I am not surprised with the responses to #2, I been in the same place since I started writing to this website. I can my self write to AL-Jazeera, or BBC, or other sites, but I choose this one to better know othres. The real question which we should ask today ( regardless of the systemic IDF successes with high tech weaponry ) is this : Will this change anything tomorrow , in other words will this stop Quassam launching to Israel . I would like to piece together a few question in an unpassionate fashion : 1) Till now, Quassams did not cause any damages . Most if not all of them fell in " empty spaces " Was it because of poor engineering or was is on purpose, like saying to Israelis , with a little adjustement, these Quassams can kill 2) Because of the specificities of Arab mentality in general and of Hamas in particular , and dedication to the concept of martyrdom, there is in fact an endless supply of canon-fodder to take-over this, that and the other so-called commander, general, leader, guru, of whatever martyr brigade ( so numerous that I canot count them all ) therefore killing a few here and there may not change anything. Additionally, just like during the later days of WW I when Hitler sent to combat children in the teens ( Volksturm ) Hamas and other terror groups have obviously no problem sending their youngsters to be killed in the name of Allah ( The Merciful ) .. 3) Does killing changes mentality ? Certainly not. Indeed eradication of terror group is the only alternative especially in view of the radical speeches and positions recently taken by Palestinian people " of authority" but who has final authority in Palestine : THAT IS THE QUESTION and answering this will help Israel deciding if selective targeting should continue or should stop. 4) SHould Mexico start launching Quassams at the US , How would the US react after 8 months of non stop incidents ? Short of approving them , why is Abbas unable to stop these launches ? Is he free of its movments ? SHould Germany target Austria in the same fashion ? England target Ireland in the same fashion...and so on ....What would be the reaction of the country on the receiving end ? 5) Can Arab mentality change ? Why not . Can Hamas mentality change ? Why Yes . What are the alternative ? What part of STOP LAUNCHING QASSAMS dont they understand ? 6)What are the Egyptians doing to bring in their stone on fighting terrorism and arm smuggling ? Can Mubbarak really manage security agencies in Egypt ? It looks like at least have of them are already infiltrated by the Moslem Brotherhood.... so what do we do ? We know that althoughthe official stance by the Israeli government is that no one will talk with HAMAS, high level contact ( from the Israeli stand point that is, we do not think there is anyone of high level in Hamas ) have started in the hope of convincing that unless Qassams stop, the next step will be preventive strike against terror organisation. It is obvious also that if Israel does this, decision process are including possible reaction or non-reaction from " arab nation" which for the time being does not really want to be bothered by Hamas, short of becoming also associated with terror. What does this mean ? -Hamas is loosing more and more credibility due to its "Leaders" stubbornness -Arab countries will not help, nor join into any military operation aiming at " protecting Palestinian " ( They know what it costs in military terms ) -Palestinian people , like any people unable to freely decide of their future , will continue suffering and starting , not BECAUSE of ISRAEL's position but BECAUSE of HAMAS Obsession with trying to make people believing that they control something, that it was right to elect them, and that an Iran like country is the best thing that could become of Gaza.
