3. Getting jumpy over a police station? Vote National Union!
Steve ,   USA   (03.14.06)
B"H This is another election ploy. I would not get too excited. It is not like Olmert has completed building the first round of housing for those uprooted from Gaza. He has not initiated even a singe house here! This is just a political announcement to try to buy votes. Vote National Union for true continuity!
4. I didn't even...

6. Israel recieves permission from it's new god
Marcel ,   Florida   (03.14.06)
Everything Israel does has to be religiously blessed by their new god whom they obey and revere with total obedience. When this god says no than E1 will stop immediately. The spineless puppets of Israel alway race to Wahsington to get permission .
7. Jewish land
Irgun Fighter   (03.14.06)
Maale Adumim is indisputably Jewish land and the State of Israel shall never part with it.

Yoav Ben Zakai ,   Jerusalem   (03.14.06)
Shut up john...the arabs wasted the opportunity to have a state when they refused the partition plan and declared war on us...they should be grateful they're still there. Judea and Samaria was renamed the "west bank" by Jordan after they annexed it and almost decimated the entire Jewish quarter, blew up centuries old synagogues and desecrated Jewish tombs and used the tomb stones for bunkers and steps. Before that, it was even known in arabic as "al yahudah wal saamirrah" , arabic for yehudah we shomron (judea and samaria). Its people like you who are so disconnected from the historical events and the history of the peoples of the region that do nothing but antagonize or as they say in arabic "yizamirru fil hawwa" meaning "uttering complete nonsense with no purpose"
9. America didnt object
marc vernick ,   westfield usa   (03.14.06)
This article again shows that Israel has effectively lost its sovereignty and is in reality, a state of the United States!

We know how to handle misfits. Eventually two good neighbors would be living side by side.
12. #1 john aka ahmad
alan ,   frisco   (03.14.06)
When is are the Arabs going to pay for all the homes they confiscated from the one million Jews who lived in their lands Mr Achmad? Be reasonable. Israel won a war that was forced upon it in 1967. Jordan owned the land, not any villages. Jordan gave up the land and until there is a negotiated settlement, Israel has the right under treaties to dispose of some of this land as it sees fit. To connect Jerusalem to nearby settlements is logical and right. Would LA be LA without Hollywood. No. But you would have Jerusalem cut off from its Hollywood.

14. E1 is critical in order to...
David   (03.14.06)
construction in E1 is critical in order to eliminate the threat of the creation of a viable palestinian state living.... because the arabs in palestine want a state and because this one of their "conditions" to make "peace" with israel we must in any way prevent this to happen !!! we all know that with E1 J'lem will be for us alone even with 300 000 aliens. Moreover with E1 the "West Bank" will be a little more cut in cantons. But who care it is our land that G-d gave to us, the choosen people. Tonight we can say that the palestinian people made the right choice on the 25th January. Now you've got a real partner that explicitly tell his people that the other side has no sovereign right on this land. With this decision the Olmert "governement" send a clear message to the PA inhabitants and to the world : No way to a real palestinian state. We all know what are the consequences of this : Resistance to eternal domination ! What is really sad is that the two state solution is now only a hasbara israeli trick. In a few years a majority of peaceseeckers people betwenn the river and the sea will ask for the one state solution. 72
15. "John"
Rob ,   UK   (03.14.06)
Jews were there 3,000 years ago, so, technically, the Arabs stole it. Now it's just being resettled by its rightful owners. And if it wasn't for Jewish settlement those hills would still be a barren wasteland.
16. Yes, this is the way to complete the controversies
(03.14.06)
Israel evacuate certain lands, and stregthens others. In less than a few years time, a settlement will be reached between both the sides. Things are changing, and they have to change. When it stalls, nothing moves, and nothing improves. Go on !

Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.14.06)
John, once again your anti-Jewish bias is showing. Incidentally, your spelling is bad which suggests that you are not a well educated man. It is imperative for Israel to connect Jerusalem and Maale Adumim for the sake of establishing secure borders. The Palestinians have clearly indicated their intentions to destroy the State of Israel and drive the Jews out. They made this very clear when they elected Hamas. Historically, the whole Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people and it is the Arabs who are the real occupiers. Who can honestly deny that they, the Arabs, have stolen the Jewish Temple Mount, the place where the Jewish people built both the first and second Temples? Anyone who denies that Judea and Samaria were the ancient homelands of the Jewish people is simply refusing to acknowledge the documented historical and archeological evidence.

every day hundred new neighbours is being made around the world why only finding fault with israel? i honestly believe you jews should stop arguing with "logical and liberal " people, who close their eyes to every thing and put israel under microscope just go to gogle and search for "omar pact" to see how this Khalifa conquered all these lands with sword

