I agree 100%. In a nutshell he has stated everything I have been thinking. Israelis should listen to him, he's a Nobel Prize winner (a deserving winner) but probably because he wears a Kippah Israelis will be disgusted and turn the other cheek. Why are the majority of Israelis so secular? Why do they shun everything Jewish? I'm not Orthodox by any means but I'm always proud when I see a fellow Jew in the street with a Kippah or Magen David. What exactly disgusts Israelis about being religious? This is at the root of the settler hate and demonizing. This must be dealt with. I'm glad Professor Aumann has brought this to the forefront. I wander How such a prestigious person who got the Nobel Prize is talking like this. It is a shame for the scientific communilty to give this person such a prize, for a man who is calling for war and killing and occupation. It is a shame to give him this distinguished prize. Absolute nonsense. First of all, the settlers have over the years been treated a damn sight better than e.g. the third of all Israeli children who cannot afford a proper meal in any one day. Of course many of them are principled (though that doesn't necessarily mean their principles are laudable), some of them even principled in a good way. But if keeping a couple of hundred thousand people in a location has deleterious consequences on MILLIONS of people, which it does, then it's a no-brainer. As far as his postulate that "territorial concessions won’t bring peace," he's entirely correct. No-one is actually claiming otherwise: I think even the most fantastic Utopian notions from the likes of Meretz have by now dissipated. There can be no peaceful settlement with the Palestinians, in which we withdraw to some borders and they live side by side with us in peace, and I don't think such a settlement will be possible for years if not decades. But that's not the point of territorial "concessions." Their point is rather to avert high costs and a disastrous future. The costs of both the settlements and our military presence in the midsts of a very hostile Palestinian population is exorbitant: financially, economically, socially, legally, internationally, in terms of lives lost, wounded, destroyed..., and in many other ways. And the long-term future of a continued involvement is even worse: a demographic annihilation of Israel. We cannot make millions of Palestinians disappear nor can we keep them under occupation for centuries to come (as have learned many countries so far--the last being Indonesia) so we'll sooner or later have to give them the citizenship and all that it entails. And we all know what that would mean. So, a withdrawal behind a wall is the only option.

Because the Arab insurgency is trying to take it over from the Jews and if you disagree or question them then they will blow you up into pieces at schools, discos, supermarkets, buses, restaurants, hospitals or hijack the planes and cause pain, death and destruction. The mathematics are probably perfectly correct, justifying the Nobel Prize. The problem is that the models are predicated by the asumption that people are rationally motivated only by cost-benefit analysis. Aumann does not take into account that people are irrational. He should just spend five minutes reading the talk-backs here in order to discover that.

the sooner Israel cease to exist as Jewish state and becomes a a state for all people the faster the real peace will happen between Jews and Palestinians. Israeli goverment must stop inviting Russian, Ukrainian and American citizens to come so called promised land. If Israelis recognize Palestinian right of return so will Palestinians will recognize Israel as a state which has rights to be there (though not as a pure Jewish state).
