And that tsunami in Asia? That was us too. In fact, we also cause hurricanes and earthquakes.
2. we know t he ortho-fascists r here we're ready 4 them
(10.20.05)
3. Ortho-fascism ? Yes I believe it is possible...
hiram ,   tel aviv   (10.20.05)
The Israeli cooking pot contains exactly the same ingredients as the Islamic cooking pan although the ingredients are - for the time being- in different proportions. They hve Islamic fanatics, we have religious zealots...they have corrupt politicnas, so do we, their fanatics are convinced that there is no salvation besides Allah, our zealots are convinced that whoever is non-orthodox is only worth contempt ( except when a non-orthodox stop his car to pick-up an orthodox Jew hitchiking....)They have shariah, we have mandatory religious marriage and implication of rabbis in daily life...They have poverty....so do we...they want to rule social life and decide what is authorized and what is not...so do we....They have their loonies...we do too.... We are not different and the risk of becoming a theocracy , not a democracy...is for real..Israel will only survive if state affairs are separated from religious factors. Short of taking this important decision, the country is bound to be destroyed slowly from inside by religious zealots and fanatics of all kind and breed, starting to tie down public phones and ending in putting a clamp on public's lives... Indeed, we are nothing else in this country than arabs with blue eyes....we have exactly the same mentality.....shame on us...shame on those who us GOD , any kind of GOD to justify stupid, foolish, and sometimes criminal decisions....
4. are you a fascit post sionist ?
Cordier Fabrice   (10.20.05)
Don t you have ennemis (antisemites, neo nazis, hamas, al qaeda, arab nationalists etc...) to create another ? is the role of a newspaper to let people say stupidity ?
5. Youngsters at rallies
r ,   Jerusalem   (10.20.05)
My husband claims he went to these rallies in this youth as it was a great place to meet girls - important when you go to Ezra and a religious school
6. Unbelievable
Jay ,   Los Angeles   (10.20.05)
I offer sympathy to anyone who sincerely belives that this is a realistic description of the religious public.
7. Yishai from Yesh
Michael ,   Haifa   (10.20.05)
exaggerating as usual..you are incorrigible
8. Hope This Comes To Fruition Sooner rather Than Later
Adina kutnicki ,   Nj, US   (10.20.05)
I hope this "nightmare" comes true. This would be the only scenario to save Israel from itself and from the Islamists & assorted antisemites worldwide.
9. Incitement
Marcel ,   Florida   (10.20.05)
These arrogant power elite should be worried, their phony peace and appeasment deals have run their course. Instead of dealing with the Isalmic threat to the state ,this coward attacks his own flesh and blood. He should be arrested and tried for incitement.
10. Typical Far Left Drivel
(10.20.05)
With the Left, if you don't adhere to every single tiny bit of their rigid, wacky guidelines, then you're a: Nazi, Fascist, etc. This Brison has just completely lost the plot. I don't know where to begin. Perhaps he should grow up and learn not to call people with opposing beliefs 'fascists.' As a Secular, I think I'd prefer a Religious Government. It's time something changed in Israel - the society is rotten to the core.
11. "using democratic ways"
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (10.20.05)
"They will first start using democratic ways." So what does the Shinui MK propose? Take away the right to vote from Orthodox Jews to prevent them from electing candidates who are sympathetic to the idea of a Jewish state being, er, Jewish? That would be imposing preemptory fascism in order to prevent, um, fascism. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
