31. Better to be educated than not
Robert ,   Los Angeles, USA   (04.10.06)
I'm a Christian Zionist who's currently studying an intro level Judaism course at a Conservative Judaism institute. Each lesson has been highly educational; and continues to be an eye-opener from perceived and misinformed misconceptions I've had on both faiths. I've been with my faith for 32+ years; and IMHO, it would be better to be (properly and correctly) educated about a subject than not to be educated at all - for everyone's sake. In a nutshell, here's why so many "Christians" are either apathetically patronizing to downright hostile to the "Commonwealth of Israel" in an overwhelmingly and disturbingly illogical manner. The early disciples of Y'shua were known as the "Nazarene sect" of Judaism, until the milestones such as the destruction of the Temple/Dispersion and the anti-semitic/secessionist Gentile majority made it more or less a "highjacked entity" ignorant of its origins. This ignorance continues today. Hijacked again by the Roman Empire/Church and most of its derivatives(i.e. majority of "Christian Denominations under the sun"), the entity forbade the study of the Tanackh and the "Nazarene Scriptures", substituted and/or added a good number of pagan practices, and led its massess to subjegate and destroy all those who opposed its viewpoint. (FYI - even in this present day, you'd be surprised by how many "Catholic" watchdogs hang around "non-Catholic" congregations, contesting anyone who points out the errors attributed to the Papacy and its R.C.C. - yet errors made by "Protestant Leaders" aren't so vehemently defended) If one would study the "Nazarene Texts" objectively, one should come to conclude that many of Christianity's practices, including paganized worship, negligence of "mitzvot common to all", forced conversions/assimilations, pressured prostylizations are incongruent with its source texts (Tanackh and Nazarene). Demagouges tend to prey and utilize the ignorant, so there's nothing better than to learn, discern, stand, and confront those who conduct and condone religious atrocities of the past, present, and future. Respectfully submitted; and good night to all.
32. Figures, it's a Reform rabbi suggesting this!

33. Robert, Los Angeles: Nazarene sect
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (04.10.06)
My compliments. A couple of historical corrections, however. "Nazarene" is a Hellenization of the original Hebrew name: Netzarim (offshoots), deriving from Is. 11.1 The earliest extant Church historian, Eusebius, documented the watershed event that disconnected Christianity from the 1st-century Torah-teaching Pharisaic Ribi, Yehoshua: the expulsion of Jews from Yerushalayim in 135 C.E. - including the 15th Netzarim Paqid, Yehudah ha-Tzadiq, whom they displaced with the "first gentile bishop," Marcus. The "papal succession" didn't exist until Hegesippus fabricated it in the 3rd century. There is no connection between the pope - a forcible counterfeit of the Netzarim Paqid - and Shimon Keipha (Hellenized to "Simon Peter"). Hellenization, BTW, implies far more than mere change in the pronunciation of names. Pre-135 C.E. Judaic personalities were diametrically antithetical to their post-135 C.E. counterfeits. Can you please point me to the verse in the New testament where it specifically mentions "Easter"? No? That's because it's not in there, and you wouldn't know this because you've never read it. Combating ignorant attitudes like yours is exactly what this article is about.
35. #9
Or ,   Poland/Israel   (04.10.06)
Brit Hadasha can't be called the "christian bible" because christians accept the whole Tanach and they call it "The Bible". So saying that you claim there are two Bibles? One for you one for me?? And yes, let me tell you - no one can fully understand the Brit Hadasha without understanding the Tanach...

Yael ,   Chicago, USA   (04.10.06)
Betsy...I agree. you want to understand Christ's teachings, study Torah. I have a question for you...did you ever live in the Galilee anywhere?

