1. The people's choice? No peace or OSLO
Steve ,   USA   (02.27.06)
B"H Why should Israel support a corrupt Hamas system within is militarily controlled boundaries? One issue with the Israeli government system is I feel that if I were Israeli, I would be represented in it even less than when I am American as a Jew. What is the point of being represented by a corrupt system? But then again, I have realized that I have one small shred of commonality with the Arabs who claim they are peace-loving in Israel. I mean their problem is far worse, with Hamas claiming to represent their viewpoint, which they say is peaceful and partnering. Hamas represents their viewpoint as "no peace", "no partner", and has tried to gain legitimacy with the last vote to impose its savage self on all Arabs in Israel. If I were a prosperous Arab in Israel, I would consider it a tragedy to put myself under such an unflexible Hamas system, even if I hated Israel, but recognized at least the prosperity in living there! I think that those Arabs who want peace have a big problem: Hamas does not want peace, and it claims to now represent the Arabs living in all of Israel. For peace-claiming Arabs such as Hanania, here is Hamas, trying to represent you "peaceful" Arabs, saying it has been democratically elected by your vote to make the following statements on your behalf against local and regional peace: Quote: "We don't consider the Israeli enemy a partner. By winning the elections, we defeated Israel," he said. "Why should we recognize Israel? Pressure is coming from the United States on us, not from Arab countries," he added.
2. Zahar has " hatred" written all over his face !!!!
hiram ,   tel aviv   (02.27.06)
Is this hatred for the Jews or hatred for the previous PA Government ? Or hatred for the rest of the world who , besides lip service , has not supported the Palestinian cause ? Funnily enough, PA WILL accept humanitarian aid from the US and the EEC....as no one else wants to pitch in... Reading about Palestinian Lawmakers is really something else ! How can Palestinian make ( and apply ) any law ? They are not even able to apply and respect the few ones that they do have right now...
3. Recognize Israel
MinnieB9 ,   Louisiana, USA   (02.27.06)
Why should Hummus recognize Israel? Because it is there. Get with reality. Israel has been there for 2500 years, Saudi Arabia only 200. Have a nice day. Bye now - MinnieB9
4. Why indeed?
Sidney ,   U.S.   (02.27.06)
Why should Israel have anything to do with the PA? They are sworn to destroy Israel on their own schedule. Netanyahu is absolutely right. What is wrong with the Israeli people?
5. hamas
ely ,   usa   (02.27.06)
So be it
6. thanks al-Zahar
jf ,   nashville   (02.27.06)
I know Mahmoud al-Zahar looks like that flying green junk dealer from the Star Wars movie but at least he is saying the same thing in several languages. ALSO, he is saying ALL BETS ARE OFF. I say GOOD! We can stop appeasing everybody and start expelling them. Take back ALL the land and expand it if need be.
7. Mr. Moussa etc. are hypocrites
howard ,   pacific coast, usa   (02.27.06)
On the one hand, they refuse to accept Israel's democratically elected governments (note: 20% of Israelis are non-Jews). Mr. Moussa, etc. refuse to hold real democratic elections in their own countries (I'll exclude Lebanon and Iraq, where the Arab League demonstrably sided with Syria and the Baathists against democratic aspirations, which allowed the terror gangs time to establish a foothold). On the other, they insist that everyone must accept HAMAS, despite its genocidal program. Well, I for one do not accept HAMAS, whose objective is the mass slaughter of an ethnic group or religion. I do not accept the Syrian government, for the same reason. I do not accept the Sudanese government, for the same reason. At the time, I did not accept the Serbian government, for the same reason. Mr. Moussa could not care less about principles. He has principles only when they support his objectives. When will we debate the right of the Sudan or Syria to exist?
8. Congratulations Israel for helping Hamas..
Abdullah ,   Kuwait City   (02.27.06)
win the elections! You stubborn and stiff policies have taught the Palestinian people that in order for them to deal with you they need too to have a stiff and a stubborn government! So enjoy the fruits of your own success in "defeating terror" as you almost always love to refer to it!
