It's always the same message of restraint to Israel and the same empty demands to the other side. The reason for this is that the U.S. is afraid Israel might win another decisive war against the enemy and this must no happem in order to placate the dejected losers of the past five wars. Israel must be restrained and never allow to defeat another arab army. This is the overriding agenda of the U.S. towards Israel.

First of all, the UN is composed of national governments. A government, by definition, has a monopoly on the use of force from its territory. If a government makes no attempt to prevent non-governmental terrorist/criminal gangs from attacking neighboring countries across international borders, it may be classified as a "failed state." Perhaps the UN needs a special probationary classification for such crippled regimes. I don't like to say this, because I respect the Lebanese civilians who risked their lives to push Syria out of Lebanon, and I think that if Lebanon were left alone by Syria, then Hizballah would have to quit this nonsense and Lebanon would make peace. Unfortunately, my preferences do not change the fact that Lebanon's government is NOT acting like a government, any more than the PA does. A government maintains a monopoly on the use of force and takes responsibility for conducting both war and peace. Period. Lebanon is once again headed toward civil war. The Lebanese should have learned the lesson last time around; terror gangs have no "off" switch, and once a country becomes a place that allows independent militias and terror gangs to run around freely with military hardware, conduct their own foreign and military policy, and face no sanction or arrest, these armies of gangsters will eventually create a situation of anarchy. What is inexcusable is that the Lebanese KNOW this; the last time they permitted this crap, it destroyed their previously successful country. Lebanese KNOW that terrorism always eventually consumes the country that hosts it, having watched this process in the broader Muslim world over the last few decades. And yet they are making the same mistake again. A country cannot have it both ways. It can either have a stable country with rule of law, OR it can let armed gangs control chunks of its territory and conduct private wars against the neighbors. Sadly, Lebanon is choosing the latter. So whatever Israel does, Lebanon is going to fall apart again.

Why is it that I never hear from people like you about Koreans giving back the billions we have been spending on them + the troops, while they demonstrate against us; or about the Egyptians giving all those billions back, since they were dancing in the streets while our people were taking dives off the 110th floor of the WTC and never support us; I don't hear anything about Turkey being asked to give back all the bucks after they had stubbed us in the back in Iraq. So what exactly are you asking Israel to return? And should Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, etc. also return the weapons they purchased from the USA? How about Germany and the UK? Should they also return the weapons systems they bought from the US? What about Japan, South Korea, India and Pakistan? Then there is the home-grown Israeli military technology, such as the Arrow missile defense system, which the US purchased, and Israeli drones, which other countries are using, and even BULLETS AND HIGH TECH BANDAGES, which the US military is buying from Israel. Should the US stop using it? Should Israel stop upgrading with Israeli technology American weapons for American allies such as Turkey? On the other hand, let's talk about Syria. Syria is a charity state and an economic basket case. Without constant help from the Soviet Union, its Arab buddies and others, it would sink into the desert. Without constant diplomatic protection by countries like Egypt (which convinced Iraq to stop criticising Syria for sending suicide bombers against it -- G-d alone knows why) it would be completely isolated in the world except for Iran. And it uses its arms to support terror gangs and destabilize every neighboring country. Why don't you call for Syria to give back the grants that have been made to it, and return the weapons systems that it is using against Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan?

You really should look at just how much the USA really gives Israel and how mush is actually a loan. Then look at where that money HAS TO BE spent: the US. Yes, that's in the regulations Israel has to follow. By the way, shouldn;t we talk about the money given the terrorists known as Palestinians? According to the UN and EU, they are the largest per capita recipients of aid in the world. Yet they miraculously use the money only to buy weapons of terror and mansions for their leaders in Paris and Algeria. The people on the streets see nothing and are encouraged to kill one another, and anyone else, to make it appear they are wanting. Why not ask their leaders to give back the billions they have siphoned off and return it not to the donor states, but perhaps to the people that need it, rather than their Swiss bank accounts

Examples of this are the military drones employed by the U.S. in Afghanistan and Iraq - saving the lives of U.S. soldiers. As for U.S. "aid" having made Israel powerful, the War Of Independence was fought and won without a single gun or bullet provided from the U.S. In fact, the U.S. maintained an arms embargo against Israel until after the Six Day War (1967.)

I find it sickening that BBC TV news has not mentioned the attack by Hezbollah yesterday and the BBC website headline is "Israeli troops kill at least three Hezbollah fighters during a guerrilla attack close to the Lebanese border." when Hezbollah started the biggest attack for 5 years since Israel left Lebanon. The headline appears to mean Israel started the attack. This is blatent anti-Semitism and the person responsible should be named and sacked. Anyone know who this person is.