Yael ,   Chicago, USA   (04.10.06)
If I may ask a personal question, what's your take on Ribi Yehoshua? Was he the Messiah or not in your opinion? Because you're writing as if you do believe him to be the Messiah, yet you say you are an Israeli Orthodox Jew. You also say "Nazarene" is from Netzarim, and you call yourself a Netzarim.... Just curious. I'm friends with both sides of this controversy BTW. We'll all know the truth someday...might as well discuss our differences in a friendly and respectful manner in the meantime...because that's a basic tenet of both faiths. Yael
38. Jews should know New Testament
STEPHEN HOUSSTON ,   USA   (04.10.06)
Lamb of YAHWEH, who was chosen to be sacrificed for all mankind's sin. The Bible declares that mankind must have a blood sacrifice to substitute punishment for their sins by placing them on the sacrifice, figuratively speaking. The sacrifice has to be blameless; else the punishment could not be substituted, since the thing sacrificed would be dying for its own sins. Clean and spotless animals were once sacrificed as a temporal measure until a fully qualified sacrifice could be supplied at the proper time. Followers of Yeshua believe He was that perfect sacrifice. He is a man, who could be properly substituted for mankind, yet YAHWEH in the flesh, for only YAHWEH is sinless. Only YAHWEH Himself is a pure enough sacrifice to satisfy His holy justice, for all men have sinned.
39. Jewish law OR GOD'S LAW
STEPHEN HOUSTON ,   USA   (04.10.06)
RABBI LAW OR When Yahweh gave His 613 Laws to Mosheh to teach to the Children of Israeli, He vowed an oath saying that those who would truly obey His voice and walk in all his ways would be a "special treasure"' to Him. He also promised that He would establish these Law-abiding people as his holy people. Yeshua came speaking the Torah Word of YAHWEH
40. 3 Days Later...
Daniel ,   Mercerville NJ   (04.10.06)
...the "temple" was rebuilt. So that all may inherit the blessings of the covenant(s). To the Jew first, and also the Gentile (praise Adonai!!!)
41. Christian Bible
Daniel ,   Mercerville USA   (04.10.06)
New Testament is the New Covenant. The Messianic Covenant.
42. My King

43. Gods People
Daniel ,   Mercerville USA   (04.10.06)
Yes he was talking to Jews (Jewish believers in Jesus!!!). All of Gods people are persecuted because of Him (whether the God-head, His Spirit, or Son (Messiah)...) Read the book of Romans written by the Apostle Paul if you are interested. Paul was, in his own words, a "Hebrew of Hebrews."
44. Word Made Flesh
Daniel ,   Mercerville   (04.10.06)
Jesus is the Word of God.
45. HaDabar Yehwey
STEHEN HOUSTON ,   USA   (04.10.06)
HaDabar Yehwey thou shalt call His name Yeshua [salvation]: for He shall save (yoshia) His people from their sins" (Matt. 1.21, Hebrew translation). Yeshua came speaking the Torah. Word of YAHWEH

Human sacrifice is an abomination to judaism - period -
47. 324 Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled by Yeshua
Steve Houston ,   USA   (04.10.06)
Yeshua Ha'Natseret fulfilled not just 48 prophecies, and not just the 61 prophecies listed on this page, but he fulfilled more than 324 individual prophecies that the Prophets wrote concerning The Mashiach. We won’t bother to extrapolate the mathematical probability of any one man fulfilling 324 prophecies; the number is beyond the capacity of the human mind to comprehend. This should prove with absolute certainly to anyone with any semblance of an Open mind that Yeshua, and only Yeshua, is the Messiah of Israel.