12. One pimp down....
Ilan ,   Ariel   (10.20.05)
but Brisons still has immunity as an MK
13. this wouldnt be a bad idea
Eyal ,   Brazil   (10.20.05)
since most of israelis completely lost the sense of judaism/zionism since we see new inmigrants wearing crosses in the neck since lately in my ex-kibutz i was informed there was a BIG meal of Yom kipur in the night of yom kipur followed by a big party in the kibutz and in the pub with free food...not that everyone should be OBLIGATED to fast cos each one decides what is better for his/her life...but it was all promoted by the kibutz..an israeli organization or the way u wanna call it since we see judaism and jews disappearing in the rest of the world since israel is besides our home, its the land where judaism has its "shorashim" (how do u say it in english?) the most pessimistic statistics say jews in the diaspora will be finished by 2030...so it wouldnt be so bad, since we have to save our people, our traditions...which thanks to them we exist nowadays as a nation more than as a country
14. HOW ABOUT LEFT-WING STALINISM? IDIOT
(10.20.05)
15. Absolutely correct
Michael Steiner ,   Praha, EU   (10.20.05)
As a secular Zionist, I hold that MK Brison is entirely right and all normal and decent Jews should be on our guard. The datim are vaciferous and blind in their hatred, and will stop at nothing to get their way. They already wield a vastly disproportionate influence in haAretz and their wings have to be clipped.
16. Ms. Kutnicki's Judeo-fascist colours r showing.
(10.20.05)
well I for one am not surprised. excepting of course that she should have called for a straight theocracy and not for an ortho-fascist/judeo-fascist dictatorship.
17. Ms. Kutnicki's Judeo-fascist colours r showing.
(10.20.05)
well I for one am not surprised. excepting of course that she should have called for a straight theocracy and not for an ortho-fascist/judeo-fascist dictatorship.
18. Abdul Steiner
Marcel ,   Florida   (10.20.05)
Orwellian times when up is down and evil is called good and good is called evil. There is no such thing as a secular zionist., but there is such a thing as evil. Abdul Steiner who calls itself a 'secular zionist' as he teams up with the radical islamo-fasciists to attack the faithful remnant in Israel ,the true remaining zionists. He is in evil company and will be for eternity. No parole ,no release after bema !
19. udder paranoia
Caro ,   Beaver,USA   (10.20.05)
we will get, eventually, not only the cow,...but a red one.:)
20. Nonsense
Dani ,   USA   (10.21.05)
This labelling of NRP as "Ortho-Fascism" is nonsensical and paranoid. Shinui too wants to "take over the state" - they cannot imagine that anyone who hasn't abandoned the primitive and irrational belief in a superior being is able to think clearly enough to belong to a polity. Perhaps Brison should move to France where his anti-Judaism will get some traction. Claiming, however, that there will be a coup a la the Nazis by religious Jews is simply polemical and shows a critical misunderstanding of, and undisguised hatred for, those of a religious bent. Mr. Brison is using the propaganda techniques of fascists to brand others as fascists - if he was really concerned about the welfare of the Jewish State, he would work towards a mutual reconcilliation, rather than pushing his opponent to the wall. What sane person labelled an "Ortho-Fascist" by him would ever want to engage in positive dialogue with this demagogue?
21. typical pravda-like stuff
mordy   (10.21.05)
Bizon spits out hate. While certainly there are those in the dati camp that would like to see theocracy imposed, there are many more of those who, if the need be, will stand up against anyone who will try to usurp the democratic character of Israel. Religious Zionism has always been based on the partnership of religious and secular, and noone in their right mind is trying to undermine the secular state. However, on the secular front, there are consistent attempts to take away the core elements that make Israel a Jewish state, even at the expense of hate and destruction of the Tradition. This creates a significant rift not just between religious and secular society, but between Israel and world Jewish community that values tradition. Bizon represents the latter trend, but thankfully, I think noone will take what he says seriously. In the end, everyone will just go on living their lives except a few lunatics on both sides/
22. Yes, this is a bogus quiet, the terrorists will never give
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (10.21.05)
trying to kill every Jew in the world. You neogotiate from strength. When the terrorists know they will be killed if they attack, they wait, they don't give up. When bush and his cronies want Israel to make concessions without equal concessions, the terrorists know it is time to strike. This is a bogus peace and bush cannot be reelected. Maybe the next president will be rational and maybe he will love the terrorists even more than Bush.