9. Abdullah It doesn't make a difference.
(02.27.06)
Were you hoping for the PLO terrorists to win over the Hamas terrorists? At least the Hamas terrorists are less corrupt when they are given money to help their people.
10. Hamas leaders are going to meet their martyr friends.
Rafi ,   Ra'anana   (02.27.06)
The Hamas leaders behave like they are the leaders of a great military power and they can dictate the terms, while actually they are the leaders of a nation with no economic and military power. They stupidly believe that with their flying pipes (Qasssam rockets) they can defeat Israel. I can assure them that they have not yet seen even a tiny might of the Israeli military capabilities. Once they would resort to a new intefada, first of all, they will find themselves very fast with their martyr friends.
11. He holds a certificate for total brain washing.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (02.27.06)
12. Not the way forward??????
john   (02.27.06)
Hamas is certainly an organization that has no real military power and are radical in their thinking. However, there are merrits to their position, though I dont agre with it. 1- They feel that the Palestinian people have strong rights that are being denied to them by Israel. 2- So they feel that there is no need to recognize israel right, because more moderate leaders before them got nothing from Israel, so the term failed previous experience. 3- Like Hizbullah, Hamas has no military power to beat israel army in the conventional sense, but like hizbullah they will try to establish a deterrant situation through those rockets that will not win a war but can certainly scare many israelis to move on, creating fear and instability in Israel too. 4- I still believe that cooperation and not confrentation is the way forward. Israel has certainly missed every opportunity. They will also miss this one. 5- Can Israel get a more cooperative leader than Abbas. The answer is no. So why Israel didnt cooperate with him...Answer is that Israel has nothing to give and unfortunately the cycle of vilonce will continue. Shame.................
13. #Abdullah
linda   (02.27.06)
Remember how arafat and his people was about the kuwait matter? He AND his people standing all behing Saddam when Iraqi's raping and killing your people! But maybe you are a palestinian working there. The slaves of the arab world, working in all arab countries and be treated as shit by you arab 'brothers' Ohh, by the way, wanted to know this for a long time...are they any arab online newspapers where I can talk so free as arabs do here on ynet? Every time I go to a arab site I got a virus.
14. Oh Puleeeeeze
Joe Levi ,   Los Angeles.USA   (02.27.06)
This entire debate is nonsensical. Israel IS a legitimate country, recognized by most nations. It has been in existence since 1948, notwithstanding several Arab attempts to destroy it. The so-called territories are in dispute because of the Arab initiated wars. We all know that the term "occupied" is used by the Palestinians, when in fact there is no such entity as Palestine or any such people as the Palestinians (if anything, the Jews are the true Palestinians). The goal of Hamas, like the PLO, like Fatah, is the removal of all Jews from Israel, and the creation of a Muslim (23rd) state. It's just that simple. Whether Israel calls them "enemy" or whatever, it is irrelevant. I suppose, to placate the US (again), Israel will back down..using the adjective "terrorist" instead. Israel MUST stick to it's guns, literally, if need be and not back down on it's demands. It's in their interests. Now we hear (from a Jew no less), that the Palestinian economy is on the verge of collapse. Just more rot, Id say. I ask, where have all the billions gone? Perhaps up the their noses? If I were Mofaz, I would take over parts of the Strip, precluding any return of the settlers. which would be a mistake.
