2. If the queers envy Britian so much, let them move there!
Avraham ,   Netivot   (12.22.05)
3. Compared to the USA, things are very good here.
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.22.05)
I actually quite proud of Israel. All common law relationships now receive equal status in Israel, while in many states of the USA, even hetrosexual common law relationships don't count legally. Many work places, both private and public, give same spousal benefits to same sex spouses as they do to different sex spouses. Despite some recent horrible incidents in the army, on the whole, gays are not harrassed in the armed forces, and there is certainly none of this "don't ask, don't tell." Gays may adopt each others children in Israel. So, let's be proud!
4. Homosexuality is against Torah law
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.22.05)
The State of Israel is a great miracle by which G-d enabled the Jewish people to live as sovereigns in the Holy Land, the place of our forefathers--the land promised to the Jewish nation by the Creator of heaven and earth. This truth places a special burden and privilage upon Israel's citizens and its government to preserve the Jewish integrity of the country: its legal and educational systems must be founded upon and inspired by Jewish values and Jewish tradition, so that its citizens grow to be proud guardians of the Jewish heritage.
5. To Micha - # 4
Lauren ,   Israel   (12.22.05)
And I suppose you are a likely candidate for being one of those honored "proud guardians of the Jewish Heritage", eh? Yup, as long as you are straight, preferably a man, and go to synagogue, keep kosher, and put your self in a place of supremacy by daring to judge your fellow human beings by sexuality, or sexual preferences, etc. - Well Micha, then you must be a very very good Jew! Yup, 'cause G-d said, "listen up people of Israel! I never liked homos and lesbians, so let's just call them an abomination". Yeah Micha, never mind that these same gay people are good people, who are Jewish, have very high values, are law abiding citizens, pay their taxes, drive carefully, consider themselves even (oh heaven forbid!!) good Jews even. Nope, Mr. Micha of Jerusalem has decreed that to be a really good Jew, you have to be a man who sleeps with a woman, preferably no doubt just for the "mitzvah" of procreation and nothing else, because if you are a gay man or a gay woman, G-d hates you for sure. Micha, I have a feeling you have absolutely no conception of what it means to be a compassionate and good person, never mind being a good Jew. Our heritage goes way beyond what a bunch of aged scribes wrote down what they decided G-d said. But then, this part would probably really freak you out, because the true proud guardians of the Jewish religion were none other than - WOMEN!!! Shabbat Shalom. Think about it.
6. #3 does not quite have it right.
New Family ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.22.05)
Family status is not granted equally to all forms of families in Israel. That is why New Family has to work so hard for each of the thousands of couples whom with we work. Please visit www.newfamily.org.il and ask how you can help.
7. #6 - I know we have a way to go yet,
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.22.05)
but it's still much better here than in the USA. Good thing our "friends" the evangelists haven't figured it out yet! I'm already on your mailing list, and I work for a place that keeps your organization's pamphets on file.
8. Like hell gay boys and girls!!

9. to Lauren
John ,   Denver - USA   (12.22.05)
You do realize you've accused Micha of saying things he never did and in the process unfairly demonized him? He said NOTHING about hatred towards, nor subjugation of, homosexuals nor women. Yet you accuse him of both and go so far as to state "I have a feeling you have absolutely no conception of what it means to be a compassionate and good person, never mind being a good Jew". I find it curious that any time someone challenges ANY aspect of the homosexual agenda they are subjected to this kind of attack...
10. #5: Great job
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (12.22.05)
Wekk said, Lauren. As Dorothy (#7) said yesterday: those who pin pink triangles on people now are the same ones who pinned yellow stars on Jews 70 odd years ago. How even more tragic, then, that there are some JEWS who are doing the pinning now...

12. give me a break
Tal ,   tel aviv   (12.23.05)
why don't you all stop arguing about the freedom humans have to choose what to do with their lives? as long as i don't hurt you, why can't i be free to do whatever i want and feels right for me? sooner or later, this country (as every country in the world) will have to accept same sex marriage and same rights for gays and straights, because you know what? we are all human beings.

Yoav Ben Zakai ,   Dimona, Israel   (12.24.05)
The highest rates of HIV infection are to be found in Botswana, South Africa and subsaharan Africa and the most common mode of transmission in these areas is HETEROSEXUAL sex. HIV is not confined to active gay or bisexual men. don't be STUPID. G-d some ppl in here are so ignorant and uneducated! Go LEARN the FACTS..

