It's hard to tell whether some of those who have posted responses are truly jerks or just pretending. As someone who finds genetics, history, and genealogy fascinating, I'd like to know more about this study. Are the descendants of these four women in Haplogroup K? I'm in this group along with Otzi, that fellow found frozen in the Italian Alps.

In general a few points here. Mitochondrial DNA can help establish, at least in part, origins and migrations of peoples. I think this is interesting. No less every people throughout history migrated, including teh Arabs (Palestinians, different Arab tribes, Germans, Slavic tribes, etc). We can all learn from this, especially about genetic disorders. FYI Hassan Jews are today represented by a mixture of ethnicities and races, much like Arabs (and Plaestinians). I think it would be interesting to do such a study comparing the mitochondrial DNA of various Arab tribes, and peoples, including the Palestinians.

I think it would be very informative to compare various surrounding "Arab" groups to Jewish (Sephardi and Ashkenazi) DNA. I would imagine many are descended from Jews who fled the Romans to nearby areas and later accepted Islam...especially when you look at their naming patterns and customs....why would a Moslem name his son Yusef or Yakub if they claim descent from Esau and Ishmael?