15. Israel is weak and will lose the fight...
Jeremiah ,   Israel   (02.27.06)
The sad thing is that the Arabs smell Israel's weakness. Their propaganda machine is kicking the crap out of not only Israel but the Western world. When the vast majority of the Arabs voted for Hamas we're suppose to think that those Democratic Arabs are a bunch peace loving hippies. They are busy being at war with us while Olmert and the U.S. try to figure out how to give them OUR BIBLICAL HOMELAND and feed the little jackals. It will take an act of God before Israel grows a spine and fights back. The Left don't know how to fight, they would much rather bend over while America sits back and watches. Thanks to the Israeli left we aren't being driven in to the sea by the Arabs, we are fighting to dive in. So determined to walk that Oslo road map while the Arabs and the U.N. don't even show Israel on the map. Listen... can't you hear the Left and America... "Give them Judea and Samaria then wall the Arabs in, if they continue their attacks then we'll bomb the hell out of them". Only a crack head would honestly believe this will work. Once you give it away they will be stronger and only continue just like after Gaza and Israel will still be America's little lap dog, doing what it's told. Don't respond with violence find a diplomatic solution, watch what you say you might make Europe and the Muslim world upset, remember Islam is a peaceful religion, it's just hijacked right now. While America is doing what's good for America by taking the war to the Middle East and keeping it out of her backyard, Israel gets trash dumped all over her. Wake up world... Israel will not stand unless she is a Jewish Torah state not a State of secular Jews. When She suffers you will suffer. Enough is enough already... No more appeasement, no more Oslo, we want our Temple Mount back and all of the trash cleared off of it!
16. I find it very pretentious
Hiram ,   tel aviv   (02.27.06)
from the PA " leaders" to mention that they have "defeated the zionist ennemy"...They depends exclusively on foreign aid....and at this time, it is the " west " which holds the future PA destiny into its hands....not a so called # 2 or " prime minister to be " in a terrorist government of some kind, whose members have been elected not willingly but as a sanction towrads the previous corrupt government !!!
17. Abdullah, Kuwait City : Get Real
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (02.27.06)
it is Arab support and their financing that has brought Hamas to where it is NOT ISRAEL: Stop constantly blaming all your ills onto Israel and Jews. Plus the funding from the EU: ECI: EU partly to blame for rise of Hamas Statement by the European Coalition for Israel 30th January 2006 http://www.ec4i.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=1
18. john: Your brain power is limited as usual
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (02.27.06)
19. #13 linda
Motaz ,   Dubai   (02.27.06)
"Every time I go to a arab site I got a virus." Yes, linda, the arab websites have this new technology where they sense that the viewer is not an arab, and then a virus is sent out to that computer! you moron. And I'm a Palestinian living in Dubai, you still think I'm a "slave of the arab world"? Come and look at my house, come and look at our cars, come and see how this 'slave' is living. If you are interested i will send you pictures of this 'slavery' that i'm forced to live. This slave's Mercedez is waiting in the two car garage, talk to you later!
20. Biological & nuclear weapons
Yariv ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.06)
You missed the point. Soon Hamas will have biological and nuclear weopons, and their rockets will be able to reach Ramat Aviv not only Askelon. Olmert/Peres/Livni will move to US but the rest of us?
21. Motaz , Dubai: The Place the most implicated in terror
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (02.27.06)
money etc. Well you are well placed ...... UAE Save Bin Laden? http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?print=yes&id=12684 may be that's why you need to show off witha mercedes....... with terror money ?
22. Gaby, it's business money
Motaz ,   Dubai   (02.27.06)
And it's all legit. Come to Dubai, you'll see what I'm talking about. We are much more advanced than your pathetic economy dependent on foreign aid from one single donor. We are the most advanced city in the region, economically and otherwise. Come look at our buildings and compare them to yours, take a look at our brethtaking construction projects and compare them to yours, you cannot compete with Dubai, keep dreaming. www.theworld.ae And guess what won't be in that world; I'll give you a hint, Palestine will be there.
23. Motaz
Michelle   (02.27.06)
Why aren't you helping your fellow palestinian brothers and sisters instead of driving around in a mercedez living in dubai?
24. Motaz
(02.27.06)
Do not try to compare, in ranks even the richest oil states in the Arab word scratch the 50 best states to live in from below, while Israel is in the top 20. Besides, is that what you're proud of? exporting oil, oil, oil and shesh besh desks? we are proud of our engineers and our human resources, we have created a developed westren society in the middle of the third world without a drop of oil or any natural resource for the matter, you depend solely on oil which will one day, run out or be replaced, then i'd be happy to see your situation. Peace.
