Wow, what a relief Israel is allowed to respond if attacked by Iran. Thank you US, I sleep much better now.... We Israelies are not afraid of nothing, we decide how to react and maybe we won't wait until it is too late...

6. Inevitable crisis?
Josh ,   Jerusalem   (02.19.06)
For all those who think it's that simple, don't kid yourselves. If the US attacks Iran's nuclear sites, Iran has two options: 1) Unconditional surrender 2) Retaliation Of course we would like to think that Iran will take the rational option, not risk a full-blown American attack, and surrender. But there's only one problem; the clown that's running the country isn't a rational thinker. There's a good chance he will retaliate, but not by sending missiles to the US. He has a much closer, smaller, more vulnerable target. Regular ballistic missiles are defensable and survivable, but a few chemical/biological warheads and the Zionist dream is over, and by Iran not directly attacking the US, we may find ourselves searching for our "ally" in the dark.
7. for a change ,maybe the saudis are right!

10. HOPEFULLY, IDF POISED TO RETALIATE WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE
GIDEON ,   GOLDEN CITY, USA   (02.19.06)
the iranians have already sworn strikes on Israel if attacked by anyone, hezbollah won't be able to contain themselves and the IDF will be forced to respond with a heavy hand and a strong fist. if Iran dares to fire on Israel, iran can expect major reprocusions
11. So maybe there will be peace in the region
(02.19.06)
Yes, Iran might attack Israel soon. This is not a joke, but we'll have to take this into consideration as well. Thanks for the info.
12. Great plan...
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (02.19.06)
...but I fear nothing will come of it. My gut instinct tells me these stories are inserted into the media in order to exert pressure on Iran and that no real intention is behind them. I hope I'm wrong. I also hope the US' plans include methods aimed at minimizing civilian casualties.
13. Terrorist "leaders" are impotent
Mark ,   USA   (02.19.06)
For the last 40 years we've been listening incessantly to the so-called leaders of Middle Eastern countries threaten the World up one side and down the other as if they are 'somebody', they are nothing. All they have ever been is a bunch of impotent, murderous criminals. Bored with buggering boys, beating and beheading those who know better than to be befuddled by their ridiculous mantra, the idiots now are deluded to fantasize that they can intimidate those they don't have a chance in hell scaring. America dealt effectively with another group of 'brains with appendages' who went on a suicidal rampage in the belief they could overwhelm us, the Japanese. They finally caused us enough pain and sadness that we returned the favor. Just as the Germans finally discovered the pain, sorrow and defeat that following the delusions of racist thieves brough down upon themselves, so will Middle Easterners. They have begged for the pain, it is incumbent upon us to shower them with it. The US military has had a horrible track record as of the past few decades of doing the prudent thing. but hopefully soon Qom will look like Dresden once did and the rabid rag-headed idiots of Iran and elsewhere will be crying at us from the inside of their dog-caged' cribs at the tip of Cuba where Castro can stand on the other side of OUR fence and console them. If the goons in your neighborhood make the mistake may the iron fist of Zion fall fast and hard on their heads and remind the Jordanians and Egyptians why it was in their best interest to feign peace ..... until a time comes when the Moslem street prefers peace over "missing every opportunity to miss every opportunity". That will only come when the Israelites can forgive and move forward also.
14. To: Josh in Jerusalem
Hans ,   USA   (02.19.06)
Josh, take heart, my friend. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has His hand upon the State of Israel... the apple of His eye. Nothing will happen to Israel without God allowing it. Has Israel not learned that from it's history? 1948, 1967, 1973 et al. God always wins... But, one thing Israel lacks... and that is recognition of your Messiah, Yeshua Hama Shiach. As a Chrisian living in the USA, I can't say that I'm behind Bush... but, I am behind God... and He is behind Israel!
15. USA will NOT respond with a "full blown assault"
Hans ,   USA   (02.19.06)