16. To Micha #4 and well said Lauren and Tal
David ,   Karmiel   (12.24.05)
Adultery is also against the Torah and it is also against the basis of all law - The Ten Commandments. Homosexuality is not mentioned on those hallowed stones. The Torah commands us to put both adulterers and homosexuals to death. Are you going to kill every Israel who has had an “affair”? I thought our religion preached tolerance and understanding. Just look at how MK Litzman, Chairman of the Knesset Finance Committee, is holding the country to ransom. Is that right according to the Torah? OK, Micha and all the other homophobes - so you don't like gays. No one says you have to but you DO NOT have the right to tell others how to live and to persecute people who are different. That is what the Nazis did to Jews, Gypsies and gays. If you believe in that then Israel is not the place for you. Live and let live. That is what you want, so allow others to live the way they choose. Just remember Micha and others, some in this world think you, as a Jew, are different and would like to do to you what you and the other bigots want to do to gays. You write of the miracle of Israel and Jewish values. Instead of condemning people with other lifestyles, why don’t you look at the corruption, crime and disgusting behavior in this country? That is and issue far more important. to all of us. Lastly, God, if you believe in Him, made all of us, gay straight and bi. Who gave you the right to judge Him?
17. finally
Sienna ,   Tel Aviv/Amsterdam   (12.24.05)
In 2001, the Netherlands became the first country to open civil marriage to same-sex couples. (Belgium became the second in 2003.) Hopefully Israel will follow not too long so they can also join the 21st century. We should accept people for who they are, no matter which religion, race, colour or sexual preference they have. We are all human beinges, with the same needs. It is sad to read some of the talkbacks here, but I'm not suprised...thank G-d there are also people like Tal, Gil and Yoav who are openminded and tollerant...:)
18. to # 9
Jay   (12.24.05)
the "homosexual agenda" you mentioned is just so that gay people can enjoy the same benifits as straight people. Equal rights for all means equal rights for all.

22. Here are the facts
Simcha ,   Ft. Lauderdale, USA   (12.28.05)
As far as civil rights are concerned, the USA is doing a poor job. I commend each nation's effort to at least examine the issue. Homosexuality is currently unexplained on a biological level. Socially though, we have already mutitudinous information. First I would like to commit to mentioning that the term gay or lesbian (of a social construction) may only be considered a label for what we determine love. Many cultures around the globe experience same-sex intercourse throughout their sexual experiences only to be socially bound to be with opposite sex partners in order to keep economic solvency and socio-political consistency. In our post-industrial societies (i.e. Israel, US, Britain) we have all that we need to become individualistic and self-sufficient. We have all the capabilities to express the FULL-BREADTH of our emotions, as well as of our sexuality. To say that homosexuality is wrong, is to recall a fool's errand. There is NO substantial evidence (besides heterosexuals' socially conformist agenda) that homosexuality is bad. As far as HIV/AIDS is concerned, I'd ask you to ponder what my friend #14 said, and to keep in mind that AIDS is highest among gay men, and lowest among gay women. I'll leave the reason why this is to your imagination. The ONLY problem homosexuality causes is a social one. For die-hard traditionalists (notice I didn't say conservatives), homosexuality is considered a sin. Yet, sinning is unclearly defined as a MAN-MADE concept. G-d, in the orthodoxical sense is an immensly misunderstood individual energy, 'it' (G-d) is some form of being that transcends space and time, some form that transcends our concepts of being in its entirety. If we were the least bit smarter, as a people, we would see that the laws that were written were written by men for men. G-d acts as the immortal being that created us, not regulated us. If sinning was taking to such a serious degree in G-d's (personified) eyes, then why hasn't 'it' struck us down already. Let someone who has yet to sin be the first to condemn. Not to be all cliche on everyone, but think about it. There is no sense in making a big deal about life. Look at religion, how long have we been persecuted for it? Look at the Jewish culture, how many times has it been threatened, how many times have we had wars, how much time has there been peace? I reckon, if we look at the greater picture, we would see that homosexuality, religion, and every other aspect to human life can exist WITHOUT hate, prejudice, or any such negative social distinction. The more you know of something, the less you will be afraid (or condemn) it. How many of you know homosexual couples, or homosexual people in general? How many of you have them as friends, or know of them unbiased? Do you know them via hate, do you know them via love? Do you know them? I would ask everyone in this discussion to take a step back, view things from the point of an unbiased observer. Look at life, and don't determine results (such as homosexuals are bad, so they will make me bad, etc.). Leave the future free of your predetermined pathways. Let the future unfold for your new perceptions, and I GUARANTEE you will see things in a new light. Just a bit of blabber from an anthro student, please excuse my path.
23. # 22 - Simcha
Lauren ,   Israel   (12.28.05)
Simcha, you are a wise person. Thank you for what you wrote. We can only hope that people will begin to refocus their energy towards acceptance and respect for others, and replace hate and ignorance with love and knowledge. Happy New Year, Lauren

25. Gay Marriage
The Golem ,   Los Angeles, USA   (12.30.05)
I have been together with my lover, my beloved for 23 years. In many ways we just a typical boring middle aged couple, except that we are both men. Civilly there is no legitimate reason for us not to enjoy the rights which marriage conveys from inheritance rights to the right to determine the best medical treatment should, G-d forbid, one of us become unable to care for ourselves to funeral arrangements, rather than relatives who have abandonned us. Religiously, doesn't it say that "it is not good for the human to be alone?" For one of us to marry a woman would be to lie to her and to G-d, taking on halakhic obligations which we know that we cannot keep. Finally, we Jews believe in the dignity of the person, which may set aside the conventional understanding of Leviticus.

Like my buddy hal turner says, if you think having anal intercourse with men is disgusting, you're a hater, unless you live in israel of course, because jews can't possibly be hateful
