38. reply to #25 - inhabitants and not 'children of Israel'.
michael ,   tel aviv   (01.08.06)
there is nothing in my version of Zephaniah 2:1-7 - that talks about the 'children of Israel'. Does your version say that or did you add it ? 2. He wants all in Israel and on Earth to know what will help trigger this fierce and righteous anger ... Gaza!!! 'Gaza will be forsaken' ... her inhabitants (the children of Israel) 'uprooted' and 'driven out.'
39. Stop Sinat Chinam and Re #7
(01.08.06)
Firstly #7 just about every Jew I have spoken to about this situation including those fully on the right are praying for the recovery of Sharon from illness. Secondly, friends please stop this sinat chinam - the name-calling on this forum is an embarrassment, we may disagree politically but we are all Jews, brothers and we will only achieve a solution to anything when we begin to act like it and show some unity.

B''H Rabbis all over the world called on Yidden to say t'hillim for Reb Ariel ben Dvoira. So for every Jewish baal nefesh this is a direct command that needs to be carried out with complete sincerity. Does this mean that we need to daven for Mr. Ariel Sharon, the tired, sold-out, and inept prime minister who has forsaken Torah and Jewish people, to return to power and cause more damage to us?? I think not - but I suggest everyone check with his/her Rov. I personally, continue praying for Ariel ben Dvoira to fully recover physically, b'korov mamosh and do a complete t'shuva and correct whatever went wrong in his neshama and seichel. On the other hand, for Mr. Ariel Sharon, the prime-rib minister, there's a brocho in Shemone Esrei as well - it starts with "v'lamalshinim al t'hi sikvo...." I have been saying it with extra kovono for the last few months... So, my dear beloved Yidden, **especially** those hurt by the man personally and directly please say t'hillim for that Jew's recovery in gashmius v'ruchnius. this is what ahavas Yisroel is. and to those of my dear beloved Yidden who spend their lives in Tel Aviv nail salons or sitting on a couch by a nice mazgan in Rana'ana.... It's hard for me to understand that while you watched 10,000 of your brother and sisters being torn from their homes, none of you uttered a word of support to them or offered a prayer or shed a tear. none. At best you very indifferent, at worst you cursed them. So now, when your overweight soon-to-be-indicted semi-god goes brain-dead (this was suggested for a long time by many but this time it was confirmed by doctors), all of a sudden you discover the power of prayer to the Holy One of Israel?? Nu? Who's going to pray for *you*? May it be Hashem's will that all cholei of Am Yisroel have refua shleima now.
42. Poor Girl!!!!
C'est Moi ,   Canada   (01.08.06)
It must be really tough on her with the thousands of dollars US tax payers gave her family to leave a land stolen by her. Let her try and live in one of the refugee camps in the West Bank and may be that would shut her up.

44. The anti-Religious hatred in here is VERY worrisome
Uri   (01.08.06)
First of all, I'd like to thank Mrs. Marmelstein for expressing her belief that although she as a Jew, wishes Ariel Sharon the best health and quickest recovery, she cannot support his return to power. After all, the psychological trauma and deep suffering his schemes have caused, not only to the still homeless victims of the expulsion, but also to the victims of the increased kassam rocket attacks - many of whom have been hospitalised with shock. (I wish the best of health to any Jew, that includes Mr. Sharon) On a more serious note, the talkbacks in here disturb me, deeply. I believe the situation amongst radically secular Israelis has become reminiscent of Nazi Germany - I don't say this lightly - The demonisation of the Jew: The Jew who reads his torah is evil, and therefore there mustn't be any sympathy felt for him. The Jews must be evacuated from their homes, and put into camps. The Jews who practice their religion are devils, terrorists - thus by harming them we are defending ourselves. The irrational and blind hatred of the Jew in Israel really brings sorrow to my heart. Thankfully, with most secular Israelis having only 1 baby and a dog (or simply leaving Israel) Jews who believe in their religion will soon become the majority, where they will no longer be so susceptible to illogical and blind hatred!
45. c'est vous
Alex   (01.08.06)
Sorry - I'm confused... Are you saying that we Jews *are* now allowed or even (as it would seem from your statement) urged to live in the "West Bank"?? Let me get this straight: are you a right-wing pro-transfer Jewish settler fascist or a left-wing brain-washed geographically-challenged canadian looney? these politics get so confusing when Jews are involved, don't they...
46. Fiddler on the Roof: Is there a prayer for the Czar?
Ilan ,   Ariel   (01.08.06)
Yes there is a prayer for everyone.... It is time for us to let go of some of our anger, I think. Sharon, will never return as PM nor will he ever have a role in public life again. G-d willing he will find some rest and hopefully time to contemplate his acomplishments, both good and bad.