A "full blown US assault" would include the launching of hundreds of ICBMs. For reference, 1 single ICBM can carry upwards of 20 individually-targeted nuclear warheads. The US could destroy the entire known world, if it wanted. But, what type of world would be left? Certainly not any world that I would want myself or my family to live in. Now, if Iran, or anyone, responds to us with nukes... you better believe that that country just signed the death warrant to every city it has.
16. This stinks of .....
hiram ,   tel aviv   (02.19.06)
...disinformation ! a so called article published in a Saudi Newspaper does not necesarily means that the " leak " is true...How convenient that it could be : -It is not a direct menace from the US, but conveniently leaked from a pro US country. -It does not bring The US and IRAN In a direct clash -It provides the international community with a false sense of security.. The US will NEVER take a chance in anything that could trigger nucelar incident in which civil population would also be a victim. I would think that this is WISHFUL thinking or a " clever" way to tel IRAN through th SAudis that the military option is NOT exlcuded.....but not excluded does not mean that it will take place. This is so simple that it has probably the signature of CIA or NSA or even both...and like ALL of the plans devised by the CIA ( I am not sure the word Intelligence is meant by the second letter ) is doomed to fail by the time it is ...timely published.. Whn one want to strike, one does not publish strike information...As simple as that ...Yankees blowing hot air to answer to Islamic agitation !
17. State Dept pretensiousness
Jacob ,   Chicago   (02.19.06)
18. we have blundered already
jf ,   nashville   (02.19.06)
we missed our best opportunity already. If I had been running things,I would have commanded our troops to wage war on Iran after having taken Iraq....all the nation building crap in Iraq was a waste of time....we should have moved on to the next target...we should have bombed iran into the stone age...then marched them back to the real threat hiding in Pakistan's territories....as we left each country in ruins we should have left them with the message that we could come back at anytime if necessary. Both Israel and America needs to harden our hearts and destroy All of these people without mercy.
19. Timing of Iran strikes
Laura   (02.19.06)
Hmm, this sounds like the strikes on Iran will be well-timed for the mid-term Congressional elections here in the U.S., where the president's party is currently trailing in the polls. Now don't get me wrong, I believe we need to strike Iran, but I can't help noticing that every action the Bush administration takes appears to be timed to most benefit it politically. I can't help but notice this administration puts politics ahead of national security.
20. There will be many deaths and the Shia in Iraq
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.19.06)
will switch to helping the Iranian regime. If anyone really believes George Bush is bluffing, well, you're misguided. Iraq was a grade school mess. This attack will make the whole Mid East boil over. Just miss our american troops with your nukes please. They have been trained to go around the blasts, out of the downwind radiation. These jerk offs will send missiles into Israel. It's the last chance they have of doing so. And when Israel responds, they hope to bring the other Arab countries into the mix. Iran has a new fatwah to nuke the United States. They sealed the deal by making it official. We'll deal with the trash. We've become good at taking it out. I used to believe we wouldn't fight another World War. How naive we've all been. Necessity breeds conflict. Sometimes you have to cull the screwed up humans, as well as the chickens.
21. Why the hooplah?
Avi   (02.19.06)
Since my friends and family don't live in Tel Avi o r Haifa, none of out opinions count, supposedly. The land means nothing. With that presumption, the big secular cities really don't mean anything either. Heck, just leave already. Hey, Dimona isn't on the coastal plain, so sacrifice that. Jordan valley? Meaningless. Yehuda, Shomron? Meaningless, too apparently. So what are you so worried about the few square miles you're not willing to give up right away? It'll either be a matter of a decade or two, or right away. Even more, I hope everyone will enjoy smug contentment knowing they "don't have to fight anymore" - it'll all be gone. So stop the chest beating and sabre rattling. Just leave already. Leave Eretz Yisael to jews who care about it - or stop being duplicitous and defend the medina - ALL of it.
22. ACHMADINEDJAD

