1. Let Them Starve
Eretz Yisrael   (04.06.06)
They voted for Hamas, they reap the rewards. They are their own curse. No Peace with Amalek
2. and put out the electricity on the way...
(04.06.06)
3. #1 - Typical heartless Israeli
(04.06.06)
You've voted for Likud before, who's leader Sharon has killed FAR MORE INNOCENT CIVILLIANS than Hamas ever has. Why did nobody suggest that your people must starve? You are a heartless inconsiderate Jew who only cares about Jewish blood. You are incapable of love and are depressed. Seek help. Now.
4. but now they are going to blame everything on others
mike ,   usa   (04.06.06)
because NOTHING is ever their fault.
5. Alan Abbey is absolutely correct
Hiram ,   Tel Aviv   (04.06.06)
His analysis reflects the situation of today . The " rethorical" part of Arafat's tenure equals that of other of "doubtful Charisma" who were in fact no more than indeed Kleptocrats feeding on the budget originally destined to their own people. Corruption has been endemic in the Middle East for a long long time but the " Palestinian leaders " of Arafat's era have topped it. ( I saw several of them during the intifada period driving luxurious Mercedes with special plates, eating in " ennemy territory " ( dont ask me where, I wont tell you !) while palestinian were starving at home. There is obviously a price to pay for everything, and indeed , the new " government", democratically elected ( for how long ?) is not exactly paving its path for a better economic nor political future. If I was politically incorrect I would simply say " Allah will help " but the palestinian have heard that for so long now, and have continuously starved, that it is not even funny ! Hanniyeh, the red bearded lunatic ( whatever his name may be ??) and Al Zahar, have a solution very close to them : Relinquish violence, relinquish anti-semiticism, relinquish on guns, change their mentality, face facts and economics....but yes, changing mentality requires questioning oneself ! That may to too much to expect from Islamic/terrorist leaders posing as " freedom fighters" and sending young kids to kill themselves in the name of a " religious conception" of the middle east and a biaised interpretation of the Holy Qoran !!!!
6. #3 Let them starve
Caligula's Horse ,   Solomon's Stables   (04.06.06)
I should not be feeding terrorists who want to kill me, neither should I supply them with water, or electricity which they use to build their qassams. Dont try to be a demagog and compare a legitimate political party such as Likud with a terrorist organization like Hamas. And yes, as for you accusations, give me one reason to care about my enemies.
7. Wow
J K ,   NYC, USA   (04.06.06)
One of the best Ynet articles I have read in a long time. Cant argue with anything in here. Mazal Tov Alan. Good stuff.
8. #3 tyypical whining from a nameless coward.
DR ,   Florida, USA   (04.06.06)
Israel is a modern democracy who's people repect life and are tolerant of others. Palestinians send their own children to die and become martyrs. They kill each other all the time as do other Arab people do and, yet you have the audacity to blame Israel for everything and call us heart less. You are a perfect example of what this article is talking about. You have no productive answers, just blame and hate. Typical brainwashed fool!!!
9. #3, I agree with #1, and I'm no Israeli.
AK   (04.06.06)
Those who vote terrorists in are definitely no innocent civilians. Those who shoot rockets at neighbor's farms, schools and factories deserve to starve.
10. #8 - You're starting to sound like Gabrielle Rivera
(04.06.06)
or Goldwater, whatever.
11. Israel Electric should turn off their lights
(04.06.06)
12. #6 and #9
Nick ,   USA   (04.07.06)
Stup the non sence, Generalization is common only in idiots, Kadima is leading the Isaeli goverment and Olmert will be the prime minister with only 26% of the vote, does that means all Israeli citizens carry his idiology. Plus, before talking nonsence you should read the artical carefully , hamas got 48% of the vote, and peaple voted for them becouse they supplied services they did not get under fatah, how could you blame them for that, knowing what they go threw every day. Plus, none of you Jews ever gave Palestinians any money, International money and US tax money is not yours to give to who you feel is terrist or not, you get 300 billion dollars of american tax money plus weapons that you use to kill kids with, don't think that repetition of wrong so many times make it right....typecal idiots mentality.
13. What are we worrying about?
Art ,   Sydney, Australia   (04.07.06)
We're at war with the Palanazis aren't we? Did the allies in World War II differentiate between good Germans or bad ones, or good Japanese or bad? No, they taught both nations a lesson they'll never forget and guess what? Both Germany & Japan have been peaceful, prosperous countries for over 60 yrs. We can't distinguish between good Pals and bad ones, unfortunately. We don't have the time or the resources to do that, and besides, it's too complicated and Jewish lives must be defended. Let all Pals starve, let the bastards suffer until they finally realise the errors of their ways. Then there may be a chance for peace. Until then, forget it, don't waste time on these thugs and murderers. Let them stew in their own juices. They deserve whatever suffering they get - and may it be plenty!
