1. Maybe...
Yael ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.04.06)
This is in no way blaming the victim and i think that a man who rapes a woman should be castrated but maybe if some women weren't so desperate to meet someone and hang out in bars (where who are you going to meet, really?). this might happen less. I know its not a solution but a guy who buys you an addcitive, legal, impairing stimulant at first sight may not have your best interest at heart...GHB or no GHB. All i am saying is think about it girls. There are so many other ways to meet men, healthy ways. Dressing minimally and flirting shamelessly (whether he is cute of not) can only lead to evenutal problems and of not, at the very least, a bit of regret and self-loathing.
2. Unfortuanate Realities
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.04.06)
There's an old saying: fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. This is a known phenomenon and women need to protect themselves. What the men are doing is wrong in the extreme and should be punished, but the onus for common sense and caution is on the ladies. There are good men and bad men, just as there are good women and bad women. Until you've established which you are dealing with it is incumbent on the wise person to proceed with a modicum of caution. Its sad that its necessary. Its sad that women find themselves forced to make these kinds of calculations. Its not fair, but its reality. And we have to live in the real world. Then again, perhaps, when looking for a man who is worthy of a woman of valor, a bar isn't the best place to look. Using your network of family, friends, and co-workers to identify and vett men of interest is safer and more likely to produce someone who is worth your time. I would give the same advice to a man. When looking for quality, don't go digging in a dumpster.
3. some times the drink is the victem

4. Men need to be reeducated too - not only more centres
(04.05.06)
Whats this ''violent sex'' crap all about? Most people like to f*ck once in a while instead of making love in a tender way But theres a difference between f*cking and violent sex The only people who have violent sex are porn stars and weird morons who need to get a life So why do so many men think its ok? A lot of men will say its not ok, but behind closed doors they joke about it Its not ok, period. And NO, is code for: NO.
5. Drug Rapr Prevention
John R Blundell ,   Dewsbury West Yorks   (04.05.06)
I have developed a deviice for bottled drinkd which make drink spiking virtually impossible at a very low cost £0.10 each Sterling. we are currently trying to get bars and clubs to fit the device to every bottle John R Blundell
6. You are all missing the point!
dan ,   israel   (04.05.06)
Didn't you read the article? Only 10% of rapes are comitted by strangers to the victim.
7. so what are we going to do about it?
Jennifer ,   Tel Aviv   (04.21.06)
I really enjoyed all the talk backs about how women should stay at home and not risk themselves. But back in the real world other that that is incredably offensive to women, we don't live in the stone age and 90% of rape occour within your social circle. . Why shouln't I and my female friends not be able to go to a bar and enjoy a drink and a gossip? or meet our male friends/collegue in their homes. we need harsher punishments for rapists and not the just 10% who are stangers to their victims, name and shame, israel is a small country the fear of your mother seeing your face on the channel 10 news is far more scary that the bumbling efforts made by police to test and forensically examine rapists.( who always seem to then blame the woman) Who cares if the women was in the bar, or in a short skirt. no woman deserves to be raped, their is no excuse no justification and should be no tolerance for this behaviour - its about time we caught up the the 'civilised' world that we always like to think we are part of.
8. Do something !
Brana Lobel ,   USA   (04.23.06)
I agree with the author and Jennifer. Further, rape was accorded harsh punishment according to the Torah. This punishment still holds. Further: Israel looks to be 30 years behind the US in its treatment of rape scenarios and victims. As for these anti-female talkback comments...who are you people? You're so unJewish. Look at the ugliness and cruelty and meanness you're espousing. Rape is a serious crime and should be dealt with accordingly.
9. arab rapist murderer of child in bet shmesh
e. steinlauf ,   jerusalem, israel   (05.29.06)
I think this is the perfect case for those in Israel who would support a change in the law to allow for the death penalty be given in "criminal" matters, just like tthere is a provision for war crimes (Eichman). It's about time don't you think?