48. Gaza Expulsion voice of the people
Chava ,   Beer Sheva   (01.08.06)
It was not Sharon's idea to remove Israeli residents from Gaza. It was an old idea from early 1980s that Gaza would eventually be cleared of Jews when Egypt didn't want it. And majority of Israelis supported that. Chas V'Chalila that all those who supported it get a brain hemmorage and a stroke like this Jew wishes to all that gave "her" land away. G-d is good and just but most of the justice occurs in the after life.
49. Dying for Gaza
Hugh Jardohn ,   Denver, USA   (01.08.06)
#41 writes; "It's hard for me to understand that while you watched 10,000 of your brother and sisters being torn from their homes, none of you uttered a word of support to them or offered a prayer or shed a tear. none." My point exactly in #16. Where were the people willing to die for their home? Ariel Sharon was laying his life on the line for at least 30 years before poor little Renana was born. If she wants credibility when writing, be able to tell of the bullets you took and how many of the enemy you put in their graves. But at all costs, stop whining.

51. A Very Wise Young Woman
Adina kutnicki ,   NJ   (01.08.06)
I think this young woman is wise beyond her years. While she differentiates between Sharon as a civilian, and Sharon as a PM, she is also very clear in her logic. All those who mocked the "settlers" for praying to God to stop the expulsion, are now praying for Sharon's health. How can it be that it is not okay to pray for ones homes and lives/communities, yet it is okay to join in the bandwagon for those now praying for the PM's life? Does God listen or does he not? Why should she now pray for someone who destroyed her life and that of thousands of others?
52. 'Inhabitants of Gaza' not Jewish? to #38
Craig Crawford ,   Laguna Niguel USA   (01.08.06)
I wonder how many 'children of Israel' agree with your position that God's fierce anger would rise because the 'Palestinians' (mainly Egyptian and Jordanians) would be 'forsaken' and 'uprooted' from the land God gave to the tribe of Judah (see Joshua 15) ... Why then would God promise this same land to the 'remnant' of the house of Judah sometime after all this (coming 'fierce anger') takes place? Then, according to you, God will get upset if 'Philistines' (Palestinians) might be 'uprooted' (and when have Jews ever dug up or 'uprooted' the graves of Palestinians and shipped them away?) Yet, according to the Bible (and in opposition to your view) God promises to someday destroy the 'Philistines'/Palestinians (Zeph 2:5) and return this same land to the remnant of the house of Judah. And, why would God be 'happy' to see the Jews in Judah uprooted when He promises the Messiah would come out of Judah (Micah 5:2 ... Gen 49) In fact, you yourself might be prophecy fulfilled, for the Bible warns at this same time ('The Time of Jacob's Trouble' ... the coming 'Apocalypse') that 2/3 of the people in Israel will be 'cut off' for their unbelief, for not believing God's Word is true. In Zechariah 13:8-9 we find ... 'And it shall come to pass in all the Land [Israel], says the Lord (yes, the same Lord whose 'fierce anger will rise' because Gaza has been forsaken) That 2/3 in it shall be cut off and die, but 1/3 shall be left in it [this coming 'time of Jacob's Trouble' ... the 'Apocalypse' will be a terrible time for Israel and the whole world] I [God] will bring 1/3 through the fire ...' Basically, the Bible says at the time of God's fierce anger, 2/3 of the Jews in the land will be living in unbelief and will no longer have sincere faith that God's Word is true and His promises (both blessings and curses) will never change. It was very interesting as we watched 'the forsaking of Gaza' unfold we saw some interesting 'numbers' ... 1. When PM Sharon first called for a vote of the 21 members of the Security Council (remember he tried to fire two so they could not vote against the 'uprooting' of Gaza) all the news reports thought it would be close, by maybe only one vote. However, the final vote was 14 in favor and 7 against ... meaning 2/3 of the security council had no faith in God's Word, that Gaza is in Judah and belongs to the Jews. 2. Later, when the vote went to the Knessett (elected officials who are a 'mirror' of the people) ... only 1/3 of the members voted in favor of keeping the Jews in Gaza (remember, in God's eyes and 'abstention' vote also shows no faith in His Word. 3. Later, Ha'aretz took a poll of the people and found only 1/3 favored keeping Jews in Gaza. When you study (and believe the Bible is God's Word) you find that 'God says what He means and means what He says!' Now is time for all (in both Israel and the world) to start taking God's Word and all His prophecies concerning that time after Israel would once again become a nation again very, very seriously ... And finally, I don't expect anybody to believe anything I say ... but I do hope many will 'search the Scriptures to see if these things are true!' Best regards, www.alphanewsdaily.
53. Write more often
Steve ,   USA   (01.08.06)
B"H I suggest providing feedback for ynet more often. There are some roudy responses, but there are people who need to hear from you more, like intersted readers as myself, and it is so hard to communicate otherwise. I think what you are trying to say is that you have prayed very hard for your house in Gaza and that house is no more. So maybe you feel your prayers were in vain, and what is the point of praying for the PM's health if that would be no more also because of your prayers, being the way they turned out for your house? I think your writing ynet was a very positive step in both directions. One thing that is very positive from your prayers is your health. The "disengagement" could have disengaged your health, and Thank G-d, it did not. I would much rather be in your shoes than that of the PM right now, because health is not replaceable, a true gift of Heaven. You were moved but not harmed substantially physically, and this is a lot to be greatful for, like Joseph was thrown in the pit, but was not harmed by the scorpions there. Plus you are here to write and I like that. We need a website where we can talk back and forth in English. I even have the site, but it is not set up. Maybe ynet can setup this up as a dialoge on expulsion site or something like that to facilitate communication. There is a lot to talk about, including the free trade treaty with the United States being violated with Olmert imposing taxes on donations to the poor residents exiled from their homes. We need an ongoing dialogue to continue. Or if you want to start a newspaper that does this, I think that would be wonderful. You took a great first step and I appreciate that. Thank you, and keep writing here!

