I think I can answer your challenge instead. Ikrit and Biram have been a tragic case of people disposessed of their land, due to important military needs in the Independence War (nothing of the sort of "pogrom like zionist campaign " as Mr. Saliba so picturesquely described). What makes this tragedy so poignant in the Israeli consciousness, is the fact that these people have not been hostile to the Jews, and their villages were taken not because they ran away to Jordan, but because the IDF asked them to leave, and promised to let them return at the end of the war. The reason these people are yet to receive their villages back, is very delicate. Obviously all of the Israeli citizens feel that a great injustice has been done here, however, this wasn't without a good reason. The various Israeli governments, in their generations, were afraid that returning these two villages, despite the obvious moral obligation, will create a very dangerous legal precendent, after which many other Palestinian evacuees will start suing Isreal, to return to the villages they lived in, prior to 1948. Since there were over 200 of those villages, spread all over Israel, this is something that no sane Israeli would be willing to allow. This would allow entry to Israel of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Palesitinians, and this would mean the end of Israel as the Jewish homeland. Hopefully though, with the establishment of a Palestinian state, which would happen only with the Palestinians declaring the end of all their claims to Israel, and recognizing that the right of return applies only to their Palestine, and NOT to Israel - at that time, free of any legal concerns - Israel could finally give these two villages back, to the decendants of the evacuated settlers. Hopefully, we would not have to wait too long for this day.
