1. Yes it is war-assasinations are justified-period
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA USA   (12.08.05)
This drivel attempts to combine the ethical issues of defending oneself with the lack of a moral backbone of the individual and the lack of accountability for the latter. That one is so unstable to perform their duties against the enemy in war even against the arabs usurping a nationalist cause, should be punished. I support the life of Israel, not those that come to kill them and supported by the others. The author is a horrible apologist, appeaser of those who will be as pins in your eyes unless they are completely removed, as if it is Jews who should stop be defending themselves and even removed. Put B'tselm and the peace-by piece now in your toilet and flush repeatedly because they are existentially irrelevant. They only support those that come to kill you. . You will die unless you defend yourself. Show some self-respect, confidence and sovereignty. Remove them by any means and stop killing yourself by appeasing the nations.
2. a war is not about moral is about winning
cordier ,   paris   (12.08.05)
3. Zonshein doesn't know Jewish law either
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (12.08.05)
Deuteronomy 20 is NOT discussing a MANDATORY war (Milchemet Mitzvah), in which is what we are presently engaged. It is ONLY discussing an oprional war- a war of choice. In war, there is no room for fear. In a war where our enemy wants to exterminate us, there is no room for Zonshein.
4. Who is occupying?
Allan Farber ,   Hashmonaim   (12.08.05)
Once the media and even the PM has adopted the propaganda of the enemy, then what do you expect from the soldiers?
5. A self-service war.
Uzziel   (12.08.05)
What this guy is talking about? Israel is not the agressor, is fighting against his own will, a war of extermination and hatred. I canĀ“t find words to describe what this guy is pretending by waging a war under his own conditions. He is a war yuppie!!
6. The morality of survival
A. de Metz   (12.09.05)
Mr. Zonshein has the "courage to refuse" - in other words, he has the courage to be defended by those without his exalted ethical sensibilities. If he believes it immoral to defend the State of Israel and its citizens from explicitly threatened genocide, he should leave. He and his kind survive on the blood and sacrifices of those with real courage, physical and moral. The Bible and Jewish Law mandate self-defense. Zonshein and his ilk damage Israel at home and abroad, as they are often interviewed and quoted by foreign media to prove that Israelis do not support their government and defense of their state.
7. "Courage to Refuse" movement = bunch of mamas boys
(12.09.05)
Its ok haver, you can refuse all you want, and cry all you want. Like you said, this is dirty work and its not easy. If you dont have the stomach or motivation to do it then its very simple: get a transfer to some or other logistics unit and you will be happy. You'll have nice girls to chat to and a nice desk and airconditioning and lots of food. Courage to refuse my ass. Your orders are not unlawfull so follow them or quit
8. Is Ariel Sharon a mama's boy?
Oleg ,   Pennsylvania, USA   (12.18.05)
Ariel Sharon has had the courage to refuse to continue the worse-than-useless occupation of Gaza, and if it were politically possible he would withdraw from most of the West Bank too. Is Sharon a mama's boy too? By the way, the settlement of civilians in occupied territory is a violation of international law, so any orders that further the continued presence of the settlers make those who carry them out accessories to the crime.
