Ladies and Gentlemen, The United Nations has ceased in its usefulness. It was created to prevent the proliferation of war and hate. And yet since its creation, it has not lived up to its purpose. It has stood by during the Arab-Israeli wars and done nothing, even allowing for the 6-Day war to occur by moving out of Egypt's way. It has stood by during the Rwanda genocide, and the genocide currently taking place in Darfur. It has allowed hostile states ruled by dictatorships like Syria to sit on the Security Council. It has allowed horrible human rights abusers such as Libya to sit on the Human Rights Commission. This is not acceptable. We no longer have use for a UN that will blast Israel for human rights abuses but not say a word about those going on elsewhere. The time has come to disband the UN and create a Union of Democratic States. An organization devoted to the principles of democracy. We need an organization that will help the world, not one that is frivolous, just talking and not taking action for the better.
