You gonna convert us? You know how insulting that is after all the centuries of persecution, inquisition and christian rape of our culture? The next time i see the missionaries waving their flags on Tel Aviv beach i swear im going to shove them up their tachats and turn them into christian popsicles!
32. 31 yeah i'll pay you to convert
mike ,   usa   (11.08.05)
i'm being sarcastic but you probably believe it. don't blame us fundamental christians for what those catholics do. no, you'll do it anyway because you want to put everyone down however you can.

I don't put anyone down. I just don' like reading this Christian crap about converting my people. One G-d, One love. One People.
35. gil - at least i don't refer to your religion as 'crap'
mike ,   usa   (11.08.05)
it's ok to bash christianity here, no matter what the reason. converting is what christianity is all about - converting from sin into a relationship with god. i was born into a christian family but when i understood the gospel myself I CONVERTED. if someone hates israel you people bash them. if someone loves israel you bash them. now you want to persecute christians if you see them. sounds hypocritical to me, but hey, jews have been persecuted in the past so you have the right to get us back.
36. Mike and Gil
Jane ,   New York   (11.08.05)
I understand where each of you is coming from. Please don't fight about this stuff. Mike apparently understands the history behind Gil's anger (as do I), but Gil should understand that G-d knows we are not going to be converted, no matter who tries. Now, let's stop and worry only about Islamofacism.
37. jane
mike ,   usa   (11.08.05)
you may not convert but that doesn't mean i should stop practicing my faith by sharing it with other jews. i know plenty who have converted and many of them share their faith with other jews, both here and in israel. if a jew or gentile isn't interested, so be it. it is not a crime like some people make it out to be to be a christian. only for those who are intolerant and hateful toward christians, but they are fre to do that. i just think it's pitiful that people in these talkbacks say things to and about christians that jews are horrified if anyone says about them.
38. ***NOTE TO YNET**** RE:: MIKE,USA
DACON9   (11.08.05)
MIKE IT IS A SPIRITUAL CRIME THAT YOU CON /PERSUADE JEWS TO CONVERT TO YOUR FALSE IDOL WORSHIP. LEARN THE PROPHESIES ABOUT WHAT YOU PEOPLE DO AND YOUR ULITIMATE OUTCOME. LEARN THEM FROM A ORTHODOX JEW NOT FROM YOUR XTIAN TRANSLATION,,,, AND YOU WILL SHAKE ..... AND BEG FORGIVENESS FROM EVERY JEW YOU HAVE CONNED. ***NOTE TO YNET**** THIS IS WHY YOU MUST PUBLISH MY COMMENTS THAT YOU SEEM TO HAVE REJECTED FROM THE FRANCE INTIFADA
39. Mike
Jane ,   New York   (11.08.05)
Mike, apparently you understand less than I gave you credit for. It is disrespectful to push your faith on those who have not inquired about it . That is forbidden in Judaism and I would think that Jesus, having been both born and died a Jew, would not have been pleased. That having been said, you are entitled to your opinion.
40. dacon9
mike ,   usa   (11.08.05)
it is a spiritual crime for me to NOT share my faith with jews. by the way, i read the tanakh in hebrew, do you? i can understand what it says fine. maybe you should try reading it without the rabbinical interpretations whispering in your ear. i want to understand what god has revealed in scripture, not what man has decided it means. if i want to know about judaism, i'll ask the rabbi. if i want to know what the bible says, i'll read the hebrew tanakh. you read it and tremble!
41. No Mike your the one who insults first
Gil ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.05)
And I know you think its some kind of game to poke fun at me and Im sorry i can't be as sarcastic as you. But i am sick of hearing about Christians trying to convert Jews. its really sick and in fact many Christian leaders are starting to wake up to that fact, its down right immoral and i think deep down you know that. Yes i have a right to be angry. Christianity has a lot to answer for with its destructive missionaries cruising through parts of the world screwing around with local cultures and basically ruining them. Christianity has a long and brutal legacy of persecuting Jews and if you think that you can casually hang around a Jewish web site poking fun at Jews and making light of this tragic history without offending people then you are simply crass and ignorant. Up to you if you dont want to admit that or come up with yet more sarcastic, flippant comments. But basically most people on this message board both jews and Christians know im right.
42. gil, tell me how to convert someone - i've always wondered
