1. Not a terror org?
howard ,   pacific coast, usa   (02.20.06)
I see. So Russia does not consider blowing up shopping malls and restaurants full of civilians to be a terrorist act. Hypocrits.
2. The morals of Russian Law !!!!
Hiram ,   tel aviv   (02.20.06)
Everyone knows about how " moral" the russian law(s) is. In the hand of a former KGB member, anything/everything can be twisted to fit the day's marching order. Meeting "junior members" of Hamas does not mean a thing....Putin will indeed meet with ALL members of the delegation if not officially, it will be done officiously. Putin is indeed dying to appear as the person bringing a change in Hamas attitude and is ready to fund Gaza and the territories just for egos's sake and retrieving russian involvement in the Middle East like in the best days of the cold war. Putin is NOT ( and has never been ) a pro- european. and is certainly " friend of Israel " only because he has to appear as such. This stinks much more than the "iranian connection".....Beware !
3. Russian Law
Aaron   (02.20.06)
I'd be really interested to see what russian law classifies as terrorism because from my vantage point the Chechens (considered terrorists) are very similar to Hamas... Russia wants to assert power people. Where do you think the Iranian nuclear know-how is coming from? Not from the brainboxes the mullah led schools churn out...but places like Russia, China, Pakistan...the bastions of peace, tolerance, and freedom...not like America and Israel...I mean, they have free elections, rule of law, government accountability and a high standard of living....the horrible bast@rds... how dare they oppose the nuclear development of a country bent on destroying another country in the name of God....
4. Difficulties starting....or the limites of Arba unity !!!
Hiram ,   tel aviv   (02.20.06)
Surprise !!!! The Hamas leadership cancelled a trip to Aman in protest at the Jordanian government’s refusal to welcome Khaled Mashaal in the country, the London-based al-Hayat newspaper reported Monday. Jordanian officials said they would welcome Hamas’s delegation if it is led by Mashaal’s deputy, Moussa Abu Marzouk. (Roee Nahmias)
5. Hamas Terrorists? Wow!
David ,   Karmiel,Israel   (02.20.06)
If the Hamas are not terrorists then the Chechnyan Rebels are the Salvation Army! Why is everyone so surprised at the Russian attitude? Is Russia not the home of the pogrom? Is Russia not the country which imprisoned Zionists like Natan Sharansky? Of course, that was the USSR. So what, a leopard doesn't change his spots. If you are an ant-Semite it does not matter under which flag you hate Jews. The media, CNN, Sky, the BBC and, to a certain extent, Fox News Channel, all use the word "militants" when it comes to Muslim or Islamic terror groups. This is not surprising as Saudi Prince Waleed bin Talal, reputedly the 5th richest man in the world, has large holding in Time-Warner and News Corp. "Covering the riots in Paris last November, Fox ran a banner saying: “Muslim riots.” Bin Talal was not happy. “I picked up the phone and called Murdoch . . . (and told him) these are not Muslim riots, these are riots out of poverty,” he said. “Within 30 minutes, the title was changed from Muslim riots to civil riots.” Quoted from numerous internet sources. Europe and the USA still call Hamas a terrorist organization. Let’s see for how long. Maybe someone should ask Mr. Putin if he would give money to a “government” that calls for the destruction of Russia and the annihilation of its people?
6. chechens not like Hamas
chechen   (02.20.06)
or visa versa! Hamas is fighting (sometimes using terror methods) to liberate part (or all) of a land occupied recently (starting in 1948, then 52, then 67). Chechens are Muslems, who wanted to take advantage of the disentegration and weakness of the former USSR, to establish a state of their own. Two different realities. True both are fighting for self-determination, but the legal and moral standpoint of the Palestinians is much more higher and stronger than that of the Chechens.

hiram ,   tel aviv   (02.20.06)
I am not convinced that one can talke about moral standpoint when refering to the palestinian situation, not knowing that terror organisation , short of having the fighter's courage to attack military targets, have directed their deadly attacks , for years, against innocent civilians.

Andrew ,   Jerusalem   (02.20.06)
So by your definition, if Hamas or whoever targets IDF then such actions are no longer considered terrorism. I do not think so, because the opposite does not apply, second the PR war is one the Pals will always loose.
9. IF TERRORISTS MURDER JEWS,THEY'RE NOT CONSIDERED TERRORISTS?
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (02.20.06)
10. Hamas
Bea ,   Florence,USA   (02.20.06)
Even a young child could figure out that this situation is all about hatred of the Jews not peace Isreal is the Jews land and its only a very small piece given by the British after the Ottoman turks lost it in the war with the British
11. Chechen Hamas difference, why hamas aren't terrorists
Mo   (02.20.06)
Yeah all the stuff you talk about would be considered terrorism: blowing up malls, buses, pubs and whatever. BUT you're acting as if they just do this out of the blue because they like to kill, NOPE! Look at what's happening to the Palestinians. You can't judge terrorism by looking at one side of the story. Is terrorism judged by the number of killed civillians?? If so, I don't think Israel would want to play that game! Remember: a dead civillian in a pub = a dead civillian in an apt building; NO DIFFERENCE!
12. Chechens are not like Hamas
(02.20.06)
Chechens have never called for an establishment of a muslim caliphat from Sibiria to the black sea. Chechens have never called for the extermination of the slavic race. Chechens dont see themselves as the continuers of Hitler and Haj amin al husseini. I could find many differences between the Chechens and the Palestinians, but they dont, they see themselves as a part of the global terror war against the civilized world, and that should worry Putin.

Lorry ,   Israel   (02.20.06)
No difference..... There is a big difference... If Israel targets a terrorist how has killed innocent people just because they are different and killing a busload of innocent people is the same to you. Your thinking is no worse then a terrorist

Mo   (02.20.06)
Listen, that's my whole point. Israel DOES target civillians, whether they say so in the press or not. When you drop a one-tonne bomb (July 2003) on a crowded apartment building in the middle of downtown Gaza, you ARE TARGETING CIVILLIANS, even if there was ONE MAN that you are after in there!! 19 people died that day, 11 of them were CHILDREN. THAT WAS TARGETING CIVILLIANS! You can't be surprised when innocents die in a situation such as that, no matter what they said that is targeting civillians. And that is just one little example, how about the sanctions? the lady that gave birth to her child only to see him die at a checkpoint because IDF soldiers saw her as a "security threat." That is targeting civillians. Palestinian civillians are targeted all the time, how can you possibly believe all Israel is doing is killing terrorists? You are quite naive and EXTREMELY gullible. You'd probably believe the US invaded Iraq because of WMD's too don't you?

Israel should be built somewhere in California :) so there would not be any problems. Rich Jews gathered poor Jews in Israel to be on duty for their wealth keeping. No ideology, guys. I wish you luck in fighting
