1. Too bad
jason white ,   afula,israel   (04.05.06)
Too bad they were not sensitive ti this in the 1930s.
2. VERY STRANGE
PILPELET ,   H ISRAEL   (04.05.06)
THIS IS VERY STRANGE COMING FROM A COUNTRY THAT NOT SO LONG AGO KILLED EVERYTHING OFF THAT WASNT NAZI...................NOW ITS AN INSULT ..........HITLER MUST BE SPINNING IN HIS GRAVE.......
3. 1 & 2 you are right, however
(04.05.06)
this applies not only to public officials
4. Its obvious - why go there in the first place!
Dan   (04.05.06)
I dont understand why israelis insist on traveling to this country. Its obvious the people have a Nazi past - so why go there in the first place? Dan
5. not using this word i would say
mo ,   almere   (04.05.06)
Better a sensitive reaction and an acknowledge that it was a terrifying era, then no response. By the way do not say this to a dutch official too, you will get trouble too. What about saying this to israeli officials? I think the word nazi should not be used at all to call people names nowadays because it is in disrespect to the victims of the real nazis. It is not the same they went through compared what people have to get through now .
6. nazi germany - tainted land...stay away...
moshe ,   bet shemesh   (04.05.06)
it's another good reason not to go there even for flight connectoins. these people are sensitive about their history, but nazi germany is a makom tumah - stay away...
7. Germany vs. Israel
Jew from Germany ,   Jerusalem   (04.05.06)
it least Germany learned its lessons and deals with anti-semitism more serious than France or the UK or even Israel. All Shinui members would be arrested for being anti-Jewish (anti-Charedi), Sharon and Olmert would be arrested for destructing whole Jewish villages and Synagogues. Try to "evacuate" Jews in Gemany in neighborhoods with a Muslim majority, the Germans today would not react so apathetic as most israelis today. In other words: anti-semitism in the worls = anti-settler/charedi in Israel Think about it!!
8. In reporting this story,
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (04.05.06)
ynet could not resist the temptation to put swastikas on its page. They're not really necessary--we can understand what happened without them. But swastikas are "sensational," sell products and attract readers.
9. Who's the biggest moron here:
Michael Steiner ,   EU   (04.05.06)
those two idiots from the story who belittle the memory of haShoah with their flippant use of the word (a natzi would've stamped their passports with a "J" if not killed them and their and their families after doing everything imaginable to humiliate them and strip them of their humanity) or the imbecils commenting here. Get over it, Germany is not the same country today that it was almost a century ago. There's far more neo-nazism in places like France, Belgium, England (who are not sorry for the almost-Holocaust of their own: colonilism) and, yes, the United States than Germany. And #4: Germany is one of the leading and most powerful country in the world; why should Jews not travel there?! Should Indians or Africans not travel to England? Really, people, sometimes the reactions I read here make me scoff at the oft-repeated mantra that Jews are of above average intelligence.
10. German soil is drenched with Jewish blood
Robert ,   USA   (04.05.06)
....and they dare to be sensitive!
11. Better a trip to Germany than France. Thanks Germany!
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (04.05.06)
12. I'm not suprised
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.05.06)
Incontinence of the mouth is an Israeli disease. A little common sense and foresight would put us in good stead on a whole swath of issues, not just how we represent ourselves as individuals and collectively, but alas, shooting our mouths off is the national sport.
13. #9
some Jew in florida ,   Gainesville, FL   (04.05.06)
sorry, but you cannot extend a few comments on ynet news to the intelligence of the Jewish populace. Although I am a humble person, I would not disagree that Jews are of high intelligence (and for good reason), however it is not always the brightest who are the loudest.
14. Have the Germans been transformed? Yeah...sure
Anne ,   USA   (04.05.06)
The only reason they are sensitive is because they lost the war and because their crimes were etched in stone.
15. #11 Germans gassed the Jews while the French deported them
Bill ,   USA   (04.05.06)
France, Germany....what is the difference? Hatred of Jews is integrated into the European culture and mentality.
16. How do we know they weren't "real" Nazis?
Gil ,   Tel Aviv   (04.05.06)
There's plenty of anti-semtisim in Germany today just like other European countrries. There is a rise - not decrease - in neo-nazism. Maybe the officials involved really are anti-semitic? Just because Germany has strict rules about Nazism doesn't mean people there aren't still secretly proud of what happened even though they are in a minority.