Mohamed ,   Ramallah   (03.14.06)
For readers from America: its like driving from Maryland to Washington DC on the Interstates 95 without having the right to exit the route because you will be in another country, where you need a visa or permit... That what the Israeli Minister is trying to fool the world with. Any way, all the land their sould be given back to its real owners (palestinians) including east jerusalem, Maale Adumim and the area in between . Otherwise, any potential arrangement for a palestinina state would be impossible. And its very surprising that after all of these Israel still saying its seeking peace, Very Funny..
21. And if you believe this....I have a swamp to sell you
hannah ,   usa/israel   (03.14.06)
How cheap do you think is the mentality of the Jewish people that right before an election you bring out a bulldozer or two to do who knows what. And if the government itself built up entire communities and ripped that into shreds, what would keep them from stopping the building as a "goodwill gesture" right after the elections? Sorry Kadima, I trust you as far as I could throw you. For all I know, it's going to be a PA police station.

Yes,you are very right! Israel,if Jewish People weren't there, would be nothing;but because Jews are there,it became"precious "and all eyes are directed to there. If one takes a look in this situation ,it is almost sad. Just take a look in the map:Israel is a so small country that one can travel in the whole of it in one day.And still all world put their eyes there and blame Jewish People for all. Take a look in the whole Midle east and how much percent Israel represent:almost nothing. But is this Jewish tiny space that all want! It is disgusting to see the blindness of so many people.

26. ISRAEL ALLOWS MEGA THOUSANDS OF ILLEGAL ARAB CONSTRUCTIONS
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (03.14.06)
THE SELF DESTRUCT DOUBLE STANDARD by Yoram Ettinger, January 20, 2006 Illegal Arab construction has become a norm, led by the Palestinian Authority (many PA officials reside in illegal homes), bankrolled by Saudi petrodollars and observed by the wide-closed eyes of Israel. Illegal construction has become an effective means to challenge Jewish sovereignty over Jerusalem, to undermine major infrastructure and housing projects in the Negev and Galilee, to limit the freedom/security of Jewish movement along major transportation arteries, to facilitate terrorism and to exacerbate crime. While Israel has faced that threat meekishly, it is enforcing the law in an iron-fist manner when it comes to a few scores of Jewish houses throughout Judea & Samaria and Hebron (built on a Jewish-registered property, which was ravaged by Arabs in 1929). Over 1,000 illegal houses are built annually – by Jerusalem Arabs – since 1997. Only 30-40 are demolished by the authorities. About 10,000 illegal houses are built, annually, by "Green Line" Arabs in the Galilee, Negev, "Triangle", Lod and Ramleh. About 100 are demolished. Since 1967, there has been more Arab residential (largely illegal) construction in Jerusalem than Jewish construction in the capital of the Jewish State. But, Israel is enforcing the law in an iron-fist manner when it comes to a few scores of Jewish houses throughout Judea & Samaria and Hebron (built on a Jewish-registered property, which was ravaged by Arabs in 1929). Legal and governance impotence have characterized Israel's battle against illegal Arab construction, which threatens Israel's sovereignty and the rule of law in Jerusalem and all over the country. Palestinian documents, found at the PLO's "Orient House", highlight illegal construction as a key instrument in the campaign to erode the Jewish character of Jerusalem. According to the documents, the Palestinian Authority (PA) has enticed illegal construction in Jerusalem's Arab neighborhoods of Shoafat, Beit Haninah and A-Zaim, in order to prevent continuity between the Jewish neighborhoods of French Hill and Pisgat Ze'ev, and to avert the unification of Jerusalem and Ma'aleh Adoumim. Illegal construction is raging along Highway 443, the critical road from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, with the aim to transform it into an Arab road, threatening the security of Jewish transportation. While a 1999 Palestinian document anticipated that Israel was determined "to demolish 400-500 illegal houses in Beit Haninah and Shoafat", a 2000 document notified the PA that "no need to worry", since Israel would only demolish a few houses, and illegal construction could proceed with full speed ahead. But, Israel is determined to enforce the law in an iron-fist manner when it comes to a few scores of Jewish houses in Hebron and throughout Judea & Samaria. Illegal Arab construction has become a norm, led by the Palestinian Authority (many PA officials reside in illegal homes), bankrolled by Saudi petrodollars and observed by the wide-closed eyes of Israel. For instance, illegal construction in the Jerusalem Arab neighborhood of Silwan has been a platform for intensified terrorism and felony. Forging real estate titles has proliferated in the Arab sector, robbing state-owned land as well as privately owned Arab land, fueling extortion, protection, gang-wars and the importation of illegal Arab residents from Hebron and other towns to Jerusalem – a fertile ground for terrorism. But, Israel is determined to enforce the law in an iron-fist manner when it comes to scores of Jewish houses in Hebron and throughout Judea & Samaria...
