1. They trust no-one...
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (03.20.06)
...except some "rabis." Just like the "enlightened" masses of rural Iran and Pakistan where the tribe, mullah and madrasa are the be-all and end-all of life. Israel has to excise Settlerstan posthaste.
2. Steiner trusts the EU- but not Israel
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (03.20.06)
Because as we see, he wastes his life far away in the EU criticizing Israel and telling us how we should live- and die. He, unlike the brave Jews of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza (who are very over-represented in the top IDF units, including the combat officer corp) must not trust any of Israel's institutions.
3. Steiner- Dont u get tired of writing your rubbish
Steve ,   haifa   (03.20.06)
Steiner- Dont u get tired of writig your rubbish
4. as usual michael
ash ,   gush etzion   (03.20.06)
you have twisted things to suit your own conclusion. it may be satisfying to you but it is considerebly intellectually incompetent. they said they trust their Rabbis more, they didnt say that they are the final arbitors of any decsion. if you dont know the difference between the way a religious-zionist see their Rabbi and an Iranian or Taliban Mullah you are fooling yourself. take my settlement for example, we voted not to have a rabbi for our community as we wanted to take decsions democratically by the community as a whole. show me too many communities that uphold such strong democratic decsions. your disdain for religious people without understanding them, thus lumping them together, is sad and extremely unenlightened. secular ideolgies like communism and fascism has caused far more death, destruction and limitation on peoples rights than any religious institution in modern times. should we lump all secular theories together??? www.kicisrael.blogspot.com
5. also dont foget...
ash ,   gush etzion   (03.20.06)
that the poll was taken immediately after what happened in amona. of course feelings are going to be raw. im sure things would be different now. www.kicisrael.blogspot.com
6. We trust those who are trustworthy
Judea Samaria ,   Yesha   (03.20.06)
Not those who lie and deceive. If you trust those who lie and deceive, then you are a fool.
7. Michael Steiner
Tal ,   Jerusalem   (03.20.06)
HUSH, you know absolutly NOTHING and it would be better if you wouldnt of displayed your ignorance and hate in every talkback you write.
8. Settlers
Solo   (03.20.06)
May be they should create the Theocratic Republic of Judea and Samaria, and Israel could go back to its socialist roots... ~~~~~~~ "Samson Blinded: A Machiavellian Perspective on the Middle East Conflict", by Obadiah Shoher http://www.samsonblinded.org/
9. Because you call them "Settlers" - not "Countrymenn" - Dumb!
andrew ,   miami, fl   (03.20.06)
10. Two State Solution
Gary Luke ,   Sydney, Oz   (03.20.06)
I'm in favour of a two state solution to Israel's problems - A secular Jewish state where Israel is, and a religious Jewish state in Samaria & Judea. Maybe there should be a third Jewish state - a militaristic Jewish state in Gaza.
11. Trusting the trustworthy. Trust me on that.
Yoel Ariel ,   USA   (03.20.06)
Why would the "other Jews" of Israel NOT trust the government? Surely there MUST be a reason for that. Hmmm. Maybe they are just distrustful of those who have not shown that they are worthy of trust. Could that be it? Hmmm. Let me muse, my special muse. And to Abu Steiner, Hi! Where were you? I missed that special irrationality you bring to the discussion table and had to make do with the feeble squirts of Sec the very Secular Sabra. I assume that you must be the one "european" that actually works for a living. But then again. THAT is not a consideration that I should trust.
12. THEY ARE NOT SETTLERS
(03.20.06)
They are INTERNATIONALLY-ILLEGAL COLONIZERS of land that is legally NOT theirs. Stop calling them settlers.
13. Two nations living side by side,.....
Yoel Ariel ,   USA   (03.20.06)
#10's idea IS noteworthy. Two nations. BOTH Jewish (OK maybe one and the other not quite Jewish except for certain foods and the occasional holiday) living side by side in peace. Border crossings and troops pushing folks around, maybe kicking a crotch here and there, a head bonk with a truncheon every once in a while, and lots and lots of U.N.assistance in theft and rape. A growth industry in peadophila and US funding(whoops! already have that) and the EU, well, lets NOT tell the EU. You know how they are about Jews.
14. Not just a "settler" issue
Lady Justice ,   City of Peace   (03.20.06)
I'm not a settler. I live within the green line. But I also despise the High Court of (In)Justice, have no respect for the government or its institutions, do not trust the police. I must say that I did not feel this way when I arrived here ten years ago. If anyone did a proper investigation, they would find that this issue crosses many social lines. The next government should be concerned about understanding the reasons and offering some solutions.