17. Customs officials
Mike ,   Rishon le Zion   (04.05.06)
Those 2 women sound like stupid loud-mouthed chak-chakim who don't have any common sense in their tiny brains. The customs officials are only doing their job, so why insult them if they don't let you exceed the number limits for cigarettes or whatever? This is just plain boorish stupidity and insensitivity on the part of these ignorant women and it is this sort of behavior - and those types of people - which gives us a bad name when we travel abroad. If you can't accept the legal framework of a civilized democratic European country then don't go there.
18. Typical, genuine Israeli attitude.
Jerusalem,Israel   (04.05.06)
Where the term nazi is thrown around like a football. Once over a disagreement with a neighbor of moroccan decent I was told "they should have killed 6 million more of you" and this was a jew by the way. I'm sure this has happened to others.
19. EU=Nazi?
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Shomron   (04.05.06)
The EU and member states transfer more than 1 milion USD per day, every day, to "Palestinian Authority". Or did they stop doing this after Hamas election victory? I would go to Germany or buy a German car even if american rice hurts us more today.
20. Hatred of Jews is wired into the German DNA
Melanie ,   USA   (04.05.06)
21. Right on Michael #9
Richard ,   New York, USA   (04.05.06)
These idiots think they can go to Germany, insult people by calling them Nazis, and everything is ok? They got just what they deserved for being so stupid. In Israel, verbally abusing another Jew with the term, "Nazi" is quite common. It just shows you how little they respect each other. And yet, if a non-Jew calls them a Nazi, they are ready to scream anti-Semitism to the high heavens. Hypocrites! Don't give what you can't take. And why shouldn't a Jew go to Germany, an important nation in the world. Most of Israel's buses, cars, trucks, trains, construction equipment, tank parts and many other goods come from Germany. It pays to have good relations with your number one trading partner.
22. to all germany-bashers
Intedi Nensak ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (04.05.06)
god can't you people find anything else to whine about? germany can't do anything right in your eyes can it? even when they take the holocaust so seriously that they clamp down on EVERYTHING regarding nazism you're not satisfied. stop acting like germany owes you anything, i doubt even one of you people sitting here complaining were in the holocaust anyway. you just read about it in books and heard stories. there's a whole new generation of germans now which has nothing to do with what went on in their country 50 years before they were born! pretty much everyone from that time are dead and buried now so what good will it do to hate their grandchildren? the only country in the world where guilt to a crime is something you inherit is North Korea, not exactly a model society eh?
23. #22, why do you care if we complain?
Matt ,   Florida   (04.05.06)
yes there are many people i know directly affected. maybe not them but their parents and relatives. It is not something that happened THAT long ago. you talk about the holocaust as if it were an ancient event. however, i do agree that germany has done a lot to improve, although nobody is perfect. I say they can handle a little bit of whining if our people went through what we did just a few decades ago.
24. When Germany creates a Killing, ltd and gasses
Hey Swede #22 ,   USA   (04.05.06)
6M Swedes, please come here to tell us how it feels. The reason you are critical of Jews is because you will never grasp the scope of the German Nazi crimes and brutality. It is beyond your comprehension simply because it did not affect every Swedish family.
25. Germany is definitly a place to travel for Jewish people.
Konstantin ,   Germany   (04.05.06)
This country is keep on dealing with it past for about 60 years. Sure, there are still some Shoa-deniers and neo-nazis. But compared to the number of rassists and anti-semits in US or elsewhere they are minority. The subject of 3rdR and Shoa is discussed in schools very extensive and comprehensive. German students may seem to be better aware of this issue and consequences as some Israeli student does. After 3rdR collapse the generations of germans were raised and are living in climat of permanent fault. So its quite obvious why they are sensitive about nazi bashing.
26. I agree with #12
F ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.05.06)
It's time for Israelis to stop and think about their exaggerated ways of talking. If someone doesn't agree with you, you can't vent your frustration by calling him a Nazi. It's highly insulting and also diminishes the enormity of what the real Nazis did.
27. It will take the Jews 1000 years to recover
Germans who they are ,   USA   (04.05.06)
from the German Nazi crimes!
28. What a silly woman
Peter S.M. ,   Australia   (04.05.06)
The Germans have tried sincerely to make ammends. It only takes a few foolish comments and the subsequent publicity. I 'll take the Germans over the French anytime.
29. Amazing
Shlomo ,   Germany   (04.05.06)
Amazing, amazing... If I believe the talkbacks, Germany is full of Nazis. Just wonder at the huge number of Israelis living here... And: it´s seem that in theses cases the trouble´s origin was the behaviour of the Israelis, not the one of the german officials... think about that!
30. "Nazi" seems to be a favorite Jewish insult
(04.05.06)