A short answer would be misunderstood and twisted. Your question is fully answered in the website for which I try to give the URL in every message. Paqid 16, The Netzarim Israeli Orthodox Jew www.netzarim.co.il
49. Christian proselytism
Ezra ,   Canada   (04.10.06)
The reform author of this article does not understand why religious Jews are not interested in discovering christian scriptures or interacting with christians... ... the funny christian talkbacks published by YNet can give him the answer : these people are not interested in any kind of interfaith discussion. THEY JUST WANT TO CONVERT US !!!!
50. bnei-noachide
yaakov ,   judea   (04.10.06)
All the idolitators who have invaded this talkback to spew idolatry including mr velvet glove from netzarim need to become bnei-noachides and stop bowing to vanity and illusions
51. Sure we are....
Dan ,   Mercerville USA   (04.10.06)
well at least I am, interested in interfaith discussions. Which one of the talkbacks was funny? I'd love to elaborate if you missed something....because trust me, I didnt intend to be funny with matters (of Elohim). Sorry if I disrespected you in any way. "Grafted In"
52. Clarification
Daniel ,   Mercerville USA   (04.10.06)
Some forms of Christianity may practice what is believed to be idolatry (praying to statues would be a great example). The Catholic Church does this as well as some others, but this is wrong!!! It is idol worship. True Christianity does not practice idol worship. See the "Reformation (Martin Luther)" for further info on this.
53. Jews are God's chosen people
Allison ,   Richardson, USA   (04.11.06)
I'm surprised to read all of these comments. Jews need to understand that not all Christians think the same way. I am taught that Jews are God's chosen people and that Christians should always respect that and honor God's covenant with the Jews and warnings about anti-semitism. Also, I do not think Jews killed Christ - I believe He willingly gave His life and was fulfilling God's divine plan. I have nothing but respect for Jews and my pastor spends a great deal of time teaching about Jews from the original language, even exegeting for us straight from the Hebrew. I guess I am surprised at all of the hostility being expressed here because I always think of Jews and Christians as partners of sorts. I love to read Jewish reports of what is going on in Israel and am distressed at the way the USA is treating Israel right now. Just another Christian prespective.

If you are going to use Martin Luther, ck out his track record first
55. THE CLOSEST RELIGION TO JUDAISM, IS REFORM...
THANK YOU ,   MR. REFORM "RABBI"   (04.11.06)
56. Hi Daniel, I as refering to Stephen...
Ezra ,   Canada   (04.11.06)
... when writing about funny posts. The guy does mispel and misuse many hebrew words and jewish concepts in sometimes a way forbidden by jewish values. Trying to show a knowledge you have not can make you ridiculous. By the way, even if your postings are definitely more serious you still act as a christian. You tell us your truth which you would like to be become our truth. The jewish way would be to tell us your believing while respecting our believing. I also remind you that Martin Luther was a famous Jew hater. Any reference to him is as delicate as a reference to Adolf Hitler. Sorry for the english, I am a francophone
57. If your willing.....
Connie ,   USA   (04.11.06)
go to CBN.com and click on the Jerusalem Dateline 'Celebrating the Resurrection in Jerusalem'. Also the Inside Jerusalem section, 'Christianity's Jewish Roots'. I hope that what you read answers questions for some and spurs others on to study the New Testament and Christianity for yourselves. Enjoy your reading!
58. Faith
Michael ,   USA   (04.11.06)
I am a Christian. In response to Ezra, I HUMBLY concur with you: you have your beliefs, I have mine. This does not mean that we need to have animosity between our faiths as there are good AND bad people in all faiths. Developing dialogue helps to improve understanding. To any Israeli: I have never been to Israel and I would like to make it there someday. I know that Jerusalem may be hostile for an American walking around trying to visit some of the sites. Is it true that only Muslims are allowed on the Temple Mount? Do any non-Muslims get to go inside of the Dome of the Rock (Holy of Holies)? Please forgive me if I have said anything that may offend you. G-d Bless ALL of you!
59. To proselytise or not
Julian ,   Melbourne, Australia   (04.11.06)
I arrived in Australia from Romania. I showed off that I am Romanian and not an Australian everytime I got a chance. However I grew up and was faced with an annoying question: if the Romanian culture and the way of governing is so superior to the Australian way, why are so many Jews, Arabs, Indians, Asians migrating to Australia instead of Romania??? I had to be honest with myself and see what a dope I was. So when I hear Jews (and by the way I am a conservative Christian = supporter of Isral) saying there is no point in reading the New Testament, I wonder: Isn't worth finding out what makes Australia, UK, USA (some of the most Christian countries in the world) such great countries to live in? I mean come on, even atheists love the principles set by Jesus: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". So my Jewish friends, let's be real and start asking, what makes these countries so great??? Maybe it is after all the Christian (New Testament) influence. Maybe if you put some of these principles into practice, maybe they may just help you.
60. Christian's persecute Jews?
Christian ,   Corpus Christi   (04.11.06)
I am a Christian and I sure as heck do not have any urges to prosecute Jews!! An maybe if you knew something about Christ's true teachings you'd understand why there is no reason to fear us! You Jews should quit whining and do something about those killers who TRULY want to hurt you! Their Koran teaches it plainly
