1. We will not be indimidated, nor will we become apologists
jeff ,   USA   (02.02.06)
Islamic bullies, so the world has said this kind of behavior is acceptable and we should just cater to them whenever they intimidate those who would illustrate or propagate or literate the problems inherent in the religion of Islam. The same problems are inherent in Christianity as well, and many, many illustrations, books, and propaganda have been negatively geared towards Christianity. If religious leaders can't see that their religiosity is inherently problematic b/c they rely on superstition and myth than that is their shortcomings and not the secular world at large. If Islam really is about peace then they're doing a terrible job of relaying that message to the world. That sound you hear is of the silence of Islamic leaders who should speak out against violent reaction and militant protest, but they don't. I wonder why that is? Could it be b/c they are all fundamentalists who believe that infidels should be destroyed? Sending planes into a couple buildings doesn't mean that Islamic groups have incredible leeway when it comes to acts of revenge when they feel they've been wronged nor does it give them the right to say or do whatever they want. There are a lot of people that have been wronged in this world, the most of all Native American Indians, and I don't see them flying any planes into buildings or holding up guns while taking over an embassy. Soon the citizens of the world will stop babying these ultra-religious fanatics, and the moderate message of acceptance will be replaced by, "your way of thinking is unacceptable and doesn't belong in the mainstream, go back to the shadows of your private praying mosques and leave the rest of the world alone." The only reason the world hasn't reacted with more outrage is b/c their in fear of dieing from a terrorist act, but that won't last forever.
2. Intentional insultion to any religion is wrong
Desperate Israeli   (02.02.06)
Regardless of the people who follow it, how they act and how they react.
3. I love it...
Stan ,   Sydney, Australia   (02.03.06)
I do not condone cartoons vilifying other peoples religions. It is just not moral. But, I do love it when countries such as Norway, France and Denmark (three of the most anti- Israeli ie Jewish, countries in Europe) suffer at the hands of their bedmates and cohorts.
4. French Rabbis
Bill Pearlman ,   Chicago, USA   (02.03.06)
These two guys have way too much time on their hands. Obviously French Jewry is in dynamite shape without any problems and living in perfect harmony with the Moslems in France.
5. Jewish Dignitaries
AK   (02.03.06)
Those men are despicable, having neither honor nor backbone-- they are supporting suppression of the free speech. Where are they when Jews and Judaism are daily insulted in the Arab press and television? Hiding under the bed? Where are they when Jewish youngsters and synagogues are being attacked by those very Muslims on whose behalf they now speak up. And why exactly must they inject themselves into this particular fight and, if they must, why on the wrong side? What despicable dhimmis.
6. What a bunch of stupid dhimmis.
Daisy ,   USA   (02.03.06)
It's called free speech and if the uncivilized Muslims don't like it they can go to Mecca.
7. Rabbi Joseph Sitruk
Khalid ,   Halifax   (02.03.06)
God bless this great Jewish Rabbi and all his followers. This was an extremely needed and responsible condemnation of a rediculously inappropriate racist cartoon. Freedom of speech requires responsibly speaking, and not just insulting millions for the sake of that "freedom."
8. jeff s answer
andre ,   miami,fl   (02.03.06)
jeff,,,obviously your ignorance has no limits..
9. #4 : What are you talking about?
TC ,   Haifa   (02.03.06)
Just try to live as a jew in France during the last four years and you will understand the meaning of antisemitism.
10. Rabbi Joseph Sitruk has already submitted
Jenny   (02.03.06)
He has accepted his role as a dhimmi in the future Eurabian country of France. To #9, I think #4 was being sarcastic.
11. Muslims
Jordi Gomis ,   Barcelona, Catalunya   (02.03.06)
...sorry muslims of the world, but we have freedom of speech...thing that most of you don't know what is it, unless you consider freedom of speech getting a belt bomb and bursting in a bus. It's amazing that a caricature (yes, we make caricatures of our politicians, religious leaders, kings, god, jesus) can start this wave of violence. I don't see you so violent when in a trains in Madrid you kill 190 people, don't see you in the street protesting against that...guys, if you come to europe cos your country is too f...ed up, stuck to our rules, and if not....easy...stay in pakistan, iran or wherever you come from.....maybe the caricatures were no very fortunate, but, you will not take away our freedoms with violence (thou it seems you're too used to violence when something annoys you)...be more demanding to your leaders, cos, unless you change a little, don't fool yourselves....most of the world sees muslims like a potential bomb...why? just give it a thought. Peace and love.
12. Muslims 2
Jordi Gomis ,   Barcelona, Catalunya   (02.03.06)
...and by the way, where were you muslims when taliban destroyed buddha statues in afghanistan? the day islaam respects people as much as Mahoma or Mohammed, maybe we can start talking about the cartoons...til that day, sorry, but fortunately, my country's constitution is not based in islamic law...woman can study, drive and work....if you don't like how things are in europe, easy...go back to your countries.
13. #9
William Pearlman ,   Chicago, USA   (02.03.06)
Sarcasm my friend.
