1. It is unfair demand
Michael   (12.16.05)
It is really a rediculous demand, why US interferes in the PA afair.Well , I forget they are a afraid of the consequences on their beloved baby(Israel). Anyway, US and Israel can put their conditions and the Hamas will participate in the elecetion. If people accept Hamas guys to represent them, why is the problem with the US or they want US democracy like what we see in Iraq......
2. Good Interntions, But Virtually Toothless
Adina Kutnicki ,   NJ,US   (12.16.05)
Despite the good intentions of Congress, rest assured the US will deal with the PA, despite this resolution. Hamas will be immersed in the entire gov't , and the US will state that national security precludes this resolution. How do I know this? There was a resolution in the Congress declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel. How many times now has the executive branch stated "national security concerns will not allow its embassy to be moved to Jerusalem". In addition, the US will not even recognize Jerusalem being stamped on its passports. Any other proof needed?
3. Mahmoud Abbas
RIck H ,   Baltimore USA   (12.17.05)
He rode the back of the tiger and now he is about to fall in (to the tiger). Or you could say that he is about to reap the whirlwind.
4. This is a major blow to US interests & democracy in mideast
TJ ,   Texas   (12.17.05)
Where is all the BS about democracy, ballots, fair elections, people go to the polls?
5. Withold aid, so what?
Miss Muslima ,   London England UK   (12.17.05)
The Palestinians do not need American aid. End it. Amen.
6. we don't care
Palestinian   (12.17.05)
you should know we don't care if US stop the financial aid ,since more than this amount fateh leaders in the authority steel it ,and we know hamas instead of their political ideas ,they are not thiefs ,and this is enough for many Palestinians to vote for them
7. to #1 -- because we foot the bill.
(12.17.05)
You don't expect us to fund terrorists? Probably you do.
8. Democracy has never been about one man one vote.
AK   (12.17.05)
It is about a set of values. Remember, Hitler and his Nazi Party was elected with "one man one vote."
9. Michael
Alex ,   USA   (12.17.05)
They can elect whomever they please. But if it does not please us, why should we give them money? There is no right for the Palestinians to get one penny from American taxpayers. They can tax themselves and get their own money.
10. #5 That's easy for you to say
(12.17.05)
While you sit on your fat ass in England. Great idea. Withhold American aid to the Pals. It's about time!
11. Road Map requires dismantling Terrorists
David Landman ,   Natick, USA   (12.17.05)
Arabs need to prove they want peace by doing this. If they win elections even less reason to deal with them. Hitler was elected democratically. Palestinians deserve the same fate as Nazi Germany if thats they way they vote and thats the way they act. Prove otherwise. You'd be better off if you did. I dont care one way or another. Israel isnt going away and Jerusalem will stay its undivided capital.
12. too little ,too late
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.17.05)
The U.S. should have butted out of Israel's business a long long time ago. After their Oslo failure Israel should have showed them the back door told them to take care of their own mess at home ,and gone in to end the Palestinain threat once and for all. Instead 12 years into the U.S. peace scam ,the insanity continues it's slide down to hell. Thats what Israel gets for trusting in Idol's .
13. Hey Michael
Michelle   (12.17.05)
It's our money. We can give it to whom ever we please.
14. I agree Miss Muslima
Michelle   (12.17.05)
Time to end the American aid to such an ungrateful and unruly people. I don't even know why we pour our money into that country....bunch of hooligans running it.
15. Palestinian
Michelle   (12.17.05)
"you should know we don't care if US stop the financial aid." Good. I'm sick of your so called "leaders" pocketing that money and living off of it in Paris. In fact, why don't you just pay us every single penny back?
16. number 4!
Jill ,   Idaho   (12.17.05)
Voting does not a democracy make. Not in the real sense and surely not in the case of the Palestinians. I don't care who said it. Democracy is earned. Period. History tells us of the toil and personal sacrifices one makes on that long road to democracy. While on that subject, hate filled venemous cultures can vote til hell freezes over and come no closer not even in a million years to democracy. As for George Bush, it took his congress of the United States to set the record straight on Hamas. Now lets see if they mean it. Seeing these days all we hear blow from the mouths of our world leaders are toothless threats and hot air. Toothless threats and hot air is not going to win the war on terror. For now, bravo to the US Congress. This edict should have come straight from the oval office. However all we heard was not to meddle in PA politics, do nothing to threaten the final status (while innocent Israelis were slaughtered) and Abbas who has done nothing to stop terror is a MAN OF PEACE. Never once a word that if Abbas did not rein in terror the money would stop like a water faucet in a desert. War on terror? Democracy? Terrorists rule? No way.
