2. 21 arrested for Purim rowdiness
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (03.16.06)
There were 630 arrested in New Orleans during Mardi Gras this year, down from 1574 last year.
3. Seth #1
Plain Talk ,   Brooklyn, NY   (03.16.06)
Do you really think that service in the IDF would prevent haredim from engaging in "ad lo yoda?" I think not - but I do think that you have an attitude against observant Jews.
4. Chareidim
Yisrael ,   Australia   (03.16.06)
Without the chareidim there would be no colture, land or jewishness
5. And the number of settlers BEATEN while not resisting police
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (03.16.06)
6. Haredim?
Dovy ,   Toronto   (03.16.06)
Where are all these so-called Haredim when it comes to protesting against the existence of the Zionist State?!
7. #1 seth should join the idf
ram ,   modiin   (03.16.06)

8. These are the so-called most faithful Jews!!
Palestinian   (03.16.06)
It just show what a follower of sincere Judaism can do. I hope this answer's the stupid Pat Robertson comments about sincere muslims!
9. dont you have better things to worry about
jAMES ,   GEORGETOWN   (03.16.06)
dont you have better things ot worry about then Chareidi welfare, and their purim drinking..... your comments are one sided and seem biased! Let them celebrate their holiday
10. RIOT?-Only Chareidim!
SUFT ,   NYC/JRSLM   (03.16.06)
For some odd reason, Ynet is the only news source to label this as a "RIOT". some 20 Chareidim got drunk and did a few stupid things-is that called a riot? In NY it wouldnt even make the news, as a matter a fact the other main israeli news' did not even mention it, but Ynet had something to fuel all the secular to hate Chareidim a little more, so blow up some more stories and keep up the great work of incitement!
11. Let these morons cool their pantaloons....
Andy   (03.16.06)
in jail for a few weeks.
12. Haredim need to start serving in the IDF & working
Arik ,   Beersheva   (03.16.06)
I'm so tired of the "holier than though" attitude every one of them has - they won't even SPEAK to "secular" Israelis unless they absolutely have to. At the same time, they don't work, mooch off OUR taxes, and don't even serve in the IDF. And they're %15-20 of the population! NO other counttry would let this happen.
13. hamorim
Yoav Ben Zakai ,   israel   (03.16.06)
They like parasites off the state of Israel! While our sons and daughters serve in the army and risk their lives protecting its citizens these ingrates suckle on government welfare and study Torah and Talmud as if there is no real world or war going on around them. The government should cut these people and make them serve like everyone else...or else face fines and prison terms.
14. They do not respect Israel
Robert Goldman ,   cooper city Florida   (03.16.06)
as their leaders stated in Iran last week..
15. Yeah Kyle It's Just The Same. Not.
David ,   Yerushalayim   (03.16.06)
You think you're so smart "Kyle," but you come up with the dumbest things. How many of those 630 (or 1574 last year) were religious Christians who rioted throwing stones at police and attacking racial minorities? Probably none. But if 21 of them had been, it would have been a big story. Can you imagine if there was a drunken Amish race riot? I guess if that got reported it would prove the anti-Amish bias of the media, right?
16. Keep them drunk!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (03.16.06)
Finally the secret to get the haradim to fight. Give them a uniform, weapons, ect. along with a case of schnappes. Keep them drunk for three years and you got a fighting force second to all.
17. Purim Arrests
Mike ,   Bet Shemesh, ISRAEL   (03.16.06)
I wonder how many are arrested in an average weekend in Tel Aviv...
18. Haredim
leah amdur ,   Jerusalem Israel   (03.16.06)
Only that senile old idiot Tomi Lapid is unaware that haredim do not work. There are many haredim who work. There are many who learn. If it was not for us, there would be no Yidishkeit. There would be no knowledge of Torah. Who ever says who should go and work is not a Jew. Torah learning is what keeps the world in existence, if it wasn't for Torah Hashem would destroy it. As for the goyim and especially the arabs, every nation has a malach in shemayim and when Hashem has had enough of that malach He destroys it, and the nation of that Malach ceases to exist. This is what will happen soon to all the arab nations

TC ,   Haifa   (03.16.06)
You wrote: "Who ever says who should go and work is not a Jew." Well that's part of the whole problem my dear : intolerance and absurdity at its best. So to follow up on your "logic", if someone wants to be a jew, he's not supposed to work? The sad truth is that most of them are not working and it's me and you that are financing them: is it normal?
20. IF report is accurate they should be held accountable
Baruch ,   NY, USA   (03.16.06)
If Haredim engaged in such improper acts as portrayed by the report, they should pay the price for such improper actions. If the report is distorted and inaccurate, whoever is responsible must be held so as well.
21. Haredi Jews
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.16.06)
The overwhelming majority of Haredi Jews do not behave like hooligans. It is only an extreme minority that does such things. It is called a chillul Hashem in Hebrew which means to bring about a desecration of G-d’s name, Heaven forbid. In reality, Haredi Jews are very well behaved and spend almost every spare moment of their lives studying Torah and performing mitzvoth (religious duties and good deeds). Haredi Jews perform an invaluable service to Israel and the Jewish people by upholding the Torah.
22. Who are the real hooligans in this country
Moti ,   Tel Aviv   (03.16.06)
as usual the normal Charedi bashing...ignoring the real Israeli hooligans who litter our streets with their valueless ideals. These people are secure in who they are. We are trying to change that due to our jealousy. I work with many of them so cut the rubbish. And if you cant live with Torah, there is a big wde goyisha world out there where you would feel way more comfortable. Why stay in the Land of the Torah...if only to CHaredi-bash?!? Get a life people!
23. to #18, Lea
n/a ,   Tel Aviv   (03.16.06)
Lea you are a former resident from South Africa, it is obvious that you haven't learned much of your previous apartheid regime....you are a racist and hide behind your religion....I don't agree with your arguments..."the Torah learning is what keeps the world in existence.." and " and the Arab nations will be destroyed"....keep believing in fairytales...
24. arab taxi drivers
jenn ,   israel   (03.16.06)
quite frankly, i am afraid of arab taxi drivers, and i am not haredi. the last times i took taxis driven by arab men in jerusalem, were loathesome. once i was spat at because i demanded he put on the meter, the second time i was driven to east jerusalem, by mistake, and then cursed. from the outside the situation in israel seems delorable, but from the inside, sometimes, people are just reacting...

Linda   (03.16.06)
Shut up! What do you know what is 'sincere Judaism'? Go and fix your own religion, there is a lot of work to do for you there!
26. to #3
John ,   Jerusalem   (03.16.06)
You really think these people are "observant" Jews? Just because they follow the rules of their rabbis and wear the black clothes doesn't make them religious.
27. So what?
Jerusalem,Israel   (03.16.06)
So what some haredim on purim get drunk, secular jews also get drunk on purim. #1 move to Israel and then judge us and then make all the comments you want.
28. Drunken haredim throwing stones are not observant Jews!
Lenny ,   Israel   (03.16.06)
29. to #24, from #27
(03.16.06)
Don't be afraid of arab taxi drivers. This is our land! Get a back bone girlfriend! I did and it helped me in this sometimes scary society:)
30. #8 JUDAISM TEACHES G-D'S REQUIREMENT for HUMANITY: KINDNESS
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (03.16.06)
IF the report is true, the haredim were not following Judaism. Bible, Micah 6:8 And what does the L-RD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your G-D.
