91. Two Sides to the Story
Adam ,   Los Angeles USA   (11.03.05)
This might be taken a little out of context here. First of all, it is true that the more you give the better you feel...the better you feel the healthier you are likely to be. I know this from personal experience. The center was merely sugguesting a method to help this person battle cancer. The donations need not be made to the center, but to any charitible organization. Cancer is serious and there are other ways to battle it beyond conventional medicine. The wonam and her husband at any time could have refused the sugguestion and sought out conventional medicine. From my experience, the Kabbalah Centers operate on an "attraction rather than promotion" policy. The whole incident is unfortunate for everyone involved.
92. Kaballah Centers
Alex ,   Los Angeles, CA   (11.03.05)
When The Research Center of Kabbalah came to Los Angeles I took some of the classes available. I had read many books by the occultists (the know-nothings) and traditional Kabbalists (e.g. Rabbi Kaplan & Rabbi Scholem). The information in I found they taught was interesting but very basic. When Rabbi Berg (nee Gruberger) came to conduct a class I found him to be arrogant and rather self-serving. Talking to many of those in the area who were studying Kabbalah they called Rabbi Berg "the Kabbalistic con man." As the old axiom goes, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." It doesn't say an organization will appear. It says a teacher. A teacher is personal. An organization is based on cash flow.

Although I never found Rav Berg arrogant when I studied with the KC; i do agree that the information was very basic when it comes to the subject of Kabbalah. That is why I left and now study with another teacher. I feel that organizations like people "reap what they sow", it was inevitable that someone would take them to court on their tactics concerning money. although they don't MAKE you donate, they do pressure you and when someone is looking for any life line, it doesn't take much to pressure them. Shame on them for their continued focus on money as a way to become spiritual, or get healing. Money is a physical manifestation and their is nothing spiritual in the tactics involved.
94. Personal Experience with the Center
Dottie ,   Woodland Hills, CA   (11.04.05)
For 14 months I studied daily at the Kabbalah Center in LA. #91 says that there are two sides to every story and while that is true to some degree... When the LA Center found out I was giving my money to another charitable organization I was repremanded by them. They said that the right thing to do was to give the money to where I am getting the light from. You have no idea what extent the Center will go to to harrass people for money. I was receiving up to 5 calls a day asking me if I wanted the light then to give. Telling me if I didn't give bad things would happen to me. When you try to exercise your free will (which Kabbalah says makes you different from a tree) and it is not in accordance with what the Center wants they tell you that you are being possessed by Satan. The Center in LA coined the phrase "Kabbalah Debt". People have called in tears, they love studing Kabbalah, are responsible people and generous, and yet the Kabbalah Center keeps harrasing them for their last penny. It's very very sad and tragic that Rav Berg (an Insurance Salesman till he was 45 years old) took a simple concept available to anyone who looks and put such a high price tag on it. The definition of a Cult is an organization who doesn't care about the well being of their members. The Kabbalah Center in LA is definitely a Cult by that definition. Kabbalah teaches cause and affect, I hate to think of the kind of life Rav Berg will have in his next one.
95. To Naomi #89
Yoav Ben Zakai ,   Dimona, Israel   (11.05.05)
umm......naomi...what did i say wrong? I simply stated historical facts that Jews have been living in the Middl-east since the destuction of our Temple in Jerusalem, long before the Muslim Arab armies invaded and that we were already established communities along other Middle-eastern peoples with our culture, music, and traditions. And with regards to anti-semitism, anti-semites will ALWAYS look for something, whether its there or not to use it as reason enough to hate Jews and spread lies about Jews and delegitimize their existence and the fact that we are an integral part of the Middle-Eastern landscape....So it doesn't matter whether i state facts or "hubris", anti-semities will find a way.. The Kabbalah Center is just about money and manipulation. It is good that finally this is the begining of the end. Congratulations to the Israeli Police
98. Kabballah
Shadow ,   Placentia, Ca.   (11.12.05)
The opinion that Kabballah is only for Jews, or only for people that read, speak or understand Hebrew or Aramaic is an ignorant one. Did GOD create the sun the moon and stars for Jews only? Like the sun the moon and stars, Kabballah is for all of humanity that is able to perceive it. It is not by any means a man made religion or belief system. One of the mysteries of Kabballah is that it is impossible, as it was for the greatest of sages, for us to fully understand or for that matter to try and explain what Kabballah is, or what its means to us. In fact, it is a type of blueprint or schematic made by GOD for the creation of the spiritual and material (physical) universes. The universal laws that govern them, the human and spiritual applications of them and the impact they have on each other. It teaches us that all of us are connected. We are all connected to everything. "As above so below" It exposes illusion of duality and the evil of egoism and self centeredness. It is also a type of technology that can be used to strip away our delusions of self, pride and individualistic behavior. Since it predates any and all of the worlds religions how can it be said that it is exclusive to Judaism? Like our salvation, Kabballah was to be brought into the world by the Jews. GOD chose them for the mission of freeing humanity from the bondage of sin and death forever. They were to be the vector of the "Good News" for the rest of the world. Because GOD chose to give us free will we have His permission to make choices weather they are for good or evil, the choice is ours to make. A bad choice was made when Jesus Christ was rejected as the Savior of the world and subsequently had to be crucified to complete His mission of salvation. Had he been accepted and embraced the course of history would have been completely different. We still have time. Peace.
