arabic, berber, hebre, spanish and french . It is NOT intelligible to arab speakers from the ME. Furthermore they wrote this dialect in HEBREW letters way BEFORE it became the language of Israel 5. The Mid East has turcs, iranians, kurds , etc. All non arab! 6. what is a true Jew? SOme cossack from a shtetl? 7. And FINALLY! WE GET TO DEFINE OURSELVES. NOT YOU! And WE DEFINE OURSELVES AS SEPHARDIC JEWS born in Morocco. WHETHER YOU LIKE OR NOT! So many losers in Israel !
8. Pour Joel . Un extrait d'un journal
Rachel ,   Toronto   (10.02.05)
9. Rachel, Toronto
Yoel   (10.02.05)
Thanks for responding To Moshe as you did....
10. Semitic
Egyptian ,   Egypt   (10.02.05)
First it’s not of my business. But according the DNA studies the Jews from North Africa have more Semitic genes (close to 90%) than Jews from Europe (less than 50%).
11. Rachel
Moshe ,   Tel Aviv   (10.02.05)
Stop denying your arabic blood. Have you checked the genetic similarities between arabs and "Sephardic Jews" or "Morrocan Jews". Believe me, you will find more similarities with the arab genetics than the ancient Israelites. Why we keep denying these facts. Where Abraham came, who are the semites.!!! It's ok to be a an arab jew. Historically before Islam many arabs were Jews and Christians, and when Islam came many of those converted to Isalm and others didn't. We see same families in the middle east carrying both religions. Jewish and Moslems, or Christians and Moslems. These are facts. Be careful of what you learn at those Canadian yeshevas. Bottom line, let's be more open minded, and tolerant...May God Bless all his man kind...
12. Marc...
Moshe   (10.02.05)
Marc, you consider it death to marry a white goy. Why don't you marry an ethiopian Jew (Black Jew). Would you consider it blessing, or death.... Come on guy... be honest to yourself and others...It doesn't hurt to be honest...Don't limit your choices when you want to get married "white boy" Khazar. By the way most of you are converts. Your ancestors converted to Judaism when your king adopted Judaism in the 12 century... It's ok to be a jew be conversion...don't be ashame of it...We will accept you and love you..... but don't think you have the same genitcs like the Morrocan guys...You are completely 2 different races. You might practice the same religion but this woun't make you the same race... TODAH
13. Single Moroccan Girls
Shai ,   North NJ   (10.02.05)
Anyone know of any single Jewish Moroccan girls out there? I'm 23 living in north NJ and can'y find any!
14. an astonishing conversation!
Gary ,   Montreal, Canada   (10.03.05)
The "Egyptian" tells us that genetic histories of Ashkenazim show that Jews "from" Europe has less than 50% "Semitic" genes. Yet he is completely wrong -- it's been shown that the genes of Ashkenazim are closer to those of other peoples actually living in the Levant, than to those of Europeans. "Moshe", who claims to be from Israel, argues that Morroccan Jews are in fact not Jes at all -- yet he is completely wrong. Jews have a long history of living many places in North Africa as in many places in the world. This is a long and continuous history. Perhaps he could learn a new word. It is "diaspora"! Rachel reiterates Moshe's slur by talking about "some cossak from a shtetl", as though now the Ashkenazim don't exist either -- no migration to Slavic countries, no diaspora there as well. Yoel panders to the world's anti-Zionists by declaring himself to be a "juif-arabe", a term that no Jew who lived in an Arab-run county ever used, and which is today used mainly by those who want to insist that there is no Jewish people -- just a bunch of Slavs, Khazars, Arabs, etc who happen to practice a Jewish "faith" or "religion". An idea abhorrent to the Jewish people, as anyone who has ever picked up a Hagaddah knows! I am truly astonished by the depths of silliness here.

Nice comment, yeah there are alot, you just have to find us. ; )
16. I'm speaking about the percentage
Egyptain ,   Egypt   (10.03.05)
I'm speaking about the percentage; it was published in a paper by an American professor, this was his findings. Yes the genes of most Jews from the entire world are similar to ancient Jews; I didn’t say it’s not. You can not tell me that Moses was white man with blue eyes. Some Jews can not handle that other Jews can live in a Muslim country, but this was the situation before the foundation of Israel. And It’s good that this situation still exist.
17. Moshe is really Moussa

20. moshe is obviously an arab, faking to be a jew in tel-aviv
Yonatan ,   Israel   (10.04.05)

21. Morroccan Women!
Jared ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.04.05)
Sephardic women in general are gorgeous at least the one's i've met at school! Iranian Jewish women are gorgeous too! I agree with Yehuda about Yemenite women! Also, this Moshe character stfu; if u have nothing nice to say; say nothing!!! Let's not forget about the many thousands of Sephardic Jews who fled arab countries www.jimena.org
22. 14 has it absolutely right!
Jared ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.05.05)
Well those of Sephardic/Ashkenazi descent are all Jews! Stop this nonsense about who's more Jewish it's irrelevant. Grow up people!
23. to Gary n°14
yoel   (10.05.05)
I reacted to another comment... please do replace my reaction in a certain context. I can't do anything against your astonishment. Just remember I'm Jew like you, and I have no reason to accept denial about my origins and identity. Anti-Zionist? No comment, I have nothing to prove. You cannot make your opinion about me by reading a single short text. Moshe was claiming we all look like arabs, and our genes are different from others... We originally came from Spain, but... Genes, faces, mentality have nothing to do with religion. The only parameter to be taken in account is: any jewish mother gives birth to a jewish child... Whoever should be the father. Then, religious education comes as a bonus. Just to say: we are all jews, but some of you decide to point out differences instead of watching what we all have in common. By those reactions, we divide artificially the jewish people in different categories. This is the real anti-Zionist behaviour that helps paletinians by making israeli society weaker, and easier to attack. What can you tell about Haggadah? That everybody knows?? Do tell us which sentences I missed even if I read it twice per year...
24. Joel, I love your opinion...
Jacob ,   Palmdale, CA   (10.06.05)
Joel, I think your opinion is very interesting. Howaver each person has it's right to say anything.... the freedom of opinion is well knowen in Israel.... and that the way we have to view it as a reflection of "negative" opinion. Thank you!
25. Morrocan Jews
Marina ,   USA   (05.08.06)
No wonder why nobody likes us... cuz we don't like each other. "The ultimate question" - who is more Jewish...oh my. I'm mixed(Ashkanazi & Sephardic) Therefore, I been biased all my life cuz I'mnot Ashkanazi enough, and I'm not Sephardic enough. All this talk just makes me puke... Throughout the history some way or another we all simulated the other lifestyles, and cultures of the places we were born. This is the way it is! In USA most of the Jews celebrate Thanksgiving...(is this a Jewish holiday as well? Does it make us less Jewish?)

27. Moroccan jews
Zulu ,   Marrakesh/Morocco   (12.14.09)
I highly respect each and everyone's opinions and views but please remember that your views are not news, some of you think that arabs are a religion, being an arab is a race not a religion, there is enough space in this world for all of us to live in complete harmony, the moroccan jews is a good example and we are proud of our jewish people wherever they have ended up in this wide world.
