1. If Israel do no reverse its decision soon...
Abdullah ,   Kuwait City   (01.10.06)
It will confirm for the rest of the word how racist and prejudice it is the rest of the world and how it claim on being a democracy is all a myth! It completely up to the State of Israel to show the world what it's really is! Shalom
2. sorry
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (01.10.06)
The minute he becomes a pilot every Islamic terror organization in the world will start trying to recruit him to do heaven knows what. Sorry, we don't have to take risks like that.
3. I admire his convictions
Yael ,   Israel   (01.10.06)
But i have to say that I am releived the army made this decision. As much as the young man talks a good game, we (israel) are in not position at the moment to take even the slightest chance. And if this young man is truly "Israeli in every sense of the word" he would understand and accept that completely.
4. good decisions IDF; we don't need a 9-11 here
Yonatan ,   Israel   (01.10.06)
5.  arab already caught spying for Iran;can't trustt 5th column
(01.10.06)
6. IDF purpose is Jewish defense;muslims don't defend Jews
(01.10.06)
7. Impressive! Not all Jews are brainless
Ann   (01.10.06)
To allow an Arab join the IAF would represent an ultimate case of the Israeli stupidity.
8. #1 Kuwaity ..do you want a lesson in democracy?
Ann ,   USA   (01.10.06)
You don't know what democracy is if it hits you in the eye. Kuwait is another brutal tyrannical Arab regime among the 22 tyrannies.
9. Shame on the IDF
moi ,   Tel Aviv   (01.10.06)
Israel pretends to be a Democracy....what a joke....if we were then every citizen should be treated equal....I admire the youths determination and wish him good luck...
10. What's Hebrew for Catch 22?
George W ,   Chicago IL   (01.10.06)
So a bunch of racists posting on this board are convinced that Israel can never allow an Arab to join the IAF, because everyone knows that every Arab in the world wants nothing more than to kill Jews. I recognize some of these names from previous discussions, where they often say that Arabs can't be trusted because they don't serve in the military. Well, do you want them in the military or not? Or should they all join the military and be relegated to floor sweeping jobs? Or would you then freak out every time you see an Arab janitor? My guess is what you really want is transfer. Cheers, George W
11. Israeli Arab today but terrorist tomorrow?
Marsh ,   UK   (01.10.06)
Of the hundreds of actual and attempted suicide bombers, every one was a 'good person'' until indoctrinated. Israel cant take chances.
12. to #10
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (01.10.06)
Despite your leering arrogance, I've served in the Israeli army with Arabs who were loyal soldiers and I was happy and proud to serve beside them. A pilot is a different matter. Sure, maybe he'd be OK. What if he's not? Easy chance to take in Chicago, isn't it? Stop leering and hating for two seconds and start thinking, but it's clear you're not capable of it.
13. Was a reason given?
Ilan ,   Ariel   (01.10.06)
I note that the article doesn't state the reasons for refusing. Was he good, but not good enough for the IAF (happens all the time) or was he deemed a security risk and therefore refused entry into the training course. I applaud the young man's convictions and goals and I hope that he realizes his dreams.
14. He should have the opportunity
EM ,   Israel   (01.10.06)
I hope the IDF reverses its decision about this young man. If he is qualified for the pilot's course..then he should by all means get the chance. They also rejected women also for various reasons. We should be encouraging this boy who shows devotion and motivation to the State of Israel...instead of fearing a potential that he be "turned" into a terrorist. My husband is a pilot in the IDF and I personally would welcome this young man... if there is anything I can do to help him...I will.
15. abdullah habibi
kapara   (01.10.06)
What is the total number of Jews serving in the Air Forces of all the Arab countries combined at this moment? I think we can round that number to ZERO. Let us know when Kuwait passes a law allowing me to move there and live next to you and join your airforce, then you can judge us. I ask you, an Arab, to stop holding Jews to a higher level of accountability than you do Arabs.
16. Yo BobK #10
George W ,   Chicago IL   (01.10.06)
"Sure, maybe he'd be OK. What if he's not?" Robert, you could say that about anyone in the world. What if some Jewish trainee turns out to be one of those wierdos who gives out pulsa dinuras against his superiors? I can't help but notice that the only people who are under permanent suspicion, by you and others like you, are Arabs. How is this not racism? Look, if you don't like Arabs that's your business. Just answer this question. If Arabs in Israel feel loyalty to Israel, they won't hate it. If they're so gung ho to serve the state, like this kid, but they're told that they're not worthy, they will be a lot more resentful than if they were allowed to serve. Not only this kid, but all his friends, will remember that Israel shut the door in his face because of his race. How does this help Israel's long term security? I'll hope you will give a coherent answer to this question and dazzle me with your superior thinking abilities. Cheers George
17. Akh, what to say...
Michael Steiner   (01.10.06)
Very disappointing. For the young man, for me, for everyone who believe in the State of Israel for ALL its citizens. #1 is entirely correct. And those morons who're talking about a 9/11, the youth has already flown airplanes, many times. And with even a light civilian aircraft it is possible to do more damage a la 9/11 than a military jet. Your bigotry is so astounding you cannot even see your own illogic.
