1. An obvious compromise...
Logic ,   Israel   (12.07.05)
That's ok, there is a compromise! Let's rename the museum "The Tel Aviv Richy Rich Oligarch Museum of Arts."
2. These Ofer-parasites!
Adama Admati ,   Israel   (12.07.05)
They are so accostumed to dealing with government drones who agree to their demands (perhaps while on the 'take') that they wnat what they want when they want it... like four year olds. See how long it takes to actually COLLECT the pledge.
3. Exasperating news
Sally Ann   (12.08.05)
All museums of any category have wonderfully rich donors, without whom there would not be any serious art world. All museums who praise themselves name their donors and honour them in very many ways. Naming a museum as Tel Aviv's museum, with its history, its significance, after one of his donors, albeit rich and enthusiastic, would equal an appalling rewriting of the history of Israel.
4. Renaming the TA Art Museum
Joanne Yaron ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (12.16.05)
It is a shame that the Ofers do not realize the harm they are doing to the museum and the ridicule they are bringing on themselves by demanding that the entire museum be renamed in their honor. Of course 20 million dollars is a huge amount, but it is not even enough to cover half of the cost of the new wing, which is estimated at 45 million, not to mention any future additions in space or art for the museum. Renaming the museum will result in making it unattractive to other major donors. One hopes that the Ofers will come to their senses and withdraw their demand for renaming the entire museum in their honor, and ask only that the new wing bear their name.
