Such a strange place Sweden. Sweden prevents Jewish emigration to Sweden in the 1930s; despite her neutral status, during the war Sweden openly collaborates with the Nazi war machine; after the war, Sweden goes out of her way to protect some of the very worst Nazi war criminals; in recent years, successive Swedish governments have made an almost daily fetish of demonising the Israeli people. On the other hand, when it comes to kosher slaughter Sweden is up in arms and bans the practice. The only conclusion I can reach is that Sweden is a lot more concerned about the welfare of animals than Jews.

I agree with you. Sweden is a strange place. A not to small segment of the population adheres to the "animal welfare religion", a sentimental and stupid cult growing in the place of a dying Christianity. The ruling left is pandering to theese fools in order to stay in power. If Muslims and Jews make common cause with each other in this matter of kashrut and halal slaughter, I think that there is a good chance to force a modification of the legislation. Or better: make a legal case of it. Sue the government and refer to the European Convention for Human Rights and the victory is yours:-)

On religious freedom, womens' rights, gay rights, dissenters' rights and other humanistic values.... no agreement or meeting of minds between Jews and Muslims. However the one thing the two religious communities can get together on is the best (i.e. most painful and profitable) way of killing dumb animals. When it comes to slitting animal's throats and gobbling down their flesh, suddenly we are all brothers.
