3. Paradise now is an Israeli film
(02.15.06)
Hani Abu-Assad is an Israeli from Nazarth, Nashef Kayes is an Israeli from Tel Aviv, most of the actors are also Arab-Israeli, most of the film was shot in Nazarth because of security measures, the funding is European and American, the Producer is a Jewish (even though his relevance to the matter is questionable) Israeli.
4. Unequal Equation
Karim ,   Palestine   (02.15.06)
Israel has been making all possible efforts to force the international community to stand agianst hamas because it doesn't recognize the state of israel, and now we read that israeli government and jewish groups are against Oscar's Academy saying Palestine !!! this is unfair, its time for you to accept it the same way we accepted it
5. Get Paradise Now off the Oscars
Enough propaganda   (02.15.06)
Get Paradise Now off the Oscars The Revoke the "Paradise Now" Oscar Nomination Petition is red hot, averaging well over a thousand signatures a day, and increasing speed. The revulsion being felt around the world over Hollywood's nomination of "Paradise Now", a movie glorifying PLO suicide bombers, is palpable. It is galvanizing opposition and spurring decent people of all backgrounds to action to right this tremendous wrong. This petition is a UNIFIER. If you have not already signed, please do so. http://www.petitiononline.com/060201/petition.html And please pass this on. Thanks.
6. Paradise Now
Aaron ,   Jerusalem   (02.15.06)
It would sure be a shame if this movie wins the Oscar. In any case Palestine is not an independent country yet.
7. Jordan is Palestine. The film is from Israel.
David Landman ,   Natick, MA, USA   (02.16.06)
Oscars shouldnt make up places that dont exist. Thats OK in movies, but not recognition. Its bad enough that Arab Nazism has erased Israel from maps, considering it is an international country and has more right to exist than most Arab countries. Bottom line. Palestine has never existed as a country and for the Oscars to make up such a place is wrong and reflects appeasement o lies.
8. watch out he holds that microphone like a bomb!
hanina ,   usa   (02.16.06)
Hey, Let's also make a movie interviewing serial rapist, murderers, theives and pornography starlets. Let's see how their daily lives churn our hearts and make us realize their chosen profession. Hey, we all need independence from a reality check now and then. Darth Vader, what would you say? "Yes I have chosen to be evil because it's cool with the chicks and I just look better in black."
9. HELL NOT PARADISE
DEBRA ,   USA   (02.16.06)
THIS MOVIE GLORIFIES EVIL.
10. "Palestine" and "Palestinians" were created by the Plo.

For the sole purpose of stealing the Jewish homeland. http://www.sullivan-county.com/id3/palestine.htm

How does this show that Israel is insecure? The article says they have not contacted the academy, so where is their insecurity? It is the academy that is debating how to say where the film came from. In my opinion, it is cut and dried; no Palestinian state has been established, therefore, it comes from the PA. It's propogandists like you that would like to say it came from 'Palestine' when such a place does not currently exist.

Karim, your argument is silly. Israel currently exists and Hamas wants it destroyed. This is the opposite of create, which is the Palestinian state that the 'palestinians' are looking to do. You can't deny something that already exists and pretend something is there, when it doesn't exist (even if it might in the future). Your argument is irrelevant.
13. I don't get it, what's the big deal??
Confused   (02.16.06)
Why do you people mind if they said it came from Palestine?? Who cares? Personally, I'm Palestinian and it would make NO difference to me if the Academy awarded it as coming from Palestinian Authority, for me that would just sound silly because of how it would sound: (From the Palestinian Authority???) but besides that I don't really care. Curios question: If the film was made in the Congo by someone from there, but was presented as being from Zaire (Former name of the Congo) would you people go through all this trouble to get the name corrected??
14. Read for yourself:
Khalid ,   Halifax   (02.16.06)
Not taking sides, just thought you guys would want to read what the actor has to say for himself. Even if you absolutely hate the film or what it stands for, it's only logical to hear each side of every story. (That is, afterall, why I read Ynet) http://hotzone.yahoo.com/b/hotzone/blogs2572;_ylt=Ao4dfO1XR_JXhlDDkKCUSaSLFMsF;_ylu=X3oDMTBjZzJsamRkBHNlYwNibG9nLWVudA--
15. What is the Arab pride capable of producing
Roger ,   USA   (02.16.06)
the movies about the Palestinian suicide bombers.

You are something else. It's something to be real proud of. Paridise Now is a slimey antiIsrael propaganda movie. It has no business iin the running for the Academy Award. It was shameful that it won the Golden Globes. It just goes to show what the left wing Hollywood crowd really is. I for one will not give any of my money to them any more.
17. The director is Dutch also!
moi ,   TA   (02.19.06)
Dutch-Palestinian filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad......he is also Dutch, so maybe we should give all the credit to the director from the |Netherlands, so nobody will get upset....fine with me, I'm Dutch and Israeli.... If Palestine isn't a country yet, so why does its citizens have a Palestinian passport and can travel with it??? i don't get it....whats all the fuss about...you don't like this movie, then don't watch it.....
