Some of us believe Israel's creation is beginning of such redepmption, but regardless, Israel is number 1 a heaven for all Jews around the world who ran away primarily from Christian and Muslim anti-semitism and their descendants to build our own country in which we can live in peace. So let us alone decide on how to accomplish it-you have very little say in this matter. It is between us and G-d. You are not even a part of the conversation. If you wanted to be, then you should have not done 2000 years of pogroms, killings, forced conversions, etc. The fact that you have tried to change over the last sixty years does not give you a license to mix in your five cents. You're one of my favourite persons on this talkback but I think you're misguided on this subject. Pat Robertson has a TV programme named the 700 Club that has tens of million of viewers. Evangelical Christian leaders all across America are very upset at Jewish organisations' recent attempts to silence Christmas in America. Several Evangelical leaders have openly stated that they will call off support for Israel if the demonisation against them amongst Jews continues. Israel is holding on by a thread, and the Evangelicals are our freinds. Israel cannot survive without US military, economic, and diplomatic support. Evangelicals are practically the only Americans, besides Jews, who are support Israel. The Protestants like Presbyterians and United Church of Christ are boycotting Israel. 40% of Black Americans are considered very anti-Semitic. Today's American Left blames the Iraq war on Israel. We all know the Catholic church's bias against Israel, and so on. Have you ever heard someone say,'Be happy that you have friends?' I'm sorry to say, but the alienation of this strongly pro-Israel Christian man, whose charitable work around the world - including in Islamic nations - is unprecedented, really could cause a rift between Israel and Evangelicals. I am a Christian and I do not agree with Pat Robertson publicly saying what he did. It was very insensitive. He should be praying for Ariel Sharon instead of shooting his mouth off. But, he's right. I don't have the torah in front of me, and I'm a little new to the faith, but my rabbi made it fairly clear why the decision was made for the pull out. That land has been desputed for millenia, because a couple tribes, when moses was going for the promised land, said that they should get that area, that they could make it the first line of defense, and Moses decided that was both a sound argument and that agreeing would work better anyways. so Moses, a (blessed but mere) man, gave them that part. Not God. it has been in conflict frequently since. So, to calm the suicide bombers and battling of today, Sharon decided that God most likly preferrs peace and security for his people within the God granted land over blood shed and war over Moses granted land.