17. #4 Hamas is a terrorist enterprise.
Tal ,   Israel   (12.17.05)
Check it out. read their charter.
18. Absurd
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (12.17.05)
It seems the American administration is just as preposterous as all the Brooklyn and Florida wannabe Jews on here who spend every waking hour of their lives hating Muslims. First of all, no-one (and I cannot help but say PARTICULARLY the US) should interfere in PA elections. Secondly, the very meaning of the world "democracy" precludes the possibility of limiting people's choice in elections. And finally, if the US wants to do something useful in the region for a change, it should insist Abas--who's proving to be a big disappointment--goes hard against Chamas, even at the cost of a civil war. After all, when Chamas gains more strength, it will have no quibbles about starting a civil war to get rid of Abas et al.
19. Hamas the Good Guys?
robert ,   GB, U.S.   (12.17.05)
How can you say that Hamas "aren't theives"? If they murder innocent people, that is stealing a persons life of which they do not have the right to condemn, which is much more than taking money that does not belong to them.
20. US Democracy
Abu Zaid ,   Jerusalem   (12.17.05)
Don't we just LOVE the American Freedom and democracy???Its just soo free.
21. WHO CARES
SAM   (12.17.05)
The US gives this money based on Israeli demand. All the money that are sent from the US are sent based on an Americn /Israeli co-odination.I mean they put these money to harvest some security feeling for the theives(sorry Israel). They are giving 1M TO ISRAEL VS 10,000 FOR PAL.
22. To the idiots on here
CZ ,   NYC   (12.17.05)
America is not saying Hamas is not allowed to run in these so-called democratic elections. America held an actual democratic vote in which the majority voted to withold money if Hamas runs. Do you get it yet? Do you idiots see the difference?
23. Who Were the 17?
JL ,   Sacramento   (12.17.05)
Does anyone know who opposed the resolution? They need to be defeated.
24. HAMAS was created by Israel, Dont Forget that guys
ali   (12.17.05)
Dear all, Dont forget that Hamas was created by Israel to counter Fatah in the old days. Any way I hate them but elections are elections and they must participate. Fateh is corrupt... Also if Israel and US keep this stu[pid policy then most likely they will win more seats exactly because of US and Israeli position.
25. all palestinians want is
aa ,   london   (12.17.05)
for all the outsiders and theives who stole there land is to get the hell out and leave them alone , leave them to live in peace just like the rest of the human race and stop the occupation , and beleive me they do not need your dollers or anyone elses money , they are a very hard working people and they can take care of themselves without anyones help , all they are asking for is there freedom from this appartied they are living under ......
26. #10 We can take care of the Palestinians
Miss Muslima ,   London England UK   (12.17.05)
"10. #5 That's easy for you to say While you sit on your fat ass in England. Great idea. Withhold American aid to the Pals. It's about time! " Oh sorry, you misunderstood! What i meant to say was US aid to Palestinians is irrelevent. If it stopped today, we would make up for it. In other words the Palestinians are not without financial support.
27. To #1, Unfair demand???
Moran Tal ,   Israel   (12.17.05)
Michael your sayings are quite ridiculous as for start if someone (USA) chooses to sponsor you (PA) then of course that he has the right to meddle in your affairs. There is nothing for free. Second, US seeks for peace while Hamas seeks for war. When there is no mutual interest there's no need for the USA to sponsor a party who does not support the idea for a better future by establishing peace. Third, I don't know who are you but according to your sayings, you are probably a radical Muslim who wishes to erase Israel from the map - well, if that's the case then I must tell you that it will never happen - live with it!!!
28. U.S. EU UN FULLY AWARE PA GOAL IS ANNIHILATION OF ISRAEL
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.17.05)
ISRAEL IS OFFERED UP AS A SECOND CZECHOSLOVAKIA Every single one of the PA's security services are involved in terrorist attacks against Israel. PLO terrorists were implanted into Israel through Oslo to commit mass murder and terrorism. THAT IS WHAT TERRORISTS DO. The U.S, EU, and UN are fully aware that the goal of the Palestinian Authority and other terrorist organizations is total annihilation of Israel. An Islamic terror state in the Jewish Holy Land enables that goal. Part of article from: Tuesday, August 23, 2005 Islamic Jihad says all Palestinians united Leader says total annihilation of Israel joint strategy © 2005 WorldNetDaily.com http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45917 "In a news conference in Damascus, the leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad today boasted all Palestinian groups remain united in the goal of annihilating the Jewish state of Israel. With Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia looking on, Ramazan Abdullah, secretary general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, said the Palestinian Authority and all Palestinian movements have reached agreement on a joint strategy after Israel's evacuation of the Gaza Strip. "This war would continue till full liberation of Palestine, restoration of the denied rights of the whole Palestinian nation and briefly speaking uprooting of the usurper Israeli regime," he said, according to a translation by the official Iranian Islamic Republic News Agency..." The hostile actions of the U.S. and EU to loyal ally, Israel, is against everything the U.S. has ever stood for, and against everything Americans believe in: freedom, justice, human rights, and the belief that we are all created equal. Unless the U.S. EU, and UN completely reverse their horrifying anti-Jew, anti-Israel policies, it will be evident that the U.S. EU and UN have taken their stand with the terrorists against innocents.