14. Poor jeff and all similar crap
Libyan Guy ,   Italy   (02.03.06)
Jordi, do you really have fredom of speeech ??? OK Dare you pubblish such stuff with Jeiwsh holocust images in which you laugh about the same !!! you will never do that because your a** will endup in jail. you have only a dirty face and freedom of speech is something great but with respect to all others and not yelling like a dog and saying its freedom of speech. keep your freedom for your people and learn how to respect, as i don't need to remind you that in the past the whole world did all possibile bulls*** and it was fine. Good fr your to see our reaction so you learn that evenrything in ife has limits. try and pubblish something about jews my hero and i will write my applogies to you ....... just do it with your dirty freedom of speech ........... in your dreams
15. Brave Denmark
Christian ,   Sweden   (02.03.06)
The Danish people resisted bravely the nazi occupation during the 2nd world war and saved most of its fellow Jewish citizens from deportation to the death camps. The Danes will not take this insult to their nation and their democracy. They will defend it and they will not accept that Danish law should be subjected to sharia. This stupid nonsense about the cartoons in the Muslim World is religious madness at its worst's. Every decent person should support Denmark. Civilian peace is not to be bought at he cost of freedom of speech and press and freedom of Religion is not the right to force your convictions on other citizens, let alone citizens in other states. And if then , once again, war is the price to be paid in defence for the Open Society and Western democracy , so be it. We will not lose. And that is my word.
16. Muslims dont respect other religions
Russel ,   Israel   (02.03.06)
The two colossal statues of Buddha carved into the sandstone cliffs of Bamiyan, Afghanistan, were demolished by the Taleban on March 2001. Pagans who won't convert to Islam are executed on the spot. Shall I go on or is the thread plain to see...?
17. Interesting Difference
Christopher ,   Boston, MASS USA   (02.03.06)
While Muslims riot throughout the world over the Danish cartoons, isn't it interesting that their media continues to issue and print cartoons that depict Jews as "sons of the devil" and attack the "God of the demons"? So here we ave a JEWISH RABBI condemning the posting of the cartoons, knowing full well that his Muslim counterpart fully supports the demonization o Jews. Proves again what Judaism stands for, and what Islam has become!
18. Latest cartoon controversy
Jonathan ,   London   (02.03.06)
I find it ironic that the vast majority of recent incidents and activities which illustrate one religions total disregard and disrespect for other people's and their religions have been committed openly and proudly by Muslims and Muslim leaders. To name only a few: The destroying of sacred and precious Budhist statues in Afghanistan; Calling openly for the destruction of Israel; leaders public denial of the hollocaust; continually publishing cartoons villifying Jews; continually publishing cartoons depicting Hindus negatively and publishing of denigrating treatment of Cows as a provocative act; criminalising the conversion or attempt to convert Muslims to any other faiths in many Muslim countries with severe sentences to those proselitizing - even for simply having possesion of literature. Yet these same people re-act with such intense indignation when they suffer the mildest of abuse! Muslims living in the modern world are unable to reconcile their predicament (of poverty, lack of real power and low rung which they occupy amongst the nations) with being people of a book handed down by the divine and his prophet. The latest cartoon adds insult to this perceived injury which they have not come to terms with. They will only transform when they come to the understanding that there inability to control their circumstances stems directly from their slavish literal fundamental and ignorant understanding of their "book". T hey still do not understand that real freedom is derived from democracy and tolerance and that truth/ reality must be arriced at by each individual!!!
19. #11 Jordi
muslim ,     (02.03.06)
"sorry muslims of the world, but we have freedom of speech...thing that most of you don't know what is it, unless you consider freedom of speech getting a belt bomb and bursting in a bus." wait a minute, are you saying that freedom of speech is NOT getting a belt bomb and bursting in a bus??? oh, i thought thats what freedom of speech was. Moron
20. All you "Jews" that posted here:
David   (02.03.06)
The condemnation from Rabbi Joseph Sitruk was an extremely humane gesture that should be commended and not bashed by you racist "Jews" (in quotes because surely you're not acting as Jews should) Respect for all religion is necessary and for all that think Judaism is getting insulted daily in Arab newspapers, you're wrong. Judaism is different than Jews, and insulting Muslims is different than insulting Islam. Pictures of a Holy figure like the Muslim Prophet should not be depicted in newspapers, while pictures of bin Laden are fair play. Just like an insulting picture of Moses would be extremely irresponsible, anti-semitic, and hurtful; negative portrayals of Sharon would be fine. For all Jews, you should not see this condemnation as negative, but see it as the necessary mutual respect for all religion that SHOULD be present in our world. For all the non-Jews, stop speaking on behalf of Jews and insulting our Rabbi when he is not who you follow, nor do you follow the Religion, speak for yourselves but respect all Religions.
21. So - About this Moslem / Jewish Freindship society
Saint Andrew ,   Miami, FL   (02.03.06)
after all the attcks on jews in france by moslems for NO REASON - do they condemn themselves for what they have done ?
