I'm no fan of Tzipi Livni but she has the right to campaign anywhere she wants. If Mahane Yehuda is the right place is for her campaign manager to decide. The merchants show themselves in a very unbusiness like fashion. If you're not 'from the right/the Likud' you shouldn't shop/campaign at Mahane Yehuda? Tel Aviv's Carmel market would've been a wiser choice, the merchants there at least have their (business) priorities right-serve all comers, campaigning politician or not.

Meir the merchant had it right: you don't steal from a market and then show up there again. Yes, Livni had a right to campaign there, but the merchants and other visitors had a right to protest her visit. Unlike Kleiner's visit to Yafo, according to this story the only violence at this demonstration came from the police who beat the demonstrators while they pushed Livni away.

She knows better than to campaign in Mahane Yehuda. The left will loose.
4. The voice of the people..

You'd think that by what one reads in the papers that Kadima would be met with kisses and roses. But the truth lay in the voice and action of the people. The peopleDO NOT want a party like Kadima ( despite what the media forces down your throat) -Kadima - the party that tramples Jews underfoot in order to get a head. "Kadima" the party that brought ill will to the army by using them to exile Jews from their land! They are hypocrites and phoneys. No ideology my behind. Their ideology is " on the backs of my brother's." And all of you Lefty hypocrites who support ISM or Machsom Watch can't support the people who protest the roundheel Livni?

Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (03.27.06)
What the hell do people expect when Livn's Kadima will only bring Hamas straight into Jerusalem? Should they bring her flowers to save for all the graves that Kadima will bring?

stay home
7. Kadima supporter will go to the supermarket instead
Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem   (03.27.06)
If Machane Yehuda vendors don't want kadima supporters, then they shouldn't complain when sales plummet because Kadima supporters prefer to shop in Rami Levi or the like. What goes around, comes around
8. Glad I stopped shopping there years ago.

Those aren't "the People". The people left Jerusalem long ago for some peace and quiet. Just Arsim and American right wing freaks left there.
10. "This is a celebration of democracy" err, putsch dictatorshi
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (03.27.06)
That bashes the brains in and breaks the limbs of the best of Jews who love the land that protects all of the nation. Yet they will unilateraly commit suice without even negotiating the terms of"suicide". They will give the land in slef engrandizing move that treatens everyone else. if they want to dictate they should dictate that the right of return will be enforced. That those who come to kill Jews and be as pins in their eyes SHALL return to their homicidal Hamite peninsula by their own name. Shalom alechem

Chaya ,   Israel   (03.27.06)
The people of Manane Yehuda are the men who fought in a number of wars so you can life in your home in Binyamina. If anybody has a right to protest, it's these guys. Olmert is tired of fighting? Well, he can step back and let the real Israelis do the fighting. Cause that is what's going to happen if Olmert has his way. There will be a war unlike any we have been through so far.
12. Herut got beat up in Jaffa

And YNet applauded the Arabs who attacked them.
13. This is our market! no entrance to corrupt dealers !
Yerushalmi   (03.28.06)
We've had enough of your arrogance and your disrespect, we are not your slaves who are here for taxes, war, and voting you and your corrupted friends in order to monopol on our backs, stay out of our market and out of our city!
14. Bad Judgement Call
David ,   Jerusalem   (03.28.06)
This was forseable and and easy call to make. The fact that Olmert's number one girl - and our foreign minister of all people - had the bad judgement and lack of foresight to see this coming does not speak well for any future under a kadima led government.
15. Right wing loons gone wild
George W ,   Chicago IL   (03.28.06)
Hey, how many of you right wing freaks defending Livni getting pushed around in the market today were the same people screaming for transfer last week when the Herut bozos got the money slapped out of their hands in Jaffa? Kyle and Adina specifically, I'd be shocked if you weren't crying last week about the sanctity of the democratic process and how there's no excuse for violence, anyone arguing with Herut should be thrown on the back of a truck and shipped to Jordan, etc. If you think that right wing Jews have a right to do anything and others have no right to do anything, that's fine (it's a totally retarded position, but whatever). Just say that you're a bigot instead of dressing it up in a bunch of flowery nonsense; it reduces confusion.
16. They probably thought she was giving their shops away
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (03.28.06)
to some unemployed guy on the other side of the wall. It's a withdrawel syndrome. Jews getting their blankets stolen by Olmert and Kadima. Or is it Jews getting fleeced by their own government. All in the name of some stealth peace. It will backfire, and Israel won't be able to turn the clock back unfortunately.
17. To #9: WRONG!
Xing the Jordan ,   RBS, Israel   (10.05.08)
How can you say that they aren't The People. You ran from your Capital, leaving it to be handed to an enemy sworn to destroy you. The vacuum has been filled by faithful Jews that put their money and lives where their mouth is. Yes, they are often American, French, Israeli Right Wingers. And proud of it. What your ultra-left wing camp has neglected to tell you is that they are giving up. Like Kadima promised " We are Tired of Winning." Well, that is one political party that has kept its promise. It has lost all that it had to win, both the 2nd Leb War, and its honor (presuming there was any to begin with)
