1. so......
(02.14.06)
Hala who likes to travel between Paris and Beirout......yeah right, wonder which people you met??? Anyway maybe next time you should visit the South of Lebanon, where Hizbollah is terrorizing the Israeli/Libanese border.... Disco or not, Libanon is still a primitive country terrorized by Hizbollah and Syria....nothing changed...just look at the pics of the violent demonstrations against European Embassies....get real Ray
2. I look for the day when we can travel to Damascus and Beirut
Palestinian ,   Palestine   (02.14.06)
without these fake borders. I look forward to be united with them again. After all these thousands of years of mingling. We are them. And they are us. We are for what they are. And they are for what we are. We feel pain for what they suffer, and they suffer for our pain. I ask the God of all universes to bring us back all together.
3. #2 Your whole existence and identity
Roger ,   USA   (02.14.06)
are based on dreams because when you dream you cannot face the ugly reality you created for yourself.
4. Hey Ray, can you please use your power
Bill ,   USA   (02.14.06)
and tell your Arab brothers claiming to be Palestinian that the 22 Arab states are much better than the Jewish Zionist democracy and they should get out of Israel ASAP. Lebanon is indeed beautiful/.The Lebanese are looking forward to accepting all Arabs who define themselves Palestinian.
5. Please, Ray, enough ignorance
Donny ,   USA   (02.14.06)
Lebanon is a powder keg with a very bloody history. As the Maronite Christians are leaving the country for the US or France Lebanon will fail. The Maronite Christians are very cultured and smart but they cannot live in a country that is going down and down.
6. #2
Daniel ,   Sweden   (02.14.06)
"We are them. And they are us. " Are you Arab or Palestinian? Make up your mind already. You can't switch from day to day. Maybe if you chose peace instead of terror you wouldn't suffer from pain? Do you really think the feelings are mutual by the Lebanese? I'm sure they had enough of warmongers. Try Iran, maybe better luck there?
7. Here we go again...
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (02.14.06)
Ray now calls the cartoons "racist"!! Where am I: on another planet!!? The cartoon mocked Islam. IS ISLAM A RACE!?! Ray, I'm rapidly losing the respect and admiration I had for you with these illogical and bombastic claims you've been making in the past week. And "Denmark’s 6th floor embassy remain undamaged" but not for lack of trying to damage it, that's for sure.
8. Lebanon
Elliott ,   Tel Aviv   (02.14.06)
"The Lebanese seem fearless in refusing to surrender to the face of fanaticism and violence that confronts them everyday." Interesting how you speak of this fearlessness as if it's something the Israeli should learn about. Memo to Ray: we've been going to clubs and discos in the face of fear for a hell of a long time too. We've stood up to the fear of being blown to bits while enjoying a beer at a nightclub. The source of our fear has been the palestinians. Don't tell us to learn from ANYONE when it comes to living fearlessly. We've learned plenty, and can teach the world a thing or two about it, thanks to our so-called 'neighbors'.
9. ypur point wasnt achieved
michal ,   israel   (02.14.06)
i read about the daily-life in beruit, which not example for all levanon, but very similar to all israel. except to the violnce to the people on racim. as jew, i feel it all over the world, but dont think to burn and destroy. by the way, the racim come from the arabs world too...
10. Ray only spoke to English speakers that could afford tickets
mike ,   TA   (02.14.06)
11. Mr. Hanania
Yoel ,   Israel   (02.14.06)
http://www.israelnewsagency.com/bluesbythebeachisraelmikesplace385551.html Don't you dare talk about courage sir. Your moral equivalences time and time again are without merit and frankly not welcomed.
12. Hey, Hanania, did you meet any Hizbulah
Jorge ,   Tegucigalpa   (02.14.06)
Hanania, you are full of s.........., did you go to any Hizbulah neihgborhood, I WONDER IF THEY ARE EASY GOING, and are not planing on destroying Israel following the orders of their masters in Syria and Iran, and also planing of geting rid of Christians, since they are a remainder of civility, If Lebanon was the part you saw, your trips was like Alice"s in wonderland, and that, is a fairy tale
13. Ray understands Lebanon
Ann ,   USA   (02.14.06)
as much as he understands rocket science. Stick to your Arab comedy, Ray.
14. Interesting, and not what my Lebanese Christian friends say
David Landman ,   Natick, USA   (02.14.06)
I just spoke to a friend of mine from the Lebanese Christian community in Houston. I think they number several thousand there. He said Christian life in Lebanon is ending. He doesnt trust the Druze or Muslim Arabs. Personally, I have never been there, but I have alot of respect for my friend. If he thinks life in Lebanon is hopeless for the Christians I tend to believe him. He does have some hope and still loves to visit, but with the Muslim Arabs and Druze there is no hope. As for standing up to dispair? Thats what Israel has had to endure for thousands of years. The last hundred is just the latest enemy looking to destroy us. Israel is the greatest. Jews can bounce back from anything and grow. Israel is the land of milk and honey. Jews made the desert bloom. There is eternal hope in Israel, but people arent oblivious to the reality that there is no peace partner.