14. The pope loves "palestinians." Let him support them. OK?
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (04.07.06)
15. They have their freedom, they can feed themselves
(04.07.06)
Israel isn't responsible for my dinner or electric bill. I pay for them myself. And I don't blow up Jews. Should Israel feed the world now?
16. The more things change ...
David Lipton ,   Toronto, Canada   (04.07.06)
The French have just the saying for this situation: Plus ca change, plus c'est le meme chose. (The more things change, the more they remain the same). C'est la vie (that's life)
17. Easy Fix
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.07.06)
Hermetically seal their areas, shut off their power and water, and pound them hard evertime a rocket is fired at Israeli targets. There's no reason to be humane to people who have voted en masse for a genocidal platform that calls for your national destruction. The day they voted Hamas in it stopped being just a few terrorists. It also stopped being unjust to use collective punishment as the collective made the choice!
18. Act like a government, or act like a terror group
howard ,   pacific coast, usa   (04.07.06)
I strongly agree with the article. HAMAS has a choice. Either act like a responsible government, or act like a terrorist group. If the former, then it will be TREATED as a responsible government. If the latter, then it will be treated as a TERROR group. I feel some sympathy for Palestinians who see through HAMAS and want peace rather than bloodshed, but I feel NO sympathy for HAMAS members.
19. enforce their right of return
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (04.07.06)
In their controlled lands they expelled you or worse. Expel them completely or the will be as pinx in your eyes, Enforce thir right of return to the homicidal hamite homoland, peninsula by thir own name. And retur tfavor, no compensation for land they stole in the first place. In fact, charge them fr the destruction of Jewish land like Joseph's tomb and har ha'bayit
20. Hamastan or Palestine? #18
Salim ,   London   (04.07.06)
Howard - my sentiments too Reading between the lines - I detect your sense of sheer frustration yet a longing for a peaceful solution. And there is still a chink of light. Its early days yet and Hamas have not thrown down the gauntlet to resume Hamas sponsored terrorist acts. Im not sure that Hamas are prepared to sacrifice yet more generations to continuing misery, poverty and hatred whilst they indulge in the trappings of their new found wealth and power. I am sad, frustrated, angry and weary of the status quo maintained by Arafat for his own selfish ends. I appeal to the leadership on both sides to use this opportunity to act responsibly and begin to work together. There is so much to gain and so much to lose! Inshallah!
21. to # 13
Saba   (04.07.06)
it seems you are livint tooooo far ...in soo good conditions ....using your logic you legitimise the suicide bombing in Israeli cities ....they are all criminals ....using your way of thinking ...it seems you never went to school
22. very well said
sam ,   us   (04.07.06)
23. Solution
Yariv ,   Tel Aviv   (04.07.06)
EU should give Hamas $100 of food for every Kassam. In Africa, a family live a year on $100 of food, and these are honest working families. Further, Egypt should stop sending its people to Gaza. The life in Gaza is still much better than in Egypt or the rest of Black Africa.
24. banking
tamara ,   jerusalem   (04.07.06)
who dares to ask where are the $ 250Millions from Iran given to Mashaal on 28 February during his visit ?
25. Let them Starve
MARK ,   USA   (04.07.06)
I have no compassion for them. They voted for terror. Cut off electricity and water. It will stop Arab overpopulation. Starvation is the only soution!!
26. #12 "You Jews, " you say, "you idiots," you add.
AK   (04.08.06)
Nicky boy, you're making lots of assumptions, here. Are you sure, by the way, your name is Nick? There are two kinds of people using the word "idiot" in their posts as often as you do -- the Goldwater broad and the Arabs, and usually when they cannot think of a coherent argument.
27. Fallacy
David   (04.08.06)
Everybody keeps missing the point!! The Palestinian leadership(from Arafat to Tibi to Mashall) and the whole arab world couldn't care less about the 'palestinian people". The palestinian leadership has been intentionaly starving the palestinian people for over 15 years. This way they can keep using the "poor us" posture in the international arena to garnish support for their true intention-the destruction of Israel. Let us not forget that almost 99%of arab regimes world wide are dictatorships. To them palestinian blood is cheap, the comman arab on the street is merely a pawn. The destruction of Israel is the only motivating factor they live by.
28. Awesome article Alan
CHai ,   Israel   (04.08.06)
29. What happened to the billions of dollars in aid?
Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ   (04.09.06)
If Arafat and the Palestinians had wisely and properly used the foreign aid billions given to the PA, there would be no financial problem. If terrorism ended, multinational corperations and foundations would flock to this abomination of a land and build factories for the people to work in. Hospitals and roads would have been built and there would be a decent standard of living for the Palestinian people. Where did the money disappear to?
30. Terrorism
EMIN ,   France   (04.09.06)
Why would the Palestinian have to recognise Israel as a legitimate state when daily actions of Israel are illegitimates? The latest killing of palestinian civilians, including a 7 years old child by isrealy missile does not entice palestinians to consider israel as a peace partner, but as a state level terrorist organisation which must be put down, like all terrorist organisations.