mike ,   usa   (11.09.05)
catholics forced conversion, how they did i'm not sure, but that's nowhere in the new testament. i share my faith but i'm not sure what you mean by converting someone. speaking the truth and someone acknowledging the truth is something between them and their maker, nothing i can control. if christian leaders are waking up to the 'fact' that sharing the gospel with jews is wrong, they deny their own faith. to accuse me, or any christian, of doing the basic and natural function of our faith, sharing the truth, is rather intolerant. certain sects of christianity have persecuted jews. many have apologized but you'll never forgive. the truth and essence of christianity can be found in the words of the new testament. persecution or forced conversion, or anything similar, is not there. i'd apologize for what christianity has done but i question if the persecuters were even true christians. true christianity has never done anything other than speak the truth, which you obviously disagree with, and you can go on wanting to believe that someone that, say, kills a jew in the nane of christianity is really a christian and is typical of all christians. call me sarcastic but i think that it is the height of ignorance and stereotypical to take what a certain sect has done and apply it to every christian. if you even knew anything about christianity you'd know that these things are foreign and incompatible with what the new testament says. deep down i think you are wrong and i don't think you are fair minded enough to even want to acknowledge the differences without prejudice. you can hate me and everything that is important to me but i hold no malice toward you or screaming dacon9. go on slandering and bashing christians - take some lessons from how the muslims are treating you if it gives you joy. i wouldn't ever hurt anyone even though you'd kick my tachat if i was waving flags on the tel aviv beach.
43. Typical long winded drivel
Gil ,   Tel Aviv   (11.09.05)
from a Christian that is convinced that he's right and that Christians have never persecuted Jews apparently if they did then they weren't Christian. Well how convenient that is! Very useful to divorce "your version" of Christianity from the one that we've had to suffer from throughout the ages and im not interested in getting into some sort of discussion with you over it because im interested not in the slightest. Strangely i dont come to Ynet to hear about Christianity (you will excuse this minor sarcasm). I note however that you are only to happy to tell me how i feel about Chrstians ie: that i hate them. Wrong again! They ahve every right to believe whatever they want but i object to having them preach to me. I've said im not interested in hearing about your faith OK leave it at that. And if i ask that you dont knock on my door or preach to my kids and i find that you do this then yeah, you're going to get my big Jewish boot up your tachat. Write more if you wish, i wont respond. I am more concerned with Jewish events and culture which I ask you for the last time to respect.
44. nice debate gil
mike ,   usa   (11.09.05)
how can one be free to believe what they want and yet deny them the freedom to practice it without threat of violence? make false accusations and say you're not interested in knowing anything else - kind of like the muslims that get on these talkbacks and talk about baruch goldstein being representative of all jews. how enlightened you are! keep your head buried in the sand - you'll go far in this world.
45. Mike
Jane ,   New York   (11.09.05)
Your truth is not the truth to me. Therefore, it should be kept in your heart, in your church, amongst like minded people. I promise not to tell you that your truth is wrong, because it belongs to you and you have a right to it. Just stay out of that which G-d gave to us and don't shove your triumphalism down our throats.
46. Mike #37
Jane ,   New York   (11.09.05)
You can't say about Jews what can be said about Christians. We never went on crusades, mounted an inquisition, perpetrated pogroms, set the stage for the Holocaust, or other similarly obscenities. All we ever wanted was to be left to fulfill the life that G-d instructed us to live. Christians have historically defamed the heritage of the one who they call the son of G-d. Christ never ceased being a Jew. You co-opted his interpretation of Judaism, called it something else, used what of Judaism you chose and discarded and cursed the rest. And then you have the unmitigated gall to call it the truth when, in fact, you distorted the truth that the one and only Father, blessed be His Name, gave to the world.

