Salut, this is a piece of ART, congrats!; I used to think of you something else, but I bow now for your Humaniti, your story telling, funny, very funny and painful, very very smart !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. thanks a lot\\
2. So not funny
Ariana   (11.05.05)
You are not muslim you where born in America, you do not look arab so I am wondering why you write these things? Do you think your subtle slams "They said they never forced me to leave - I did so on my own and therefore have no Right of Return. " are pathetic. Why do you increasingly try to provoke the Israeli (Jewish ) population. You say you want peace but it obvious by your columns that you are pro pali. So instead of saying you are a MODERATE tell the truth, you are anti Israel anti Jew. It is obvious by your writings. You are fooling no one .
3. middle eastern airlines
someone ,   somewhere   (11.05.05)
Egypt Air: Prices are cheap, but if you are Christian, you are locked in the lavatory for the duration of the flight while a group of militants yells threats through the door because a Christian whom you have never met made a movie a year ago that was critical of Islam. If you are an Egyptian, your meal is given to foreign tourists. If you complain, you are not allowed to leave the plane. Lebanon Airlines: The pilot is legally required to be a Christian and the co-pilot has to be a Muslim, but until a few months ago they weren't allowed to fly the plane anyway; they were locked in the lavatory while Syrian intelligence officials flew the plane. Also, the passengers in rows 20-29 are armed to the teeth and refuse to disarm. Everyone eyes them nervously. Saudi Arabian Airlines: You have to check your wives with your baggage. Be careful: bags and wives are sometimes stolen. Also, there is a limit of at most two wives and two suitcases, unless you are a member of the royal family. If you are a prince, you are allowed to check ten wives and four suitcases. Sudan Airways: Periodically the Janjaweed go through and massacre the non-Muslim passengers in order to make room for more Sudanese Muslims. Iranian National Airlines: The pilot usually doesn't fly the plane himself, but rather relies on the copilot. However, the copilot is crazy and spends half of his time shouting threats at El Al planes and trying to make female passengers wear burkas. Good thing you flew El Al, eh?
4. What's original?
yoel   (11.05.05)
We could read more or less the same history, concerning a boat about to sink... By the way, I didn't feel it was funny, because it deals with serious problems that haven't found any solution.
5. Thanks Ray for the laughs
Louis   (11.05.05)
Thanks for the comic relief. It's enjoyable. I prefer it to the serious stuff. LR
6. Real Funny, tell it to the guy in Holland
Z Lando ,   Tekoa, Israel   (11.05.05)
Ray - Arabs dont have to dress up in black to make people afraid.... they just have to show up. Are we paranoid? No. Does that make you feel good that we are afraid? I wouldn't, if I were you. Get a life already!
7. Speaking of ex-lax Ray
Lois D. ,   Baltimore, Md./USA   (11.05.05)
I think you could use some because you're really full of it (as always). :)
8. Agree with No. 2...
Lois D. ,   Baltimore, Md./USA   (11.05.05)
But for different reasons. Ray makes fun of his people and their suffering, and for some reason that seems to bother you! Maybe because deep down inside you know what was done to the Palestinians, and exactly what's being done to them now. Shame on Ray, and shame on you also Ariana...You are both two peas in a pod.
9. Not so funnny yes No. 2, but you're not so smart
Lois D. ,   Baltimore, Md./USA   (11.06.05)
What's the difference of whether Ray looks like an Arab, whatever an Arab is supposed to look like, whether he is Muslim, or where he was born. Since when are all Arabs Muslim anyway? What planet do you come from?
10. Am I supposed to feel sorry for you, Ray?
AK   (11.06.05)
Arabs are responsible for a vast majority of terrorist acts around the world. There is no atrocity too vile for your brethren whether it is blowing up an airplane, restaurant and slaughter a pregnant woman and her little girls or slitting the throats of flight attendants. You're an Arab and you look exactly like the people who commit those atrocities, so what do you expect? If I, a green eyed blond can accept going through security checks at the airport, so can you. You don't like it, don’t fly, but don’t expect sympathy. We must live daily with the threat of terrorism by your Arab brethren so now you must learn to live with our suspicions. There is nothing more insulting than your wining -- we’re the victims forced to change out lives, yet instead of blaming those who choose to commit those atrocities, you blame us for being wary and not unreasonable suspicious. Whose side are you really on?
