1. OT-Question to the Israelis
CZ ,   New York, NY   (12.15.05)
In NYC all the Ashkenaz I know are right wing-Likudniks. I hear it is exactly the opposite in Israel. So my question to you is - what percentage or Leftwing aka Smolanis in Israel are Ashkenaz?
2. Italians should thank god !!
Hiram ,   Tel Aviv   (12.15.05)
The Italians ( whom if I recall have something to do with " modern " banking system - bank=banco , the place where lombards would sit when changing money , or letters of credit ) should thank god..... What made Bibi a possible candidate for Italian finances ? And what is this statement really meaning ( See folks, I could have been a rich an important man in Italy, but I love you so much that I sacrificed my chances to be rich and famous just to take care of you !!!) P I T I F U L ! A P A L L I N G ! Typical of Israeli politicians !
3. Lucky Italians.
Meir Moses   (12.15.05)

5. Bibi........PLEASE GOOOOOOO
lier ,   I love israel   (12.15.05)
6. Question, please!
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (12.15.05)
WHY does one have to behold Netanyahu's sleazy mug in the papers every single day??? The guy's not rosh hamemshalah, he's not in the Cabinet, he's not leader of any faction, he's not particularly important in any respect, yet every day he's placed in the top three news. Why? He's merely an opportunistic loudmouth whose priorities in life are I, me and myself.
7. italy
mi   (12.15.05)
does he have any connection to italy surley you would have to have some connection to italy
8. Digging his own grave.
David ,   United States   (12.15.05)
He tells us that he DECIDED not to take a government position in another country? What the hell does he think this is, corporate America? How many politicians would even grace such a rediculous proposition with public mention? This certainly builds Sharon's case for Bibi being unstable.
9. I declined a position as Emperor of Italy
Logic ,   Israel   (12.15.05)
and decided to stay unemployed in Israel.
10. Jumping the Shark
Alfred   (12.15.05)
Isn't that nearly treasonous, or at least abandonment of the State? This is pure "jumping the shark". Imagine if Peres said that, since he lost, he's going to accept a job as prime minister of France where they truly love him? I don't know why comments like these don't exclude Bibi from Israeli politics - he clearly doesn't love his country enought to stay put no matter what - he's just one big opportunist. Even if he's only saying that he got the offer, to repeat such a thing without shame means he is really considering leaving. Buh-bye!
11. clearly Italian Fascisti r behind the offer!
(12.15.05)
12. a pity he didn't accept the job! he's probably waiting to be
(12.15.05)
asked by the California Governor to run for Senator from California.
13. Bibi is competing with Iran's PM for attention
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (12.15.05)
14. NETANYAHU IS RIGHT
Isac Blazer ,   Tel-Aviv Israel   (12.16.05)
the guy deserves some credit. its a well known fact that in Israel memory is short an d selective and that when you hate someone you would critisize him even if he went up and brought the moon (year on year 5% growth!!) for you at the time when you couldn't even look up to look at the moon (the 2003 recession, 13% unemployment rate, no tourism, no foreign investment).
15. I offer you a job in the Basque Country
Inyaki ,   Bilbao, Basque   (12.16.05)
I diddn't know our Bibi holds an Italian Passport in addition to his american one. I am surprised an industrial magnate can offer Ministerial jobs, doesn't it have to be a PM? This is the most bizzare story I ever heard. Aida Bibi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am offereing you a job of finance minister in the Basque country, my friend, and will provide you with the Basque National ID Card and the Basque citizenship ! In fact, you will be the Second ! Israeli with the double Basque -Israeli citizenship, and the first one wit the Basque-Israeli-Italian-US citizenship. Yours, Inyaki, from Bilbao - the indivisible and eternal capital of the Basques.
16. Q: How can you tell when a politician is lying?
Ariel ,   Canberra, Australia   (12.16.05)
A: His lips are moving! Bibi complains about Sharon's constant about-faces, but forgets about his own flip-flop by declaring Arafat as his NBF (New Best Friend) and giving him Hebron when he was PM. Sharon is still the only Israeli leader who kept his promise not to meet with Arafat. However, I must say that what Bibi did for the Israeli economy as Treasurer is nothing short of a miracle. He is the best Finance Minister Israel has ever had and the role suits his arrogant personality perfectly. He should abandon this silly lust for absolute power and return to the Treasury. Bibi must continue his economic program for another decade. Those who claim that he increased the gap between rich and poor don't seem to understand that this was inevitable given Israel's economic and existential crisis. In Australia we have seen over the last 15 years that free-market reforms, lower taxes and less government spending eventually lead to a flourishing economy and affluent society with only a handful of people who struggle to make ends meet. It will be painful in the short term, but you will be praising Treasurer Bibi in the long term. (I emphasise again that Bibi is unsuitable to hold any other office - especially PM).
17. Give credit where credit is due
Rick   (12.16.05)
Bibi did make a tremendous difference in the Israeli economy. He took a 50's style, socialistic, strangled by corrupt unions economy and turned it into a vibrant free market society. If you cannot see this then your ideological hatred has taken over.
18. joke