99. Re: Post 63
Dennis ,   UK   (11.22.05)
Goyim does NOT mean 'cattle' (to be milked and slaughtered for the benefit of Jews). Sorry mate. What it DOES mean is 'NATION', and in the bible the Jewish nation are also called a 'GOY' (singular of GOYIM). I'm sure someone misinformed you on that word, Merv (from canada). Otherwise, you are correct that all people, including some Jews, need to learn how to take critisicm properly. And the more humanity develops the ability to do so the closer we will be to bringing peace to our world. Peace
100. Kabbalah
Marisa ,   San Diego, CA   (07.10.06)
I was unfortunate enough to sit next to a Kabbalist "healer' for 12 hours on a non-stop flight from London to LA. The cabin recycled air makes me cough...which prompted her to give me a little book to heal me. Not wanting to be rude, and frankly, bored, I opened the little red book (very similar to the little New Testaments christians like to hand out) and was surprised to find ONE PAGE written in English...there was one page in each of several languages, but the entire rest of the book was in Hebrew! Basically, the jist of the English text was - just by holding onto this book, you will be healed by it's magical powers. What a crock! I thanked her and gave her the book back. She didn't say a word for the rest of the journey, in fact, didn't say goodbye when we deplaned. This, as with all religions, involves people blindly believing a dogma in the hope there is life after the one we have here now. Wake up people. Live this life to its fullest, as surely, its the only one we get. There are a thousand versions of the afterlife, all lies. Belief in any of this stuff is for the weak-minded.
101. Kabbalah Scam
Anticultist ,   CA   (07.19.06)
I used to attend the Kabbalah Centre, and after volunteering there for almost 2 years I cut my ties with that place for the following reasons: 1. They said I could not advance spiritually until I started giving them money (tithing). Now anyone with half a brain should realize that any spiritual organization that requires its members to give money in order to move up the spiritual ladder is either a cult or a scam... or both. Just think about it... if what they say is true, then that means only rich people can become spiritual! Ridiculous!! 2. After volunteering for almost 2 years the staff members I worked with started treating me like I was their servant, telling me that all the stuff they were asking me to do (cleaning the facilities, driving staff members to and from the airport, etc... and all for free) would "increase my spiritual bank account" and help me to get the job I desperately needed at the time. Well, it turns out that I didn't get a job until well after I cut my ties with those people. 3. When it became clear to the people there that I was really into coming to the Kabbalah Centre, one of the event organizers told me that I should continue to sign up for their (pretty pricey) classes in addition to volunteering or it would be considered that I did not want to continue my lessons and so would be asked to leave. Reverse psychology - a very spiritual thing indeed. 4. Now you should really pay attention to this: The central concept of the Kabbalah Centre is what they call "proactivity" and the central book of the Kabbalah Centre is the Zohar. Everybody who attends the Kabbalah Centre knows this. Now no matter who I asked, nobody in the Kabbalah Centre could tell me where proactivity is specifically mentioned in the Zohar. I even emailed Yehuda Berg (Philip Berg's son) and asked him to cite an example from the Zohar that illustrated each step of the "proactive formula." It was a very legitimate question but I got no response, and when I persisted in my emails they were forwarded to someone who said they could not help me. Now you have to ask yourself why nobody in the Kabbalah Centre, even Yehuda Berg, can connect their main idea to their main text, and why they stonewall people who ask them. Anybody currently attending the Kabbalah Centre should ask this question, which I will repeat for their benefit: "Cite an example from the Zohar that illustrates each step of the proactive formula." The following is a quote from Jeanne Mills, a defector from Jim Jones' Peoples temple. She was murdered a year subsequent to the Nov. 18, 1978 Jonestown suicides/murders of 911 children, woman and men. She wrote this shortly before being murdered. Listen to what she is telling the world: "When you meet the friendliest people you have ever known, who introduce you to the most loving group of people you have ever encountered, and you find the leader to be the most inspired, caring, compassionate and understanding person you have ever met, and then you learn the cause of the group is something you never dared hope could be accomplished, and all of this sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true! Don't give up your education, your hopes and ambitions to follow a rainbow."
102. Kabbalah Center Objectives
Pedro Celis ,   Caracas, Venezuela   (07.22.08)
A lot of judgement in all comments that I have read. Giving is an important part of our spirituality. However, thinking that it cures cancer is preposterous. I am quite certain that the Rabii did not say so. It is obvious that the spouse wants his money back... pure receiveing for the self alone... Kabbalah Centers are the best thing that humanity can get. They help us understand the link between this world and the spiritual world. An understanding hidden for so long... Jesus Christ was one of the first to actually show the world the Kabbalah way: Love thy neighbour as you love yourself and love god above all... All Jesus teachings (not catholic church) are originated from the Kabbalah. All we have to do is study...
103. My Kabbalah Experience
Pedro ,   Caracas, Venezuela   (07.22.08)
I have been studying Kabbalah from my Caracas Center for two years, on and off. I have found this experience very enriching and satisfactory. I have learnt a few things about myself and about spirituality. The idea of the kabbalah Center asking money for themselves is preposterous. Never have I been approach to give them money. I do buy books and courses, from with i benefit and knowingly pay for them. I can safely say that I have receive more than what i have give them. I do give to other charitable organizations of my choosing and I have made the center give others through me. As any church, they do need money, but they make the money with the courses and books and material. They do have charitable and very specific kabbalistic programs of their own that need funding from others. You may donate to them or not donate its up to you. Never have i been made something i did not want to. Most comments read here are made from hatred or for a personal agenda... Too sad...