22. To Lybian Guy
Jordi Gomis ,   Barcelona, Catalunya   (02.03.06)
If you have read some other of my posts here, I have also criticised israel...but nobody threatened me. Don't compare the holocaust and a cartoon of Mahoma please...have some dignity. The problem of the muslim world is that you defense yourselves ALWAYS with violent means, ALWAYS. And I really adore my freedom of speech, thing that I am not very sure you know about in Lybia, and probably that's why you moved to italy. Tell me a single occasion where muslims have demonstrated against disrespect to another religion rather than islaam...just one single time please. Probably, in the example of the huge buddha statues in afghanistan u didn't even care...the rate of extremism in the muslim world is really worrying my friend, and you can close your eyes for so long as you need. I am agains demonization of islaam, but have to say that you're not helping that much...the same way in Barcelona we stood against the war in Iraq (more than 1 million people), I will stand defending the right to caricaturice a religion, prophet, god or whatsoever.....and if in my country a school book would defenestrate jews and christiand the same way in many muslim countries this is done, i would go to jail too, not only if i laughed about holocaust...and you should also thank that you are enjoying this freedom of speech as you have in italy, cos if you wrote the same you did to me to your beloved dictator in Lybia, your bones would be the ones rotting in jail, not mine. Moderate islaam has to stand against extremism, with no excuses, the same way i stand against extremist christianism and judaism...but or you're too coward or too blind to see that the ones who have more to loose are the moderate muslims, like you I presume. When god becomes more important than your fellow humans, then something is going very wrong with that religion, and basta...you can enjoy reading and posting in an israeli newspaper totally freely while your fellows in iran can't even access information who has not been filtered by the ayatollah's...so it's just a matter of choice...what lyfestyle do you prefer, irani or italian? lybian or french? saudi arabian or danish? pakistani or german? ...and by the way, israelis themselves make lots of jokes about the holocaust...and thou this jokes are incredibly unrespectful, you won't see anyone burning or firing in the air, walls or whatsoever...this is the difference my friend, a big one. Have a nice day man...peace and love. אהבה ושלום
23. ...by the way
Jordi Gomis ,   Barcelona, Catalunya   (02.03.06)
mani americans preaching for freedom of speech here...well, i don't think your country can be very representative on that, not with Bush in power at least...you're one of the biggest responsibles (irresponsibles i should say) over the situation in this world...peace can't be imposed, nor democracy...Bin Laden, Saddam, Noriega, Pinochet, Franco, Marcos in Philippines...they are all the sons of your arrogance...we all need to change, not just the muslims (those need a huge change thou). That's it....have a nice day everyone.
25. to 19
Jordi Gomis ,   Barcelona, Catalunya   (02.03.06)
...listen, take some lessons from the Lybian Guy and talk...i might not agree with him, but he talks....not like you, barking like a mad dog...if from 20 lines, you only understand 1, it's not strange you missinterpret the quram... the moron wishes you a nice day
26. #7 Khalid
Jane   (02.03.06)
Glad you're appreciative. So, Khalid, when are your Imams going to condemn the rampant publication of anti-Semitic cartoons in government sanctioned Arab newspapers and anti-Semitic miniseries broadcast throughout the Islamic world during Ramadan?
27. Libyan Guy
Jane   (02.03.06)
Listen, Mister Muslim representative, you and your people publish and televise Anti-Semitic crap ALL THE TIME in ALL YOUR COUNTRIES. So shut up and eat it.
28. Saint Andrew
Jane   (02.03.06)
Right on!!!!!!!!
29. Jordi ...
Libyan guy ,   Italy   (02.03.06)
Thanks for your clear position and i like your way in expressing your self. I can agree and disagree on many points with you but i advise you to read some good books about Islam and our prophet. You shall discover that when in europe people died because of illness and starvation, we brought the hope and being in spain will be the biggest proof for that and what arab left. nothing personal but the world is a dirty place where we do so much bad stuff under certain freedom that has no meaning. Also for me being in Italy and not in my home land, i must thank the arrogant Americans and say you are crap and freedom is just a way to gain money ... the maddog of yesterday is the wise guy today and what about us ??? the same situation, so you see that its hard for us but at least we tried the both and would advise many the same to learn that freedom of speech is always responsibility towards respecting others. nothing prsonal but thank you for your constructive statments. may good, allah or whatever give us peace and happiness for our short stay in this life. salam ... shalom ... peace on all.
30. Jane
Libyan Guy ,   Italy   (02.03.06)
See jane, this is the diffrence, we lost so much that now you are asking us to die and in silence .... poor jane. Go and learn some history and understand what is Islam about, as you seam to be an angel but its the sence of superiority that will crush you in the end ... please remind me when did we say, write or do something bad agaiest your prophet ? well when going into our religion, we are not allowed to even think badlly about any of gods prophet, what about you, when you put the Koran on the back of a doncky or a pig by some monkey jewish settler ??? really bad bad so bad but you can hide you ugly face when you look into the mirror. gooood night honey.