23. As long Jews hate the Torah the Gentiles hate Jews
Nethanel ,   Jerusalem   (10.21.05)
Just replace the word "Ortho-fascists" (or "settler" or "Charedi") with the word "Jew", you receive an article perfectly fitting in an Arab or Neo-Nazi newspaper. Just remember what the Israeli media and even the Shabak said baout the expected settler's resistence against the expulsion from Gush Katif (shootings, blowing up mosques etc), it turns out, as usual, that all their estimations were wrong. Baseless secular hatred.
24. National Union/NRP Will Prevail
Madzionist   (10.21.05)
The Shinui dhimmis better be nervous. The fact is Israel will only become more and more observant with time, and with the failings of secularists to manage the moslem menace, more and more in the center will move further to the right. Religious Jews are multiplying and making aliyah at far greater rates than the leftists. The time will come when the religious nationalists will overwhelm the shrinking self-loathing left. The utter destruction of the kibbutznik movement should serve notice: the self-loathing dhimmis on the left, Sharon and Likud included, will find their day of rule is numbered in the Land.
25. Israeli Public Too Smart for This
GefilteFish ,   Jerusalem   (10.21.05)
If this so-called "fascism" indeed runs so rampant amongst the religious Zionist community, how does Mr. Bisson account for the disengagement having (thankfully) passed without a shot being fired by anti-disengagement activists (or evacuees, for that matter) against Israel's security forces? Bisson's is another cynical attempt by a weak-minded but strongly-opinioned politician to build a name for himself by exploiting divisions in society. We've seen this before. The centrist majority of the Israeli public is too intelligent to buy into this prattle.
26. ... Israeli public is too intelligent...!!!
Bushah ,   Israel   (10.21.05)
25. "The centrist majority of the Israeli public is too intelligent to buy into this prattle." BUT, it is so busy dealing with personal issues, making a living and tryint to ignore the CORRUPTION at all levels, that this centrist public will never organize to help prevent the religious from stealing power. 27. Answer to Nethanel # 23
hiram ,   tel aviv   (10.21.05)
When religious zealots believe that they own public telephones in Jerusalem I feel like I am allowed to say that this becomes dicatoriship from a religious minority... Israel is a THeo-Democracy and will remain se untill majors changes are conducted...and I have no secular hatred for Orthodox Jews....But their faith must remain THEIR FAITH ...
28. Ortho-Fascism, defined by MK R.Brison
Milton A. Franks ,   Petach Tikva, Israel   (10.21.05)
We note that the Arab "shabab", the dedicated and dynamic youth, received their direction from hate propaganda. But our kippa clad lads have the opposite orientation and accomplish their goal with equal enthusiasm and perseverence. They move toward a theocracy peacefully and democratically. Have you seen them on poster hanging missions and distribution of flyers at major intersections? Their politeness and enjoyment is admirable. You have to give them credit.
29. Tragic hate...
Neti ,   US, for now.   (10.23.05)
We are one people, yet we avoid the simple facts; tragic. I am not a Chassid, but I have been around them a good deal of late. Much to my surprise, they have proven to be some of the most open-minded and welcoming Jews I have ever run across. I know that there are other groups that are not so wonderful. However, in several different states, my friends and I have found Chassidic groups willing to take us as we are and not once offer judgement. On the other hand, every reform group I have ever been around has had their ideas about what I should be or should do differently. The secular (not affiliated) have also had their ideas. Only one Orthodox Jew has ever told me what I should do and she asked if she could give an opinion, based on knowing me and my career goals. My point is that much of this is plain fear. It is based on not truly knowing and being afraid of someone who lives a lifestyle extremely different than yourselves. It is the idea that they are somehow less because they do not choose to live the way most of us live. Often, that is not the case. There are some hypocrites and fools, but many of them have a great deal to offer and contribute more to society than I ever could dream to. To be honest, I would very much like to see more religious Jews in leadership, as those I have met have earned my respect, where as the secular have failed to keep their empty promises.
