1. Bravo!!
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (12.20.05)
Good news. It's time we and the Muslims world started normalizing our relations. After all, we're historically much closer to Muslims than we are to anyone else. Thank you, Arik: this is a direct fruit of your wise and salutary policies.
2. Moderates ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.20.05)
The jihadist see these 'moderates' as apostates to Islam and the teachings of their perophet Mohammed. Ususally they are targeted for death as they are in Israel and Iraq. An 'apostate' moslem will always side with his radical moslem brother over the infidel non believer. Evidence of this is the fact that jihadist Zarkawi and Osama have not been turned in by local 'moderates' .The myth of moderates is just that ,a silent deception to decieve the infidels into believing there can be any real peace with Islam.
3. Marcel.

With justice, there can be peace with islam. Muslims do not hate jews, they hate occupation! occupiers in American and Iraq will lose!!
4. Michael
Mikael ,   New Zealand   (12.20.05)
Yes Michael, you are correct. The Muslims/Arabs have been at close battle with the children of Israel for about 3500 years now. Never has their been anything more than a tolerance of Jews among Muslim countries. Speak to anyone, who came from a Muslim country, as my Husbands parents did. Both born in Iraq they fled for their lives to Israel in 1951and they have many stories to tell of the history of their peoples lives for the last 2500 years in "captivity".
5. #3 All Non-Muslims are considered occupiers!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.20.05)
Wherever Non-Muslim people live on this earth, they are considered the occupation! The great and mighty G-D - Creator of the universe has given us the right to live on our lands. Only man attempts to take that right away from us! And Israel is the ONLY country that G-D said He gave to the Jews for all eternity!
6. Some Israelis have no pride, throw them a crumb
AK   (12.21.05)
and they'll kiss your hand. There is no warming up of any relationship between Muslim countries and Israel-- it is only a PR aimed to pacify those of us in the West who're increasingly becoming fed up with Muslim intolerance and racism.
7. TAKE BETHLEHEM & OTHER CHRISTIAN TOWNS INSIDE GREEN LINE NOW
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.21.05)
A Christmas without Christians By Abraham H. Miller FrontPageMagazine.com | December 16, 2005 Since the Palestinian Authority’s takeover of Bethlehem in 1995, under the Oslo Accords with Israel, Bethlehem has been transformed from a Christian city into a Muslim city. Bethlehem’s remaining Christians now live in a condition of dhimmitude (a reference to the second-class citizenship Islam imposes on Christians) in the city of Jesus’ birth. The Palestinians brought with them a political system based on primitive tribal relations, where the power of one’s clan became a substitute for the law. As a consequence, Christians have suffered civil outrage and criminal violence without recourse to justice. Christians have been refusing to live under these conditions and have been leaving Bethlehem in large numbers. ....the Orwellian message of the American Arab Anti-discrimination Committee (AADC) that held a candle lighting vigil on November 29, 2005 for Bethlehem’s Christians at San Francisco’s Union Square... Muslims in Bethlehem make the lives of Christians unbearable and force them to flee their ancestral homes while Muslims in America hold a vigil to blame the Jews. To understand how the Christians became a minority and the victims of thuggery in the city of Jesus’ birth, it is important to see just what Arafat did to Bethlehem once he got his hands on it. In 1995, Yasser Arafat gained control of Bethlehem and immediately expanded its municipal boundaries to include 30,000 Muslims living in neighboring refugee camps. Next, Muslim Bedouins living east of Bethlehem were incorporated into revised municipal boundaries. All this was still not enough for the PA to change the status of Bethlehem as a Christian city. But then Arafat created inducements for Muslims to leave Hebron and the area around it and move to Bethlehem. With Arafat’s government by clan, by gun, and by terror, a land Mafia developed that began expropriating land from Christians. In 2002, two Christian teenage sisters were found with their throats slit and their genitals mutilated. Muslims claimed the Amer sisters were prostitutes, as if that were justification for torture and murder. But Christians familiar with similar incidents claim the girls were murdered to cover up a gang rape. Of course, none of this appears in the AADC’s call for the candlelight vigil that is also designed to showcase the AADC’s divestment campaign against Israel. Indeed, just this week, the Vatican, in a rare diplomatic move, called publicly on the Israelis to intervene in Bethlehem on behalf of its severely receding Christian population. Now totaling less than 12% of Bethlehem’s population, Christians, who have been the targets of continual PA violence, might leave entirely. The result will be that in the place where Jesus was born there will no longer be a Christian community. In the West Bank town of Taibe marauding Muslims burned, looted and beat Christian residents in the name of a Muslim family’s “honor,” a family whose father had brutally beaten his daughter to death for wanting to marry a Christian. The violent Muslim mob burned a statue of the Virgin Mary and shouted, “Burn the Crusaders!” PA fire and security forces took their time arriving on the scene, appearing hours later. In the end, the mob was almost immediately released from jail. Meanwhile, the Christian fiancée of the murdered woman was arrested and beaten while incarcerated. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=20567
8. That is good
Abir Mustafa ,   Dhaka, Bangladesh   (12.23.05)
I am delighted to read this news. In fact, there should be an end to religious hatred and enmity between Israel and Muslim countries. In 2003 one of the eminent Bangladeshi journalists Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury spoke of such relations openly in his tabloid newspaper Weekly Blitz, which was banned and he was imprisoned false for 17 months for promoting the idea of establishing relations with Israel. He even spoke of up rise of radical forces in Bangladesh. Government did not listen to this courageous man. Rather they brought sedition charge against Choudhury. Now, after two years, his forecats became true. For details on Choudhury's efforts, visit www.freechoudhury.com website. I personally support the idea of establishing relations with Israel.
9. I do not agree
Salah Uddin Shoaib ,   Dhaka, Bangladesh   (12.23.05)
I would like to disagree with Marcel in what is said about the United States. Saddam was the worst ever autocrat in the history of Arab world, so he was removed. Bow there is democracy getting root in Iraq, slowly, but surely. I am happy to see that there is some great comments by the Bangladeshi and Afghan envoys on establishment of relations with Israel. This is a great move, and policy makers in White House should extend their support to such historic stands. Bangladesh government is fighting Islamist radicals within the country, and they are also moving towards the right path in war on terror. I welcome this effort. Please read Weekly Blitz at www.weeklyblitz.net for more on these issues.