25. Do some research - we are not only oil
Motaz   (02.27.06)
This isn't Saudi Arabia, it's the UAE. If you think we depend only on oil, you're very mistaken. We are the business capital of the Middle East, if not Asia (minus Japan, for now). We have used our oil money smartly, unlike the Saudis. We have tourism, an industry which brings in about as much money as oil does. We have business, I could go on for days about this, but feel free to research for yourself. We have worked day and night for the past decade to become not just an oil country, and to say that we've accomplished our goal is an understatement. And you Israelis are the last to speak to us about how we receive foreign money - at least we export something to receive it and don't depend on our foreign ass-kissing lobby groups for free cash! Yes, we export oil, wouldn't you if you had it?? We don't depend only on American "aid" for our millitary and American weapons to do our dirty work. And about oil running out - wouldn't you think that the "oil countries" would be (1) the most prepared in such a situation and (2) the LAST to run out???
26. Motaz: Right : Business - Reality looks different
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (02.27.06)
You all are not kidding anyone - nor the US congress - nor the American people. Dubai - the country that was participating in 9/11 - that still launders money today for terrorism - the country that was jumping to accept The Taliban as a regime. UAE has an "uneven history" as "one of only a handful of countries in the world to recognize the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Yeah - real good business indeed millions of dollars in al-Qaida funds went through UAE financial institutions. And still are. Since the banking system is not openly regulated. A special commission that investigated the terrorist attacks against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001 concluded that "there's a persistent counterterrorism problem represented by the United Arab Emirates." And I give you a hint - a very strong hint - stop trying to fool anyone - we ain't fooled not by YOU, nor anyone. Palestine was never a country and you Arabs don't fool anyone any more on this subject.
27. Motaz: the only thing you export is OIL and Terrorism and it
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (02.27.06)
FUNDING: Now you don't impress anyone with your mercedes. All Geneva's taxis are mercedes. Mercedes is a common car anywhere here - I got one - big deal but it is little people like you who need to show off with a car. learn to show off with brains and real inventions - then we'll see
28. Motaz : you just show your ignorance
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (02.27.06)
the entire world knows - that oil reserves are to run out within at least 20 years - now learn a decent job and start to think what else you can export Camel Shit ? !
29. Gabrielle, stop hitting on me!
Motaz ,   Dubai   (02.27.06)
20 years til no oil? Well then it's YOU who needs to start looking for other options, not US. Don't you think that the countries who have all the oil will be the last ones to run out you idiot?! And I wasn't showing off with my Mercedes, just pointing out to YOU that i'm not a "slave of the Arab world" as you called me earlier! And I have as much to do with the oil business as you do. I do not work in the oil industry, my father does not work in the oil industry, and my mother does not work in the oil industry, we have other jobs and are as much dependent on oil as you are! The difference is my country has oil reserves and yours doesn't, so I think we will have some to keep for ourselves and none to ship to you, in 20 years when you say it will run out. Judging from your comments, you've never been to Dubai. Come here first, then try just try to say that our economy is dependent on oil, it's not. Recognition of the Taliban? The Americans invited senior Taliban members to the White House prior to 9/11, so don't even try that argument. Anything else?
30. WHY SO WEAK?
ALAN ,   USA   (02.27.06)
WHY HAVE BUSH AND ISRAEL SEEMINGLY BECOME SO WEAK? IF IRAN GETS THE THE BO0MB THEY WILL USE IT, HAMAS IS PLANNING SOMETHING BIG! AFTER THE HANGINGS IN IRAQ IN FALLUJUAH, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN "FALLUJUA NO MORE!" IN 1967, ISRAEL TOOK PREEMPTIVE STEPS AN BROUGHT PRIDE TO THE JEWISH STATE. SINCE WHEN DO WE CARE ABOUT WORLD OPINION? THANKS GABRIELLE FOR YOUR INFO, IT GIVES ME A MORE GLOBAL OUTLOOK.