There was no such thing as a Muslim til thousands of years after Abraham. What are you talking about? Are you also a devotee of Arafat's lie that Christ was a Palestinian? There were no Muslims in Christ's time either. And there was no Palestine. It was a Roman name change in an attempt to psychologically obliterate the Jews.

hell no! we all know that christ was from germany and then he immigrated to the United States of Asswipes! and muslim means "one who surrenders to the one & only god [allah]" hope this will help you sleep better at night (or at daytime if you're a belly dancer and you have night shifts)

how can "my truth" be for me (post 45) yet say (post 46) i have the "unmitigated gall to call it the truth"? i thought you said in post 45 "I promise not to tell you that your truth is wrong". who said christians "never went on crusades, mounted an inquisition, perpetrated pogroms, set the stage for the Holocaust" (post 46)? not me, but it is not true christianity according to the very words that give any authority to our faith. the crusades - why did they go to take the holy land? it was heretical theology. ask yourself why NO christian group makes any claim to the holy land today. could it be because this theology is obscure and trivial? what the crusaders did was not trivial but it is considered to be theoligically incompatible with christianity, which is why you see nothing of the sort today. inquisition - catholic heresy once again, unfounded and impossible to sustain biblically, which is part of the reason there was the 'reformation' rejecting the false teachings of the catholic church. holocaust - it was the enlightenment's rejection of traditional christianity and embracing secular humanism which laid the groundwork for both world wars and fascism of the 20th century. why did christians risk their lives to save jews in ww2? their belief demanded it. "jesus' interpretation of judaism? what about when jesus says "no one comes to the father but by me"? i think you don't really know what he did and said. by the way, about judaism - how can you say you keep torah? where are the sacrifices you are commanded to make? no, how is atonement for sin made? prayers? deeds? repentance? rabbis say that but that's is nowhere found in the reavealed word of god. even they'll admit that. in other words it is a man-made idea. ok, i'm a "fundamentalist" and believe the bible means what it says. i guess hashem is more progressive these days and didn't mean everything that he commanded back then. heck, maybe it's all just consensus opinion, but if i recall correctly, that never did much for the jewish people even in pre-christian times. i believe what the bible says, and not some fancy interpretation or reconstruction of what god's revelation plainly says. but that's me, the 'fundy'.

Jane ,   New York   (11.09.05)
All very pithy and prepared. Out of all the Christians in the world during the Holocaust, maybe .0001% helped Jews. The rest enabled, supported, facilitated or ignored our murderers. As to my personal level of observance, that should be of no concern to you, as you believe in replacement theology. As Rav Hillel said when a would be believer asked him to explain Judaism while the man stood on one foot, "Do not do unto others what is hateful unto you. All the rest is commentary. Now go study." What Jesus said is of no concern to me since, unlike him, I am not a reform Jew.
52. jane, earth to jane...
mike ,   usa   (11.09.05)
nothing prepared, don't believe in 'replacement theology', didn't speculate on your level of observance, only quoted jesus to answer your uninformed assertation, i'm talking about the tanakh and not rabbinic judaism. do you even read?
53. Mike
Mike ,   New York   (11.09.05)
I read. But I do not have any interest in what Jesus said. He is not a reputable source for me. You are getting increasingly ascerbic and, like Gil, I opt not to respond to you any further.

57. I strongly condemn Ahmadinejad
Amil Imani ,   Washington DC   (12.14.05)
http://www.thinkandask.com/2005/051105iran.html Chaos, Crisis Create Islamic Republic Illusions Amil Imani SPECIAL TO THINK & ASK WASHINGTON DC On behalf of those silenced in Iran by its government, I strongly condemn the recent blatant comments calling for the destruction of the great nation of Israel by the newly selected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iranian people neither agree with the handpicked President Ahmadinejad’s comments, nor have any such desire to eradicate the people of Israel. As a matter of fact, Iranians are very proud of the action of their champion of human rights, Cyrus the Great. It was this great Persian trailblazer of human rights who freed the Jews from captivity and promoted freedom of culture, religion and beliefs in the vast empire under his rule, something we wish to follow.
58. Islam Betrays Iran & Israel
Amil Imani ,   Washington DC, USA   (12.14.05)
http://www.faithfreedom.org/oped/DavidYeagley51212.htm By David Yeagley 2005/12/12 The best deal Israel ever got from the world was from the Achaemenid emperors of ancient Persia . The most significant threat Israel has ever received is from modern Iran , the distant progeny of Persia . The ancient emperors ordered the prosperity of Israel , by law. The modern rulers of Iran vow to “wipe Israel from the face of the earth.” What has brought about this change of heart?