15. Hope in one hand, and &@#% in the other
Yoel Ariel ,   Ft.Laud,Fl(USA)   (02.14.06)
Damn, Damn, Damn!!! Where are they? They were here just a moment ago. You can *never* find those Ruby Slippers when you want them.
16. #2
Jane   (02.14.06)
So go. They are you and you are them. Leave us alone. We are us and we are not you.
17. RAY..HOPE IS..(pass it along)

19. Ray TelAviv is also.....
Barak   (02.14.06)
....full of clubs and restaurants packed with people So is Yerushalayim and eilat you make it sound like its all bad here This is a regular tourist problem here: people visit historical sites but never see the life here unless they are in their 20s We are optimistic You should be to It takes two to tango - and when one side leads the other has to reciprocate - and when you switch over then the former leader has to reciprocate This is how it goes Lebanese can smile all they want After all its easier to ignore the problems than deal with them. At least we try deal with them. Most of the time it doesnt work, ok, but at least we try and keep trying every so often. Lebanese just sit back and protend like nothing happening and are happy to speak french instead of arabic. This is not life. This is illussion. We have hope, and one day we will fix this, even if it takes generations to do, we will do it, and hopefully we will do it together, us and you.
20. The writers here are right
Mike Haddad ,   New York   (02.15.06)
It sounds like a lot of people on this list are envious of the Lebanese. Tel Aviv as open as Beirut. Please. Beirut is the most hopeful and best real Democracy. Everyone shares in government. Do they in Israel? We have our differences with Hizbullah but we're not trying to steal their land. Envy. It puts new meaning behind Israel's colors of Blue and White. M Haddad
21. Lebanon should recognize Israel
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.15.06)
Ray, you are lucky. You can go to Lebanon and enjoy the pleasures that it has to offer. We Jews can't go there. If we do go there we will be murdered.
22. good menu no apetite
hala ,   jerusalem   (02.15.06)
this hala from buirut has a good apetite only but the menu is not fine in lebanon nor in israil and palastine ...god bless the soul of my aunte she used to say i am not happy even evry thing is dancing around me salam tant zozo
23. To Mike Hadad
CZ   (02.15.06)
You sir are living in a dream world "Beirut is the most hopeful and best real Democracy." No real democracy exists when there are foreign terrorist groups like Hizbollah in the government. Also, a real democracy is not one that lets the same terrorist group control part of their country and run a state within a state. No, I'm sorry but Israel has never or will never be jealous of a state that is due to implode at any time.
24. Good food in Israel?
Ray Hanania ,   Chicago, IL USA   (02.15.06)
I hate to say this but I didn't find too many great restaurants while I was in Israel on my last trip. Even the Italian restaurant downtown next to the Knesset really didn't offer great Italian food. This isn't a political statement, but I think most Israelis might agree with me that Israel needs more better restaurants. Now, we can talk about eating fast food Middle East foods like falafel, etc., but I wouldn't go there to eat Sushi ... I did get decent fish in Caesaria at the restaurant overlooking the beach ... Ray "Not a food critic" Hanania www.hanania.com AND PS to #20 ... I'm used to the criticism. People here scream first and then ask questions later :) ... But that's okay. People who are happy and love don't spend much time thanking anyone ... I'm not sure if it is envy as much as it is the typical knee-jerk reaction of some extremists to anything ...
25. Try that Indian place in Caesaria its pretty good tandoori
(02.16.06)
26. Now that we know the sixth floor wasn't damaged,
(02.16.06)
Ray can take the Lebanese fire bombers up there to finish the Danes off. Since they are rascists and all. Did all the Danes send in Muslim cartoons offending Allah Ray? Or are you just generalizing everyones rascist tendencies, while ignoring the Muslim fire bombing rascists, that you so admire? Tell them some jokes about how a hundred Danes who went for assistance in their embassy, unfortunately found out that the building was a Danish holocaust oven. Danish pastries anyone?
28. Make up your mind, Ray
Pat ,   Montgomery, USA   (02.16.06)
Ray writes "the Lebanese... don’t seem to be judgmental." Later, he writes, "Everybody, it seems... are judgmental..." Why Ynet continues to treat this guy as a serious contributor is beyond me. He is a professional comedian. Even his grammar ("everybody... are..." ) is amateurish. I normally don't engage in ad homonim attacks (Kill the Messenger), but, this guy has nothing to offer beyond shallow opinion and anger... lots of anger.
29. Ray makes bad equivalents
Lois D. ,   Baltimore, MD.   (02.19.06)
There's no equivalent between the oppressor and the oppressed, but it somehow slipped Ray's mind that Palestinians live under Israel's occupation and not the other way round, and that they are the oppressed people, and not the other way round. Always surprising that Ray needs an education about his own people and their suffering, although in other newspapers, he has spoken with a different volice. I guess what he says all depends on who the majority of his audience is, which does not give him too much credibility.
