How will he handle this. Pay out money to get a coalition. By the way we already had a couple of foreign ministers that did not speak english{livni and levy}.
32. #30 common sense
Carol ,   Washington USA   (04.02.06)
Oh, so SK's vote from the US doesn't count....bear in mind Israel couldn't exist without the $3 billion plus it extacts annually from U.S. taxpayers like SK. Decades of failed efforts to fully dispossess PALS should be ample evidence that you need to consider plan B. Giving back the land you stole from them would be a start.
33. Reply to #30 (the guy with no sense)
sk ,   USA   (04.02.06)
I assume you write from the proud state of Illinois? There ARE a lot of Arabs there. Me, I don't need fascists like you from the Levant coming to the US and giving me lectures on democracy, or common sense for that matter. Incidentally, the US bought Alaska from the USSR. As for EVERTHING to the west and south of the East coast, we call it "Manifest Destiny," sometimes bought, sometimes conquered. You understand the concept, because Arabs now occupy land outside of Arabia, including much of Africa. As for "kook history," what precisely do you deny about the history I have offered? Oh why bother. I agree though that Israel's borders should not be Mandate borders. Rather, they should include all of Jordan, the Sinai, and much of Lebanon and Syria. For starters.
34. reply to #32
sk ,   USA   (04.02.06)
Oh please, Carol. First, Common Sense is almost certainly an A-Rib (as Twain would say). Second, Israel could easily do without the $3B. Indeed, Feiglin suggests a prompt cessation of all foreign aid. Anyway, this is money that the US gives to Israel so that it can buy US weapons. It is a tiny (and I mean tiny) part of the Israeli economy. Your claim that Israel "stole" any land from the Pals is ludicrous. Obviously, you have misunderstood both Common Sense and me. You support the enemy, which is the nonsensical and low-IQ Common Sense.

Common Sense ,   IL   (04.02.06)
Israel managed juuuuuuust fine without the US during it's most difficult period so take your 3 billion and shove it. The only land anyone stole around here is you from Native Americans.

Common Sense ,   IL   (04.02.06)
no buddy. I'm from IL as in Israel. And I fought in the Army as did my parents. So I tell you again, stay where you are and mind your own business. You're a crazy fascist who wants people like me and my family to die for his sick dreams. I am sure as hell happy with Israel's Green Line and so are most Israelis. You want for Israel to have borders that include xyz? Enlist in the Army and go fight for them. Or you could try fighting for your own country first-Iraq is beckoning buddy.
37. #33:
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (04.02.06)
Typical rightist arrogance of an armchair general. I'm not even going to attempt to defeat your point about the borders because your stating that Israel's borders should include muc of the Middle East is the biggest nnsense I've heard in a long time. On what legal, moral, historical or other basis and--more importantly--WHY this should be so is anyone's guess. But I guess those who need to get off on a big territory do so because they lack in size in other departments. ;-)