11. are you on my flight
George ,   San Francisco   (11.05.05)
Ray, you are great, I wish the Polititians on both sides can see the Light , we would all be in a better situation than we are now, The whole conflict could be solved if we look at the light & the Humor side of it, it could be worked out by respecting each other as a HUMAN BEINGS!!!. And for all of you who are Knocking him down, GET A LIFE, open your Eyes & smell the Roses, they are plintifull in the Holly Land. Ray God Bless you & keep up the Good Work
12. Now we know whay there are no tour dates on Ray's Site!
Robert Goldman ,   cooper city Florida   (11.05.05)
Ray has proven everything I've said up till now! He is an unfunny ass clown with little or no talent! Thanks for playing fool ! now get over yoursaelf and get a Job at BK!
13. Very funny-
(11.06.05)
Best from you yet- I see this for stand up/ Oh, if only jews could laugh at themselves- things would be so much better.
14. Lame
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.06.05)
Sorry, dude, but this comedy act bombed.
15. Ray Thank You
Abu Zaid ,   Jerusalem, Paletine   (11.05.05)
Thanks for the good job you do. Very few people try to communicate the Palestinian Dilema in a different style and an interesting way to the other side.the very sad thing is, Even your human and humor style is not accepted. It is rejected because you are smart enough to play the game right. They want all of us to only be TERRORISTS so they can decieve the world and look victims. (palestinians are NOT Humans) . Anyway, Thanks Ray for surprising them .
16. Is this comedy? What a joke!
Daniel ,   Sweden   (11.05.05)
17. No. 15
Lois D. ,   Baltimore, Md/USA   (11.06.05)
There are plenty of sources communicating the Palestinian "dilemna" or better word the Palestinian "tragedy" out there that do not make Palestinians look like terrorists, but those sources do not make a comedy out of Palestinian suffering either. The only positive thing Ray did in this column was to document the Palestinian refugees. But even that source was a bad one because it mentioned that the Israeli government opposes their "immigration" to Israel in order to maintain the Jewish character of the state. Palestinian refugees are not "immigrants". They were thrown out of their lands and have the right of return, The only immigrants are the majority of Jews who were not born there and came from many other different countries, and are still coming.
18. #15 You're wrong.
AK   (11.06.05)
We'd actually prefer that none of you are terrorists. Get it through you head -- you kill, you maim, you hijack, or , in the alternative , you support and defend killers, bombers and hijackers -- then you want our understanding and sympathy -- sorry, I'm all out.
19. You're the victims No. 10???
Lois D. ,   Baltimore, Md./USA   (11.06.05)
I just wonder how you came to that conclusion after Palestinians have already been punished for crimes they never committed, and you wish to call yourself victims while the real victims are suffering under your damn atrocities. What's really disgusting is your indifference to it and your outright racism, but that's the way the Israeli state is run anyway. Thanks anyway to the decent Israelis who don't have your mentality and who do speak out.
20. Ray must specialize in visual comedy
Ilan ,   Ariel   (11.06.05)
Because no one could be entertained by the content of his material. Some people are funny looking enough to be born comedians.
21. Keep us laughing Mr. Hanania
Ibtisam Marzouka ,   New York/Bethlehem   (11.06.05)
Hi Mr. Hanania ... you were going to do a show at the Bethlehem Media Center last year. What happened? I know some of the "extremists" were upset you were coming and complained. A group of comics including some Arabs and Jews from London and the States did perform here, but their comedy was focused more on conflict than on resolution. I went to the show in Ramallah (not easy to travel to, through two check points). It seemed the audience was more interested in bashing Israel and bashing Arafat than with seeking peace. There are many Palestinians, Mr. Hanania, who seek a peace with Israel. We want the conflict to end. But sometimes we see the Jews don't want the conflict to end and they find their only real form of entertainment and humor from the tragedy. Maybe if they didn't have this conflict, they know the rest of the world would be picking on them. Anti-Semitism is a European tradition. Here in Palestine, its a political instrument stemming from anger, but not a hatred for Jews. Keep up what you are doing. I laughed very hard at your line "Are you on my flight?" That by itself was enough to give me some energy to make it through another month in this Hell Hole called Israel-Palestine. I knever thought I would be reading a column associated with Yedioth Ahronoth. They are so rightwing and angry. They even seem to dis Rabin. But maybe your laughter will make the Wicked Witches shrivel up in their own anger. Thank you. I know my family back home also reads your columns online, when they are able to connect online. I'm lucky I can travel. Ibtisam Marzouka New York (Bethlehem)
22. Funny
Tsedek ,   Israel   (11.06.05)
Ray, just to let you know I do think it's funny - the way you bring the results of generalization collecting its individual victims. This goes well together with what Ibtisam Marzouka writes: "There are many Palestinians, Mr. Hanania, who seek a peace with Israel. We want the conflict to end. But sometimes we see the Jews don't want the conflict to end ..." I'm convinced there are many Israeli's who seek peace with the Palestinians as well (as a matter of fact : I KNOW it!), but that's not my point. .. "we see the jews"... Mr. Marzouka writes and by that he is in a way victimizing every jew as well with his generalization. Maybe "many jews", Mr. Marzouka? I think it's foremost necessary to de-group and start talking as one human being to the other, before your comedy pictured situation can change, Ray. At this time we're handing "leaders" too much power by letting them group us.