18. WELL said kapara -Abdullah post on Arab sites
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (01.10.06)
Abdullah should first look into Kuwait, his home, which is a hole of hate, no existing human rights, and I have NOT heard that a Jew can be in their forces, nor even live in peace in their Arab backward countries Abdullah keeps posting here, why not on his own Arab sites ? Because there he cannot say a word, nor critizice, since then he sits in Kuwaiti prison So those poor Arabs with their golden spoons in their mouth come to Jewish sites
19. Who said that he's qualified?
Shimon ,   Israel   (01.10.06)
99% of those who apply to be pilots don't end up there. So what?
20. Response to Ann the racist hypocrite (post 8)
Abdullah ,   Kuwait City   (01.10.06)
Dear hypocrite Ann, We in Kuwait know that we are a monarchy with Al Sabah family ruling over us with great limitations! But what is funny is that you and some ignorant Americans who do not know for a fact that you democracy is now the property of the Bush Royal Family :) Get ready for the upcoming Prince Jeb Bush claiming of the U.S. thrown :) Salam sweet heart.
21. response to kapara (post 15)
Abdullah ,   Kuwait City   (01.10.06)
7abeebty kapara, Israel is in a state of war with Arab states so your question is totally baseless! But is Israel in a state of war with its own Arab, Muslim CITIZENS?
22. youth sent to paratroopers instead
Elad ,   Hifa   (01.10.06)
first it is very hard to get in the israel IDF and if you will get in you will probably be thrown out later . secondly he got in to the paratroopers which is very prestige .
23. to #16
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (01.10.06)
Pal, I could answer your "arguments" with the greatest of ease. With this statement-- I'll hope you will give a coherent answer to this question and dazzle me with your superior thinking abilities. --you advertise very clearly an attitude of sarcasm and jeering that is not capable of listening to others.
24. Abdullah , Kuwait City
Nieuwenhuizen   (01.10.06)
Arab pilots tend to be risky remember the Egyptair crash http://www.cnn.com/US/9911/04/egyptair.01/
25. Very impressive he is in paras
Rachel ,   Jerusalem   (01.10.06)
Look Abdullah do you know how impressive the Israeli paras are! If he feels comfortable being a part of Israeli society, I am all for him. People are rejected for things in the IDF for all sorts of reason - my husband did the sergeants course but didnt become a sergeant. I think that if an Arab person wants to integrate and be part of Israeli society with honorable aims then I have a lot of respect for him - I dont just see him as my equal - he is quite possibly superior to me.
26. Sorry about rejection!
yardena ,   israel   (01.10.06)
I am sure there is a valid reson for the rejection. There are many more applicant who are also rejected but this one has been made a big issue just because he is an Israeli-arab.
27.  Abdullah in Kuwait go and post on Arab sites
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (01.10.06)
Who really asked your opinion No one. Sort out your own sick Arab countries to point out what your Arab states are all about . is factual.. it is not racist You see in western society we can talk freely ....... you cannot, and cannot accept facts You constantly critizice Jews, Israwl, etc.... grab your own nose . as I told you many times before and concern yourself with your own Arab problems
28. Why is he Loyal to Israel ?
Andrew ,   Miami, FL   (01.10.06)
why is he loyal to israel - this is the most importnat question
29. So, any rich boy with a pilot license should get in?
Tahl ,   Israel   (01.10.06)
I'm glad the Air Force didn't let him in, not because he's a Muslim, but rather - because if he WERE to get into the course, it would be unfair to the rest of the draftees who try out. These ordinary draftees, do not have a civilian pilot license, their parents do not have friends in high places, they do not have retired pilots recommending them, they do not use the media in order to improve their chances of getting in. And, once they fail (as 90% of them do) - they do not have civil life waiting for them - instead, they have a hard service waiting for them, in some other force.
30. abdulla, ayooni
kapara   (01.10.06)
abdullah, I'm jewish, I'm a citizen of Yemen, I have a pilots license, I want to join the Yemen air force. What are my chances? Is Yemen in a state of war with its citizens?