29. TRAINING TERRORISTS-PEACE AGREEMENTS OF ETERNAL TERROR & WAR
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.17.05)
U.S. UK pretend PA are not terrorists In the never-ending religious terror war against Jews, terrorists receive highly specialized training from the CIA and Britain. Every single one of the Palestinian Authority security services are involved in terrorist attacks against Israel. There were no apologies from the U.S. for the many Jewish deaths and great suffering perpetrated by U.S. trained Khaled Abu Nijmeh. There was no financial compensation for Khaled's many Jewish victims. There was no punishment for serial killer of Jews, Khaled. Khaled, and other terrorists were richly rewarded with long vacations in Europe. Below are parts of an article from www.sfgate.com http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/02/14/MNG50BANBE1.DTL Mideast training program backfires Palestinian security officers schooled by U.S. later used tactics against Israel - Matthew Kalman, Chronicle Foreign Service Monday, February 14, 2005 Bethlehem, West Bank -- In June 1998, somewhere near CIA headquarters in Langley, Va., two rows of men in military fatigues posed for their graduation photo. All of them were officers in Palestinian General Intelligence Service, charged with hunting down terrorists and preventing attacks on Israel. They had just completed a training course, paid for by the U.S. government, in which they learned firearms and counterterrorist tactics. But the graduation photo holds a stark warning for the Bush administration as it gets more involved in Middle East peacemaking. Some of the men in the picture later swapped sides and began using the skills they learned in Virginia against the Israelis. Such training courses, which were suspended with the outbreak of the Palestinian uprising in September 2000, will be an integral part of Washington's aid package for the new government of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Standing in the back row, second from the left, is Khaled Abu Nijmeh, from Deheisheh refugee camp in Bethlehem, according to two of his colleagues who are also pictured. By 2001, he had become one of the most-wanted Palestinian militants in the city, suspected of involvement in a string of suicide bombings and shooting attacks against Israelis. In May 2002, he was one of 13 gunmen escorted from the Church of the Nativity siege in Bethlehem, flown to Cyprus and then to exile in Europe. Three of the group, including Abu Nijmeh, were given asylum in Italy. "I am a member of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and a first sergeant in Palestinian General Intelligence," Abu Nijmeh, now 36, told The Chronicle from his temporary home in Rome. "I personally received a course in antiterrorism and VIP protection. "I was not alone. Many Palestinian security people were trained by the Americans. We hope they will continue helping us." Abu Nijmeh and his 12 comrades will be allowed to return to Bethlehem under the cease-fire agreement reached last week between Israel and the Palestinians. As Israeli commentators had been warning for years, the CIA inadvertently helped train future adversaries -- as it has done in other countries, including the anti-Soviet forces in Afghanistan who ended up as Taliban and al Qaeda militants. "This has proven to be a very risky undertaking," said Israeli political analyst Gerald Steinberg of Bar-Ilan University. "Both the CIA and British efforts to train Palestinians during the Oslo process helped strengthen terrorist capabilities." The training given to hundreds of Palestinian security officials between 1996 and 2000 was sanctioned by a presidential order in 1996 by then-President Bill Clinton, who was deeply involved in peace-making efforts." ©2005 San Francisco Chronicle Islamic terrorism is empowered, and our loyal ally, Israel, on the front lines fighting global jihad, is wickedly betrayed.
30. Michael Steiner, AKA Abu Jamal Yusef Al Islam
(12.17.05)
I'm sorry, but I can't really differentiate Michael Steiner's views from the editorial forums of often anti-Jewish Islamic organisations such as MPACUK . With his delusional barking shouts of 'Islamophobia,' 'wannabe Florida Jews,' and his unwavering support of Hamas 'freedom fighters,' one can only come to the conclusion that he is either a Muslim 'militant,' or a European Green Party member. To a new khafiya, Michael!! Maybe you can find one with the same pattern that Arafat had? Insha Allah!
