3. Actually, nightclubs are risky for Israelis too.
Tahl ,   Israel   (03.19.06)
There are indeed many violent incidents in and around Israel's nightclubs - some often culminate in death. The American embassy's instructions do make sense. Even if the night passes safely, then all the deafening noises, the smoke in your clothes and hair, the overpriced drinks, the bodies constantly banging onto you in the immense over-crowdedness, and the overall cheap atmosphere, would convince you to arrive at the same decision.
4. To Tahl the miserable hermit
Efi ,   Tel Aviv   (03.19.06)
You just described night life all over the world. Israel happens to have the best night life in the world. It's not for everyone but don't knock it just because you don't like the action. For those who like to party, Tel Aviv is the place. Beginning after midnight of course. Regarding the violence, yes it is totally disgusting. Where is the police?? This is however in no way unique to Israel. What, this doesn't happen in New York at nights? Washington D.C.?? London is very violent at nights, are U.S. officials allowed out there? This is absurd overreaction

I wanna party with you sometime. we'll wear raincoats and hang out at the library. hopefully no "people" will be there or "music". Also, noone will be consuming "drinks", or doing any "smoking". If we're really lucky, then noone will be trying to "have sex" or "meet people". itll be fun. dork.

makes sense from the point of view of a State Department....when things improve....our people can join in on the fun.

10. American and going out for a beer tonight
Aaron   (03.19.06)
What a load of rubbish! As if that crap doesnt happen world round. Any nightlife scene has its rough spots. Even my peaceful hometown of Seattle has had murders, fights, etc in its nightlife district. And yanks are allowed there, right??? I'm american and going out for a beer in Jerusalem tonight. I was debating but this article clinches it!
11. drop dead state dept.
jason white ,   afula,israel   (03.19.06)
Was it a week or so ago that the nightclub bouncer in N.Y. killed the female college student from john jay college? Or the poor student from hunter college that was tourtured for days by two animals. Let the state dept.go to hell! There are many more places in the U.S. that make Israel seem like a crime-free zone. Why the hell do we not inform our people of the dangers of going anywhere in the U.S.? I suppose there is no mafia there? No crime either? I grew up knowing people who were connected with the Italian and Jewish mobs there, but they were more honest than the arab-ass kissers in the state dept.
12. Were full of it,...and proud!

they should be flown to bagdad the nightlife over is explosive.
16. You can't step out of a bar in Alaska
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (03.20.06)
Without a brown bear or polar bear trying you out for an appetizer. Where's the State Department when the bear has my leg in his mouth? With all the Organized Crime supporters in the United States watching the Soprano's---you would think every American would want to move in with a mobster.
17. To Efi the jovial party animal, and "Jameson".
Tahl ,   Israel   (03.20.06)
Partying in a nightclub is ok if it's done moderately, every once in a while. I've recently been to a place in Eilat and enjoyed it quite well. But Tel Avivians are quite an aberation when it comes to partying - on average, they do it more than anyone in the world. I'm sorry my taste of good times fails to appreciate the beauty of sleepless nights filled with cigarette smoke, deafening trances, many tequila shots, sleazy sex, and the not-so-remote possibility of getting stabbed - all this every a week - but then again I guess life in the periphery has made me into a less sophisticated and less cool of a person than you two. I can live with that. Anyway, enjoy your ears and lungs while you have them, boys.
18. To Tahl:
Jerusalem,Israel   (03.20.06)
You wanna come over my house after school for milk and cookies? it'll be fun and then we'll ride bikes together and run thru the sprinklers! Now seriously, Tahl you need to relax and enjoy life a little. Nightclubs can be fun in Israel. Chill out :)
19. Israeli Night Scene Unsafe?
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (03.20.06)
Good grief, what about that wretched criminology student in NYC and the ugly end that she came to?
20. #17 Tahl-"sleepless nights filled with sleazy sex"
jF ,   nashville   (03.20.06)
Did you by any chance save those phone-numbers?
21. Re: #5 Jameson
BeachBum ,   Israel   (03.20.06)
Actually, we should ban smoking at clubs/pubs just like in Ireland and NYC. Mercy on the employees!
22. Now the State Department has told Americans not to visit...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (03.26.06)
