1. Where he's right he's right!
Matthias ,   Switzerland   (10.04.05)
Usually I do not at all agree with Beilin but in this point he is totally right: Sharon cannot be trusted, above all not by the residents of Judea and Samaria. But still I doubt that Beilin is legitimate to criticize Sharon as architect of 'Oslo'.
2. Mr Beilin
Daavid ,   Usa   (10.04.05)
Mr Beilin you are a fool. You Oslo accord brought nothing but havoc to Israel. You are not in touch with reality, you live in a dream world . I srael was built by settlers and not by people like you living in Metropolitan areas. You should be grateful to the pioneers who protected you and Israel while you were educating yourself.
3. At least Arik doesn t fool us on behalf of the
Uzziel   (10.04.05)
European Union, receiving funds from Eurabia to promote harmful projects for Israel and sitting in the Knesset at the same time. For these reasons I haven t even read your article. Say as you please.
4. Beilin is jelous
daniel ,   amsterdam   (10.04.05)
The left sees Sharon implementing their policy and reaping the benefits. Sharon is praised and popular. Remember how people like Beilin demonised Sharon? Remember the Tsav 8 threat during the elections? Well obviously they feel jelous! They would like to get all the attention but instead it is going to their longtime enemy. Poor Beilin
5. Beillin
Bill Pearlman ,   Chicago, USA   (10.04.05)
I'm not the greatest fan of Ariel Sharon but Yossi Beillin is a pretty reliable opposite indicator. Whatever he is for has to be bad for Israel hence Sharon actually must be doing a good job.
6. Yossi Beilin's delusions
ronit ,   ei-sham, Israel   (10.05.05)
In 1993 most Israeli leftists believed in leftist ideas because they thought ''Palestine'' would pursue peace. Today those remaining on the left support Palestinian statehood because they know ''Palestine'' will pursue war. In 1993 most leftists believed in leftist ideas because they thought sraeli concessions would lead to Arab moderation. Today.s leftists know that these concessions are seen as signs of weakness that catalyze and energize Arab violence and that is why they demand more of them. n 1993 most leftists believed in Israeli restraint because they thought it would stimulate Palestinian goodwill.Polls are showing that Israelis oppose the Beilin-proposed capitulations by at least two to one, and Israeli Jews oppose them by about five to one. Today.s leftists demand endless restraint because they do not want Israel to fight terror at all. They want terror to triumph. In 1993 most leftists believed in leftist ideas because they thought Israel would emerge stronger if Oslo were implemented. Today.s leftists advocate the very same ''process'' . witness the Beilin-proposed Capitulations . because they desire to see Israel weakened and dismembered. The left of 1993 was by and large a left that could be awakened from its delusions by Palestinian atrocities, endless violations of PLO commitments, Arab betrayal, and the increasingly nazified rhetoric of both Palestinians and Israeli Arabs. The left of 2004 does not need awakening because it has no delusions that Oslo and its ''Road Map'' will produce peace. It supports the Road Map precisely because it knows it will not lead to peace but to a new all-out Arab assault on Israel. The Leftists and their overseas apologists will do anything in their power to underm ine the will of the electorate in Israel and the will of the Jews to survive. They will undermine any government the Israeli voters select. They have no scruples when it comes to collaboration with the worst anti-Semites of the planet. The leftists of 2005 have no delusions that an independent ''Palestine'' will live at peace alongside Israel. They demand a solution precisely because they know it will NOT live at peace with Israel.
7. Beilin who?
Inyaki ,   Bilbao, Basque   (10.05.05)
Not very bright, not very able, not very honest, not very loyal, not very educaded, just a mediocrity. Why on earth one should take Beilin's opinion seriously? I certainly wouldn't. I wonder he takes seriousely himself? Though people with his characteristics: not very bright, not very able, not very honest, not very loyal, not very educaded., just a mediocrity do tend to take themselves seriousely. Inyaki. Since everything must be put in proportion, Netanyahu's qualifications ( to compare) are as follow: very bright, very able, not very honest, not very loyal, very well educated ( includes Ivy League Universities), very much not a mediocrity.
8. Mistrust
joe ,   Israel   (10.05.05)
Yossi Beilin isusually on target when ut comes to analysis. His proposals are something else however. He is correct in pointing out that the problem is the Israeli voter to whom integrity-no word for it in Hebrew, character, and credibility play minor roles in choosing elected officials. They tend to treat elections like a soccer game; winning is the name of the game and not who should govern us. Perhaps six more years of a Sharon government will eventually purge us of electing second-rate leaders for whom we have to hold our noses when voting for them.
9. Mr. Belin
Or ,   Israel   (10.05.05)
If mistrust were an issue Mr. Belin, why should Israel ever trust the palestinians again? Where in this world does anything work on a one way street? Actions and deeds Mr. Belin. This is what makes a real society not a fake one for self-hating Jews who feel the more they give the more they will be loved. Have you not read one history book Mr. Belin? Or is your soup de'jour one of revisionism which fits your lack of self worth? Great societies both weak and strong earn their freedoms. Freedom comes from deep within. It can not be given with nothing in return. That we call Oslo by the way. Like an out of control spoiled teenager or a fallen down drunk, positive actions not appeasement and excuse making turn the tide. Giving them more and giving in more only creates a monster. Or have you not walked through the freshly dug graves of innocent Israelis these past years? Sadly, you and others are the co-dependents of the drunks and the out of control spoiled teenagers. In many respects, I hold you more to blame then the perpetrators. You want to give more and build more superficial phony trust then find an island somewhere and make a new society. I can not afford to lose one more family member because your self worth means less then those who want to kill us. Mr. Yossie Belin, from one liberal to the other, allow me to say, you embarass me. You go so far to the left in ways which defy reality that it makes me look like the raving right! You are so far to the moronic left that my ultra liberal ancestors are doing cart wheels in their graves. Mr. Belin, in case you have not noticed in every case the perpetrator is not the victim but the one held to the fire. Mr. Belin, you like the other Yossie and the Amira Hass-asses and the ultra left whom you all embrace, disgust me. It makes me ashamed to say I am a liberal.
10. Beilin vs Sharon
Ariel ,   Canberra, Australia   (10.06.05)
Over the last few years (and particularly since the announcement of Disengagement), I have read Yossi "Where's my Knesset seat, Dude?" Beilin's arguments in the press against Prime Minister Sharon. He has consistently pointed out Sharon's various "hidden agendas" and I have consistently agreed with his assessments that the PM has something up his sleeve vis-a-vis the "situation". The only difference is that Mr Beilin thinks these "hidden agendas" are evil, whilst I (and I am sure many others) think they are brilliant tactics which will strengthen Israel. Who will trust Sharon? Me.
11. Beilin - you cannot fool us again
Harry ,   Sydney, Australia   (10.06.05)
In my opinion, Yossi Beilin should look in the mirror and reflect on his "achievements" as politician before critisising the current leader of the country. I feel that Yossi Beilin has a very short list of achievements and credibility in the area of added value to Israel. The Oslo and later Geneva "peace initiatives" could have been disastrous to Israel. Yossi Beilin cannot fool us again! Am Israel Chai!
12. Beilin's haloween
Yardena ,   Israel   (10.11.05)
Ah Yossi Beilin none other than a fundamentalist leftist who created the Geneva Nonsense My guess is that if there ever really will be a state of Palestine, it will issue stamps with the mugs of the two ex-spooks, Yossi Beilin and Shimon Peres who served Palestinian interests so faithfully.