15. Gary...
Solo   (03.20.06)
Why a militaristic Jewish state in Gaza? I'm sure the Gaza Strippers could make a good mediterranean resort overthere. Think of the Euros, please.
16. To # 10
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Shomron   (03.20.06)
My favourite two states solution: an atheist gay-proud Jewish state in Tel Aviv and a G-d fearing Torah state in Judea and Samaria
17. Because as we see, he wastes his life far away in the EU...?
Marvin ,   maple , ontario   (03.20.06)
who wants to tie up his future and that of his children with looney land ? wasting life ? is it a case of the pot calling the kettle ?..... one would have thought israelis have more brain .
18. The settlers are parasites
TC ,   Haifa   (03.20.06)
During all those years they lived with confidence under the State protection and they were fine with that but now that things are changing (Thanks G.), they don't like the State of Israel, they are not ready to live like every israeli (I mean to pay taxes, to work and so on) and give up their privilleges. Guess what? Most of israelis don't like them and don't give a damn about them. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT THEY ARE NOW SUFFERING LIKE MOST ISRAELIS.
19. Who loves the settlers?
Lenny ,   Israel   (03.20.06)
Out of the 7 billion people on earth, how many people are OK as far as the settlers are concerned? The settlers should ask themselves why there are so few on their side.
20. The settlers are Israel's future
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (03.20.06)
During all those years they lived under fire and suffered more than any Israelis, yet they started out in caravans, then built permanent homes, schools, yeshivot, batei knesset, and so on. In spite of the racist Arabs who have tried to murder and ethnically cleanse them- with the support of the extreme left, they have grown and continue to do so. Even with the 'disengagement', their population grew this year, and is growing three times as fast as the overall population of Israel. They are more employed than the average Israeli, and in the IDF, are the most motivated and disciplined soldiers, which is why so many become officers (like the kibbutznikim of old). Guess what? If some Sheinkin freaks don't like them, this won't change. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT THEY ARE THE HOPE OF ISRAEL. THE SECULAR LEFT IS SELF-DESTRUCTING BUT THE SETTLERS HAVE TAKEN THE BALL AND WILL RUN WITH IT.
21. What do you expect?
Zev ,   Israel   (03.20.06)
Do you expect the raped to thank the rapist??
22. Israel can no longer be called a democracy
Beni   (03.20.06)
23. Who loves the Jews?
Michael   (03.20.06)
Out of the 7 billion people on earth, how many people are OK as far as the Jews are concerned? The settlers are the Jews of Israel.
24. A Question For All Those NOT Understanding "Settler"Distrust
Adina kutnicki ,   US   (03.20.06)
This is a question to all those who do not understand why the "settlers" do not trust the state - if any one of you were thrown out of your legal homes, if your entire ! communities were destroyed, and then handed over to your genocidal foes, how would you now view the "authorities"??
25. #20
(03.20.06)
Israel's problem is not the left or the right, it's the combination, we don't have unity as we used to have in biblical days. We need to stay united, each side needs to calm his extremists, and each side needs to earn something. We are only strong when we are together.
26. #1, you're the problem, not the "settlers."
AK   (03.20.06)
Anybody who wants to "excise" his/her people is an extremist, fanatic and an enemy. You often claim to be a Jew, so statement is a disgrace.
27. # 25
keren ,   sao paulo   (03.20.06)
The problem is lack of Ethics! Government's lack of ethics, mostly! But lack of ethics from citizens too! Lack of Love from those who govern towards its people is missing too. Ethical behavior should be law. I don't know how to implement such a thing, but it is that thing that is missing. Mench, would be the word? Maybe an educational program,to refresh people's minds about Ethics. Jewish Ethics...We wouldn't need more than that.;more would be only for adding much culture to our lives. Only Jewish ethics would be enough!
28. #25, you are right that Right and left must be united,
AK   (03.20.06)
but not at the expense of the Right. The government must earn the trust of the people and the Israeli government has failed to do so. Israeli press has miserably failed to be objective and the Israeli Court of Justice is the greatest failure of it all, completely destroying its mandate.
29. an answer to the Kutnicki woman
Michael ,   Haifa   (03.20.06)
..the same way as an American Indian feels towards the "white" Americans, the Australian aborgines to the "white" immigrants and the Palestinians towards the settlers
30. Settlers never cared about the state in the first place
Efi ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.20.06)
They just saw it as a means to a messianic end, so what's the news here?
