1. You can't be an Israeli if you apologize. They never do.( shouldn't generalize though, I know) 2. Get the feeling that you don't live in Israel any more.3. No problem that you disagree, and I too believe that we women will bring the Ge'ulah, but by behaving like women, and certainly not by copying the men and joining them in all they do. They were all kids there, and the boys' fathers' should have been there with them, not little girls. I noticed there were no young mothers with baby buggies, as there usually are, which shows that the mothers ( we mothers always know) knew there would be violence. I rest my case. You sound a very young man and I wish you well.
32. Im not pro-settler but I wouldnt be suprised if this is true
(02.07.06)
Most of the policemen are usually analphbetic arsim who never finished or possibly never went to highschool.
33. #32 - I can agree with you on the cops
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (02.07.06)
I've seen how they have handled other women at demonstations (so what did these girls expect, that they would be treated differently), but to use their own language, they were acting immodestly, and what could they expect in return? Also, might they be using this angle as a hook to get support from sectors that usually don't support them? Sectors that they, the settler girls don't support and even openly condem?
34. #20 - YOU are the disgrace!
Chaya ,   Israel   (02.07.06)
How DARE you criticize these girls! They were the victims of a Cossack-like assault! They never expected this to happen to them. I hope you don't have any daughters cause I pity them if you do.
35. Hi #34
Agree with#20 ,   Rehavia J'm   (02.07.06)
"Ok girls off you go, we know the disgusting and dangerous reputation the police have, but off you go dear, no sweetie, I'm not coming with you.Enjoy yourselves I'll watch out for you on TV" Love Imma/Safta Chaya
36. Why were they there in the first place?
Karen R ,   Maryland   (02.07.06)
Why were teenage girls in the middle of a confrontation which everyone knew was going to be violent? How could their parents allow them to go? Who were the other adults who encouraged them? Yes, there are criminals here - the parents, the rabbis and the teachers. No Jewish daughter should be placed in the front of police horses by the very people who are supposed to protect her. The brave and courageous settler leaders are hiding behind the skirts of young girls. They are afraid to face the horses themselves, afraid of the "inconvenience" of being arrested for their beliefs, so they send young girls (and young boys) to fight on their behalf. Where are their guts, their manly courage, that they send girls to fight for them?

40. Brave settler leaders hiding behind girls' skirts
Karen R ,   Maryland   (02.07.06)
Where are the brave leaders of the settler movement when teenage girls are facing horse charges and teenage boys are hurling cinder blocks at police in riot gear swinging batons? Why did we not see Levinger and Wallerstein themselve out there in front of the horses, risking their own precious selves for the sacred cause? Why are they hiding behind the skirts of the girls they are sending into danger? Do they think that their own bodies are too sacred to risk, that being arrested themselves would be a setback for the movement, taht sitting in jail themselves would be too inconvenient? Or were they just hoping that one of those girls would get seriously injured, that they would then have a gold mine of positive publicity? That the police would hesitate to arrrest children? Do they really care, or are they just using these girls and boys as pawns in their own effort to achieve a "State of Judea" - with themselves the ones in charge? Where are these brave and manly leaders when the danger is real?
41. The comments that BLAME VICTIMS INSTEAD OF the VICTIMIZERS!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (02.07.06)
Around the world, women and girls of different religions and cultures, take part in peaceful protests. Their participation is respected and appreciated. It is normal to stand up for human rights. It is abnormal NOT to do so! A nation's army is supposed to protect its citizens, not go to war against patriotic peaceful demonstrators! A nation's police are supposed to protect citizens from murderers, thieves and thugs. The IDF and Israeli police shocked the world with their violence as they literally went to war against peaceful Jewish protesters, in savage physical, and even sexual assaults, upon Jewish children.
42. THE SAME WAY AS I CONDEM
LOLO ,   ISRAEL   (02.07.06)
PALESTINANS FOR ALLOWING THEIR CHILDREN TO THROW STONES I ALSO HAVE TO ASK MY-SELF WHY DO THE RELIGIOUS DEMONSTRAITORS US THEIR CHILDREN IN THIS WAY I WOULD LOCK MY CHILD IN A ROOM BEFORE I TAKE THE CHANCE SHE WOULD BE HURT . AND PLEASE DONT INSULT BY SAYING IT GOT OUT OF HAND WE DIDNT KNOW IT WOULD GO THIS FAR YOU ALL CAME PREPARED SHAME ON YOU
43. to Linda & #31
Yisraeli   (02.07.06)
Linda is right re blaming the victims instead of the victimisers. Reminds me of the defense council in a rape trial to the victim on the stand. Why were you walking down that street? You went looking for it didnt you? Your clothes are too tight so its only natural for a man to be aroused etc. etc. There was no such violence in Gush Katif the protesters at Amona had no reason to expect the kind of violence from the police as they did. Their presence there was meant as a peaceful process and its totally unfair to blame them because of the disgraceful behaviour of those who were meant to protect civilians. But I suspect these yassamnikim are mostly goyim especially created for the purpose whose cossack anti Jew like behaviour comes very natural to them. In fact I have heard russian was heard spoken amongst them. To #31. To apologise is never beneath me and certainly not for my content but perhaps its harshness. And perhaps being an english gentleman b'makor enables me too in the first place. V'gam yisraeli how else could I have served in tzahal. Am hardly young any more am 50yo and right I am no longer in israel. I simply cannot live in the country I so loved, served and ready to die for, this has long not been the Israel I know and love, but some perverse distorted version. But as you can see I still care deeply why else would I bother making my comments here. Shalom Shalom.
44. Convinced They Sexually Harassed These Girls
Adina kutnicki ,   US   (02.08.06)
These storm forces are operating as if on steroids, or as if they have had frontal lobotomies. ALL red lines were crossed in Amona by the security forces. The police are now the actual and symbolic enemy of religious zionists. They have set the stage for a show down. Olmert, take a bow! On the other hand, the fact that they have turned on their own people means that the zionists do not have to "obey" their orders. Who in their right (no pun intended) mind would willingly cooperate with their tormentors? I have no doubt that these thugs molested these girls, either through gratuitous groping, or through verbal threats. I am also sure that when they arrest Arab girl suspects that they are dictated from the political regime to treat them with the utmost respect. Haven't you noticed the way the Israeli police always look almost deferential in pictures when escorting Arab suspects? In fact, their subservient demeanor is downright sickening. However, with religious and nationalist Jews they become all macho-like, as if they are overdosed on testosterone as if to say, "look I'll show those yids". Next time, pay close attention to their body language and expressions when escorting Barghouti in particular. Then they behave like lemmings.
45. Luxury of judging from overseas
Toshav Ha'aretz ,   Israel   (02.08.06)
Problem is, that unlike the readers overseas, who scream 'Victims", to us here these girls are our daughters, sisters, granddaughters, cousins etc. We dont have the luxury of lumping them together as nameless victims, therefore the responsibility lies with us as the parents and educators, to keep these precious girls away from these police thugs, and not allow them to become political punch balls. Unless maybe, dirty politics are more important than (y)our daughters? I hope not.
46.  to#34 the uninvolved spectator
Gush Etzion   (02.08.06)
Calling them "these girls"? Why not '''our girls"? Because you're an onlooker, sort of living here probably, but more in the El Al lounge at the airport than here. You judge 'situations', and probably quite vocally, sounding off in the airport lounge too, if you unfortunately speak as loudly as you write . Pity on the waiting passengers but we forgive you...Just calm down a little and enjoy our country when you're here, which is a lot of the time, I'm sure.