55. Gaza is Not Part of Judah? To #22
Craig Crawford ,   Laguna Niguel USA   (01.08.06)
You say Gaza has is not part of Israel ... if this is so, then you are saying Judah is not part of Israel. I only have a minute before leaving (so I didn't have much time to prepare this answer), but you might prayerfully study ... 1. Judges 1:17-18 2. Joshua 49 (and pull out a map) I also pray the Lord will soften your heart towards your brethren in the tribe of Judah ... Best regards, www.alphanewsdaily.com www.theprophecies.com

58. Pray for yourself
John ,   Washington, DC   (01.08.06)
You call yourself a refugee? What of the refugees that once lived on the land you claim is yours? What concern do you have for them? I assume none, as you casually refer to them your enemies... They are not your enemies... they are your brothers and sisters. Pray for yourself, and for them... and that you both might one day no longer look upon the other as enemies, as murderers. This is what Sharon prayed for.
59. reply to 37 - where is your proof ?
michael ,   tel aviv   (01.08.06)
synagogues can be found today in many counries that don't 'belong' to Jews. There were some Jews there but it doesn't mean that it was 'ours'. Get real ! Your answer doesn't provide an answer. Where does it say in Zephaniah 2:1-7 (as someone else wrote) that the 'inhabitants (which is what it says) were 'the children of Israel'. I'd be happy to see something real and remain open to being convinced but please show me something convincing. regards, Mike
60. #41 (Hugh Jardohn)
Alex   (01.08.06)
B''H Dear Hugh. Thanks for quoting a part of my post in your response. Now, I *think* I understand your point. But I also think that something must be made clear to you as you seem unfamiliar with one of the very fundamental characteristics of the Jewish people. Every one of us (and I truly mean *every one* from the Tel Aviv crowd to those in Meah Shearim or Borrow Park) would defend the life of another Jew with everything he has. Every one of us would also sacrifice his life rather than deny his Jewishness or his bond with G-d. This is our innermost essense - the absolute truth about every Jew. It may be argued that some of us on the surface may not act this way - this means nothing. Unfortunatly we are largely ignorant, me included, and we are greatly influenced by the societies where we currently dwell. But that has 0 (zero) effect on the essense of our soul and that, (the soul) as I mentioned has the built-in ability for self-sacrifice... So, the fact that Ariel Sharon the warrior, put his life on the line countless times to defend Jews is without question. What's also without question is that he took risks (personal, legal, etc.) to get onto the political scene and to carry out his plan of removing Jews from Eretz Yisroel. Also a form or self-sacrifice. Unfortunately, it would seem that he was influenced by external factors (old age and mental fatigue probably) and this self-sacrifice was mis-directed and used for terrible goals... The author here may not have, as you suggest, use bullets to put people in their graves, but I fail to see what that has to do with her *ability* to put her life on the line for other Jews. We Jews sort of take that for granted, you should know... As to "whining" - I don't hear it... Sorry.