ah!,israeli, you are the same team as SS! Listen you isr..,Mosher and I and whoever is JEW,will keep, yes, giving our positions in what is OUR problem too.Understood?
39. Reply to #36 ("Common Sense")
sk ,   USA   (04.02.06)
Wow, I mistook a typical Bolshevik sabra for a typical Hitler-inspired Arab. But then, nowadays, there is much in common between them. In the first place, I registered for the draft just as all American men are required to do. I would have served if called. However, in the US we do not need to be continually in full-war-mode because we actually conclude our wars. Also, in a real democracy (which Israel is not), civilians control the military, and voters just like me are free to comment on what the military does, even if, at the moment, we do not serve. You still have not clarified what you mean by my "kook 'history.'" I like how you put scare quotes around "history." Of course, the history I offer is as correct as could be, which is evident because you do not bother to dispute it. Not that someone who has gone through the Israeli educational system is likely to know anything about the Mandate. It is inane for you to suggest that I join the IDF to fight for Mandate borders, as if I could sign up for that purpose if I wanted to. But why expect logical thought you? I would like you and your family to live without missiles falling on your heads. It turns out that small Israel is much tougher to defend than large Israel. This is why the IDF has repeatedly had to re-enter areas ceded to the "Palestinians" to restore order. Leftists like yourself do not understand that territorial contraction has always jeopardized Jewish lives throughout Israel. You see, Mandate borders are not only religiously preferable, they are militarily preferable as well. When missiles hit Ashkelon's power generators, maybe you will finally understand this point. Yet a people stupid enough not to understand this after decades of experience is indeed stupid enough to vote Kadima or Labor. In fairness though, Israel is not a democracy, and therefore election results cannot be taken at face value: in Israel, when one votes Left, one gets Left; when one votes Right, one gets Ultra Left. How then can a rational voter vote for the Right?
40. keren 38, yeah give your positions
Israeli ,   TA   (04.03.06)
we don't care about a bunch of fanatical loudmouths living on the other side of the world or what they have to say. When you come here, serve in the army, pay taxes and vote what you say will be of more interest to us.
41. Calm my friends
Son of Olmert ,   USA   (04.03.06)
As a son of Olmert, my advice to Jews. Move to USA. Buy a house here. Do not serve in the IDF. And last but not list, vote for my Father. Follow me! Kadima!
42. reply (brief) to #33
sk ,   USA   (04.03.06)
Mr. Steiner, you think Jewish Israel shouldn't even exist. Why exactly should anything you have to say about morality be taken seriously? Don't bother answering ... I almost never read you anyway.
43. Reply to dishonest loudmouth Israeli (#40)
sk ,   USA   (04.03.06)
Why not be honest for a change? You have no interest in what Keren (or I) think, and you wouldn’t regardless of our citizenship status. Only leftist views interest you. Your support for expulsions in territories developed by “Orange Israel,” despite their disproportionate participation in the IDF, says it all. Happily, I can compare Yonatan Bassi to the Judenraat without fear of being imprisoned.
44. 39
Common Sense ,   IL   (04.03.06)
don't you talk to me about hitler, son. hitler murdered almost my entire family and that's precisely the reason I don't wanna turn into him or turn my country nto one like he once led. And speaking of my family, don't worry about them or what falls on their heads. We here in Israel are very capable of sorting out our problems, without a fascist from the other side of the globe telling us what's what. It seems to me that you have a lot of extra energy which you'd like to chanel to war, conquest and expansion. So here's an idea, buddy-----forget the draft. go the whole way and volunteer in your army. We're SICK AND TIRED of verbal jerkoffs from abroad telling us we suck because we don't want to fight their stupid expansionist and religious wars, sneer at our democratic institutions and insult us because of the choices we make in elections. BUZZ OFF!!!!!!!
45. Did you ever consider, that negotiating a compromise with
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (04.03.06)
the Palestinians was never possible in the first place? When everyone in the USA, Europe, and Israel got tired of fighting, and came up with this assumption, that people will negotiate their way to a peaceful settlement, did you believe it? Who came up with this theory, that with enough talking, everyone will decide to be peaceful? Do bacterium, fungus, and viruses negotiate with the host that they are consuming? The hepatitus C virus negotiates to only eat one fourth of your liver? Isn't the bodies protective immune system at the ready, to protect you from foreign invaders at all times? So Israel has a good protective skin---its separation wall. What about the nicks and cuts---breaks in the wall by enemy invaders? Does Israel really believe a negotiation will allow its immune system (Soldiers) to sit idly by and at peace? The soldiers will not have to protect Israel, or fight anymore? Wars are always fought--organisms and men are always looking for a chink in your armour. Men and parasites are never idle, they always come back for you. They take your food and your property. Get used to it. There is never going to be a negotiated peace for any of us. Not even the USA.
46. Sad reading
Ram ,   London   (04.03.06)
Some of these columns make for sad reading. It is strange that, ignoring the anti Jew and anti-semite posters, whilst both sides of the spectrum have the interests of Israelis at heart, we are somehow ignoring the determination of the enemy's intention to erase us. The argument should not focus on expansion or not, left leanings or right, but what will it take to neutralize our most determined enemy. If expansion will increase our vulnerabilty, than obviously that will not be the answer. By the same token, if conceeding further territoty will do the same, then obviously it will be the wrong step. We are at war and wars do not allow for compassion. Sadly, it is "kill or be Killed". Peace is not an option with this enemy. Those who do not believe this should read Islams history going back to its inception some 1500 years ago. Start by reading "The Force of Reason" by Oriana Fallaci and you will find much more. These are books with solid historical facts.
47. #46:
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (04.03.06)
In that case, I'm afraid Israel will have to start a world war aimed at eradicating Islam. So, impossible to stop with the shtakhim; we'll have to fight everyone from Morocco to Indonesia. And if and when we've done that, we'll have the rest of the world on our backs and we'll have to fight them, too. Why don't we instead get real and realize that we have three options: (1) withdraw from the problematic territories, i.e. centers of hostile population and separate ourselves totally from them, (2) execute ethnic cleansing on such territories to rid ourselves of the said hostile population (which, in effect, also constitutes total separation only weith the added dimension of genocide), or (3) grant the hostile population the citizenship and all civil liberties. Those are our only options: choose one. I know which I and most Israelis prefer.
48. Thank you , SK, # 43

49. reply to #46
sk ,   USA   (04.03.06)
Ram, you make a good point. There are religious and legal arguments in favor of expansion to Mandate borders. We are agreed, though, that during war time, reasonable people need to consider the effect of land on security. Thing is, we already know the answer. Israel has been trying to give land away since 1967. People like Common Sense complain that people like me ("fascists") want more war for Israel. The fact is, though, that Israel, in chasing peace, has gotten only war. Israelis even know this at some level. This is why Olmert talks about being tired.
50. Reply to #44 (Common Sense)
sk ,   USA   (04.03.06)
Oh please, not the "Hitler murdered my family" gambit. As if you were the only one. Some of us, though, learned the right lessons from WWII. The only people who talk so freely about "fascists" are Bolsheviks. Israel is a time capsule of Soviet style propaganda. Increasingly I find myself embarrassed by Israel. You don't want to win, so, decade after decade, you bleed. This would be your business, except that what happens in Israel affects Jews throughout the world. If you're TIRED of verbal jerkoffs from abroad, why don't you change the status quo by winning the war waged against you? That war does not come from the likes of me. As for your "democratic institutions," bosh. You have no people's branch, your legislators not being directly elected. Your high court is self-selected and self-perpetuating; it tramples all other branches, as you have no constitution that limits its power. Your media are not independent - indeed, they collude with government instead of being a watchdog. When people vote Right and get Ultra Left, that shows how defective your system is. Incidentally, I have often heard that Israelis are great arguers, but I do not find this to be true, in general. CS, you have as yet engaged me only insofar as to call me a fascist and a jerkoff. You have made no argument that is not ad hominem.