23. 19 Yes, I like most of new Yorkers am a victim
AK   (11.07.05)
You may have forgotten 3000 dead, people jumping off the WTC, the photos of family members plastered on city wall, lost for ever, i haven’t. Actually, you should at least remember the closed tunnel in Baltimore, your alleged hometown and terror alert in New York, my town, due to a terror alert just few short weeks back. The reason for all that were not Jews nor Hindus or Mormon, but the practitioners of the ROP. So, cut the crap. We all have to get through the airport security, and I have to take off my shoes just like that swarthy looking Middle Eastern individual, only I don't complain. Now, you can whine with your " liberal" buddies feeling for the "Palestinian" and other assorted "victims," just keep in mind that a Conservative is a "liberal" who was mugged. We were mugged in New York twice, don’t be so sure it will not happen in Baltimore, just like it happened in Madrid and London.
24. Not sure what the point was...
josef cohen ,   bkk thailand   (11.07.05)
I didn't really see the point of the piece, other than to maybe complain about profiling? I would just add a few things: There are good reasons to be suspicious of Muslims these days for all the obvious and known reasons. Secondly I have found that 'Muslim" airlines are pretty much second to El Al in security checks. Because I have a middle eastern appearance I am frequently searched numerous times before boarding. I just flew Kuwait Airways and was body searched no less than 5 times. And no they don't always get that I'm not Muslim, like when I flew out of Bangladesh on their national carrier the security person commented I wasn't a 'good Muslim' when he saw vegetarian meal stamped on my boarding card. They also confiscated my fingernail clipper. So it isn't a western conspiracy or practice, just a pragmatic method even those countries who are the most profiled employ just as fiercely. Respectfully, Yosi
25. Funny ...
Abdullah   (11.07.05)
I can understand all the Jews who hate your column. By using humor, you are punching them in their phony morality and abandoned principles. They don't mind you mocking Palestinians, but Allah forbid that you might poke some fun at their unethical behavior, bad habits and worse. I support Palestinians returning to Palestine, and creating one state. And I want to thank the Israelis for helping us keep that option alive. I was so afraid you were going to make a deal with Arafat. Phew! Shukran jadeeran! Abdullah Jerusalem
26. #25 One nation with Israelis?
AK   (11.08.05)
We see in France how this "one nation" with Muslims works out when they number 10%; in Israel, with that much higher percentage of muslims there wouldn't be anything left to burn after just one night.
27. #3 ... Leave humor to Hannaniya
(11.08.05)
28. #25
Tsedek ,   Israel   (11.09.05)
I laugh at Ray's humor and I'm Israeli. See, already 1 exception to your generalization. So, you want 1 state = ALL.... I want good for BOTH = 2 states, I just ain't that selfish as you are.
29. Not funy and nobody even cares
Yonatan ,   Israel   (11.09.05)
Ray's article is not funny at all, and not because of the bad taste he has in choosing to joke on a serious subject. The article is simply plain and doll, that's all. What Ray's article did do, in fact, was spute the same old arab lies about the Israeli-arab conflict. But we can care less, because we have our own version of the story, the true story. And the truth will always prevail.
30. #29
Tsedek ,   Israel   (11.09.05)
So what? Humor doesn't always have to be based on the truth. What's that about Iraqi jewish old men sitting in striped pyama's on their balconies sipping tea? That's a stereotype I've never seen, used in stand-up comedy and still funny.
