Just to add to your historical analysis: back in the 1990's, the Palestinians had a Philistine festival. The idea was that the Palestinians were descended from the Philistines, a/k/a "Sea People." BTW, the name "Palestine" originally comes from the "Philistines" (Hebrew "Plishtim"). The Arabs are not a homogeneous people. With the coming of Islam in the 7th century, many Christians and Jews in Palestine converted to the new religion.
