Iran is incapable of hitting any sites in the US. To say so is highly misleading. On the other hand, the US has the capability today to wreck havoc on Iranian military installations. Anyone in the Iranian military will be at risk. No American President can allow Iran to threaten the Gulf. Its navy will be sunk quickly and its planes knocked from the sky.

What happened to the good old days whereby acts of diplomacy were an invitation to an aggressor to surrender or be annihilated? To my mind that worked well, the aftermath of which brought peace and quiet. Today's pathetic acts of diplomacy are nothing more than cowardly acts laden with self interest instead of long term foresight for world stability. Why is the west so outraged that the Iranians want a nuke. It is inevitable for some muslim state to acquire one. When Israel with tacit U.S. knowledge and a wink of the eye secretly obtained them the dye was cast. Of course now the west and in particular the U.S. wants to divide the world up into good nations who we will allow to have them and bad ones who we won't. Do deals with a nation like India who never signed NPT yet want to deny Iran who has, but we hate there regime, they won't play with us. All this B.S. hypocrisy of the west. I would suggest that to gain a better perspective of what nuclear war would do, you should live in an area where the development of nuclear technology is undertaken and discover the utter waste of this endeavor. I grew up near a nuclear weapons lab and started my engineering career where the plutonium for Nagasaki and other nuclear weapons was made-the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. I discovered-among other things the complicity of my country sharing nuclear technology without any reservation. I would have to say that the profit motive for development overtook the minds and purposes of these people-who would want to leave a area radioactive "hot" after a nuclear exchange but where I lived-it is radioactive. Some people would attribute a moralistic high ground saying it is necessary in order to maintain peace we must produce these weapons-albeit peace due to the terror that lingers in the minds of people who survived. Any general will tell you that they do not want to use these weapons but maintain the nuclear option with the deployment and storage of these weapons. Personally, I am glad that this subject finally has hit the streets. After moving to Washington, D. C. I read a fax from Harry Truman as to why he authorized dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to which his comments was "to completely obliterate the Japanese and to strike fear and terror in he hearts and minds of all.

Why is it that when people talk about the USA or (THE WEST) they use such general terms. Do they really believe that all americans are bad and want to police the world.I for one wish that they would destroy all nukes.We all know that if anyone used them now that there would be World wide destruction. If Iran develops nuclear warheads and a missile with a 2500km range, it can launch them from international waters. Goodbye to any city in range. So what if we blow them out of the water afterwards, they've already accomplished their jihad deed and would be happy to die as martyrs. Also, If a country insists on developing nuclear capabilities, then it should be held liable for "any" misuse of it. If a bomb goes off here and can be traced to there, a similar bomb goes off there. It would seem that we are again at the receiving end of an american(Bush) disinformation campaign to discredit Iran. As we all know GW cannot tell the truth and will distort it any way he can to acheive his goals. Strangely there is never any discussion about Israels nuclear , chemical and biological weapons. They seem to be exempt from all and any control or critisism. We should also remember that there is only one nuclear power out of nearly ten that has ever used nuclear weapons, and that is the USA. There is only one nation that has announced the pre-emptive use of nuclear weapons, and that is the USA. And which country has recently attacked and occupied sovereign countries . The USA . Which country , that talks about democracy is supporting dictators in Egypt, Saudia Arabia, Pakistan . Again the USA. What is happening is the energy endgame. In the not too distant future the energy crunch will come. The US is already positioning itself for that, by gaining access to the main oil producing areas in the middle east. With their presence accounted for by disinformation about wanting to introduce democracy, when in fact their aim is to introduce chaos, thereby creating the conditions that will warrant a permanent military presence in that area. With enough military assets in place it will be a simple matter for the US to dominate and occupy the whole area when oil is scarce. This strategy will also help to keep China at bay. Of course Saddam deserved to be deposed, but by international law it was illegal for the Americans to invade Iraq. And hey, people can't be attacking Britain and America just because they're powerful. Look at the other powerful countries, Russia, China, France. They don't get as much hatred from the world.
