B"H The military had developed new roofing that is missile proof. Now is an excellent time to use it, on the gas stations. It is cheap, so put it in place. This is not a military response, but rather a very practical step, like sandbags protect from shooting in a combat zone. In fact, layers of sand a few feet deep should be brought in to protect the underlying gas. People buying gas may need to fill plastic gas containers and then fill their cars parked outside in a two-step fill, but at least then the gas station would be better shielded from these disasterous attacks. Israel has the technology, and sand is cheap. Use it. Or another option, build a separate more fortified gas station in the area with full protective roofing as well as protected storage tanks, and require the other ones to take a temporary vacation until the missle atttacks stop. Inconvenient, yes. But probably life-saving, so who cares. Save the lives, and convenience will need to go out the window until this can really get resolved. The city may need to adopt special legislation to protect its residents in this time until other authorities are able to do so. That what local governments are for, to protect their local residents from harm.
