The Germans owe us (the jewish people) an eternal debt that can never be repaid. At least its a positive gesture though. One can only hope that they don't sell antisubmarine technology to the Arabs in the interest of being evenhanded.

1.17 billion USD isn't exactly "chump change!" if you know what I mean. ;-) but ok fine...I presume its a good deal.
6. Uboats
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (11.19.05)
How ironic and yes arming them with nonconventional warheads from Dimona sounds like a good idea since the world will not stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power

tfu! tfu! tfu! dagim! dagim! dagim! Chamza! Chamza! it shouldn't turn out like the Dakar! (may the men of Dakar be remembered for a good memory amongst the house of Israel)
9. clarification for #7 Ram

My point is that because the young generation were not even born when the nazis commited their atrocities, how can Bill honestly say that those young ones owe us a debt that cannot be repaid? Its stupid to make broad sweeping statements like that. The older bunch who were actually alive and most of whom turned a blind eye or actively participated, ok, but why the ones who werent even born yet?

while the younger generation of Germans can not be accused of the nazi atrocities, it is NOT stupid to expect greater sensitivity from the younger generation. German sensitivity can be reflected exhibited by insuring the continued existence of some of the Jewish children of that survived the Holecaust. moshe

Barry ,   Tokyo   (11.21.05)
Germans, whether young or old are all affected by the stigma of their Nazi past. Today's Germans, by attempting to right past wrongs have made a positive step in becoming protectors of Jews rather than their killers. Spiritually speaking, this is a step away from their dark past into a brighter future. As for # 3´s comment, although unborn during the Nazi days, responsible younger Germans understand that simply denying any connection to the holocaust commited by their parents is a cop out excuse used by many of their own parents claimed that they were only "following orders". If you doubt me, try justifying the millions of Jihadists worldwide that the barbaric acts of the Crusaders took place a thousand years ago. See if they care...