WHY WAIT FOR 2007. SURELY THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE WHO COULD PUT `1 BULLET IN HIS HEAD. AFTER THAT LET'S SEE WHO TAKES HIS PLACE.
23. Since Steiner agreed : Bush has the green light
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (02.19.06)
all Bush needs now; for Steiner to enlist, since without that military genie...... nobody will be able to get it done What a mamzer !!!!

Just a question, if you're so for israel - believing in the same god and all the stuff, why not being jewish?
25. Talky, Talk...Just Talk and No Action
Joe Levi ,   Los Angeles. USA   (02.20.06)
I almost cried when I read this article. What will the pinko, commie leftists in the US and London say to all this? First we get rid of the Serbs, then the Taliban, and then Saddam, thus freeing tens of millions of Muslims. Now perhaps, another 75m believes in Allah will be set free, thanks to US lives and expenditures. And oh I forgot, Israel can be expected to take out Tehran if Shihab Missiles loaded with BC warheads hit Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa. (Hopefully the Jews of Iran will ahve left beforehand, or remain hostages as expected). I say, let's get on with it, the sooner the better. Why wait until 2007? Now is the time to strike a blow for freedom. Let's get rid of the mad mullahs now, and really create a Holocaust, with them, not US. And while we are at it, hows about Assad in Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Why forget them? A few B-1s should pluck their feathers.
26. 2007 ??
Yakir   (02.20.06)
I was so happy of hearing that it'll be in march 2006... d'oh! Some inner voice tells me to move back to israel, not too fast, but for sure in the next time... Gabrielle, you come too? ;-)
27. Brainwashing has a cost, no nukes and they die.

28. Response to "why not be Jewish"
Hans ,   USA   (02.20.06)
Hello, my friend. First of all, it is important to note that I was born a gentile, not a Jew. But, I guess you are asking why I don't convert to Judaism? Judaism does not recognize Yeshua as their Messiah. Yeshua fulfilled the Messianic prophecies in the Tanach, but the Jews largely rejected Him. The prophet Isaiah said that this would happen: " He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. -- Is 53:3-4. The Scriptures foretold that Yeshua would be rejected... and that He would then go to the gentiles with salvation: And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God. -- Hosea 2:23. The Jews sought righteousness by adherence to the Law (Mosaic Law), but the promise was, and has always been, by FAITH. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. -- Genesis 15:6 Righteousness never came by the Law. Abraham was justified for BELIEVING in God, not for strict adherence to the Law. And, this is the "stumbling block" that the Jews have stumbled upon: Psa 118:22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. Isa 8:14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I share this in love with all Jewish hearers, and I understand that some take these words as hostile. But, it pains me that we Christians so CLEARLY have been given the revelation of God, while the Jews have been blinded. For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. Isa 6:9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. God is using the gentiles to provoke the Jews to jealousy. Deu 32:21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. I could go on and on with the passages from the Hebrew Tanach. Unfortunately, the Scriptures declare that the Jews rejected Yeshua, their Messiah, but they will receive a false-Messiah. This false-Messiah spoken of in the book of Daniel, will arrange a 7 year peace treaty (1 week) with Israel and her neighbors. He will facilitate the rebuilding of the 3rd Temple and the reinstitution of the sacrifice. But, in the middle of the 7 year period (the week) he will break the treaty and cause a cessation of the sacrifice. He will then set up his own image in the holiest place and declare himself as god and to be worshipped as god. It is my prayer that all Jewish people reading this will remember these words... for the time is near. The 3rd temple is even getting ready to be rebuilt NOW. If you don't believe the things I am telling you, you will at least believe them when you see the things that I have described begin to occur. It is all plainly spelled out in the Scriptures. If anyone would like to talk to me about this you can email me at doulos86@yahoo.com.
29. SMASH IRAN TO SMITHEREENS!
DEBRA ,   USA   (02.20.06)
BUSH SAID RECENTLY THAT 9/11"WAS TATOOED ON HIS BRAIN." HE ALSO SAID IT WAS NOT GOING TO BE ALLOWED THAT IRAN BECOME NUCLEAR UNDER HIS ADMININSTRATION. AND THAT HE WOULD NOT LEAVE THE WHITE HOUSE WITH A NUCLEAR IRAN LEFT BEHIND HIM. I BELIEVE BUSH UNDERSTANDS ISLAMIC TERROR AND HE WILL SMASH IRAN TO SMITHEREENS! GO USA! GO ISRAEL!
30. Other factors being considered?
Spunkalunk   (02.21.06)
(Ok constantly I joke that the minute i pass the 4th actuarial exam I'm off to HK! Albeit it's starting to sound like the safest place to be.) Are we truly expecting Russia to idly sit back and watch their investment go up in a mushroom cloud/s? If Russia jumps in then are we to expect their greatest ally to simply grab a bowl of popcorn? WWIII will not only consist of the greatest (known/acknowledged) super-power (USA). We maybe be singing a different tune when we wind up at war against an actual formidable opponent. Personally speaking (back to my joke) I'd rather be on the same side as 2/3 of the world and not against it. (China) To all the war-drumming-Christians, becareful what you ask for & WWJD Due to the above I'm hoping & praying that (since another war is inevitable) that a big show is not made over it. (In vain plead) PLEASE, PLEASE let it just be another Kosovo. (quick, clean, no loss of life)
